2010 PT Crzr fan not actuating 51k miles. AC on but no fan. Temp is okay when moving but stop lights cause havoc. You mentioned that the square relays on the fan shroud don't go out, but another video said that was his problem. Thanks for giving all the info on this. I'll be working on it tomorrow.
@@OnlineMechanicTips Pulled a P0303 - number 3 cyl not firing. Replaced the cam position sensor and mine stopped doing the jig, but fan is still not actuating. Ran the cruiser on the freeway and it was fine, but as soon as I pointed it uphill the temp gauge started climbing. Once the coolant gets hot its difficult to cool it back down. System is holding pressure and I can get enough cooling from running the heater inside with fan on high, but its not comfortable here in Hawaii to drive with the heater on. Is there a way to hot-wire the radiator fan? I believe the relays are grounding circuit relays so I'm going to try an extra ground cable from the battery to the block. I'm thinking that I might just run a switched wire from the fan's ground wire to the block or ground side terminal on the battery bypassing the relay. Thoughts?
Great Video, Everyone have a look at that 10gauge red/brown wire that is supposed to supply power out of the TIPM..... I found it to be corroded and broken underneath the battery (As a result of battery corrosion under the battery tray. I found the issue, thanks to this fantastic video. Subscribed. :)
Yes, a restriction in the liquid line, like I mention in the video.. Because the orfice tube is housed inside the liquid line, you just cant replace the orfice. So you have to replace the complete liquid line..You really need to do a complete AC diag using some guages to pinpoint pressure problems within the AC unit
EZTZ Rideshare/ News/Auto/Fitness/Multimedia would the ac still function without purgeing if this was a problem before i replaced my broken fan it wouldnt it would build presser purge and turn off like it should but with the new fan the ac works but running it or heater at idle makes it idle bad the same as it was before so the fan was a problem just not the only one
EZTZ Rideshare/ News/Auto/Fitness/Multimedia from what i can tell right now when the ac is turned on the low presser switch is cycleing constantly one click bad idle another click good idle over and over again
Man I have to thank you a lot for this video! I’m diagnosing an 08 PT CRUISER with ac not blowing cold. I’m gonna check on that low speed control circuit when I get the time to work on it. I’m surprise those two relay looking thing that attaches to the fan does not show in wiring diagram which got me thinking they’re the fan relays!
my ac wouldnt work until i replaced the fan because my low speed fan was shot but the high speed fan worked so my car would not overheat. i am wondering if something else is pulling too many amps that is shared by the heat and ac because the idel drops as soon as the heater fan is cut on. it has done the before and after i put my new fan. i am inclined to think of the heat controls and the heater motor but i have been working on other projects lately since i fixed my fan. my friend basicly handed me his voyager that needed some love so any ideas for heater and ac droping the idle would help out thanks
So my cruiser just overheated again. And it all leads back to the fan assembly the only problem is this my the fourth time I’ve had a fan fail on this car. Mainly the low speed won’t kick on again anymore I’ve switched to new relays and put in a new 50 amp fuse. It’s crazy I’ve been replacing this fan on a 6 to 8-month interval I've been stumped. Thank you for your knowledge I'm gonna have to put your method to work.
I have power on the plug but have no power getting to plug at the fan. Can you tell me how to bypass the tipm? I know it bad my passenger headlight went out too
So my mechanic did a bypass on those harness because pin 3 the black ground wire was hot and had a shortage; should I still replace those relay harnesses? And does doing a bypass work long term? I think my 08 still may stutter when cutting the a/c on but it doesn’t overheat anymore after replacing the thermostat, fan, and radiator cap
Hi, appears my ac is not as cold as usual so I have looked at my fan on my 2010 PT. Unplugged the four way plug, put ground to #3 and power to #4 on the fan side only, not vehicle harness. When I ground either 2 or 4, my fan will run through either of the two mounted relays. But they both run at the same speed, no matter if grounding #2 or #4 individually. Does the system kick on both relays at the same time to get a different speed? Compressor shutters a little at a stop as you mentioned.
Please i have 2006 manual 1600 When i turn ac on the fan working on but im not shure if that low or high speed but i notice the when i drive the car about to die on gear 1 & 2 so i have to push more on gas pedal !!!! Any advice please

Do you have a video on the instrument cluster quitting all by itself? I have a 2002 PT with only 53,000 miles on it and the gauge cluster went out a few days ago. The fuse is fine and the dealer says the cluster just quit and they don't have any new ones anywhere. Any suggestions?? I love the car and this is the ONLY problem I've had on it.
Hey buddy, I do not but that cluster is a mini module. If you had a chry scan tool you could read faults. But like any other electrical module or motor, you need a power supply and a ground.. You can simply remove the module and verify that it has a power source and ground, if it do, the module simply internally open.
I realize you work more on chryslers an stuff but do you do Any GM work? I got an 2009 Silverado 1500 where my fan wont come on unless i turn on the AC. Yeah the system is pretty much the same overall, but theres some differences.
Hello jt having crank shaft bearing trouble what is the best way to service main bearings can it be done in the car as in mother natures garage in the north east
O man, are you dealing with a walking crank? One has to come out, either the transmission or the engine. I replaced a crank thrust bearing once by removing the transmission.
@@OnlineMechanicTips ok another question I have a chance to get a motor from pick apart from a 2010 or cruiser auto trans I have a 2005 or convertabel if I buy this motor what kind of magic am I going to have to do to make it work in my 2005
I’m not an expert but my old Chrysler would have ac issues when the battery started to go bad. Just one thing to check before you tear apart something.
Desperate for help on this. My 2002 pt cruiser is over heating and leaking fluid under engine. First thought is water pump and very well may be. However, I just discovered the fan is not going on and now baffled as to maybe the engine gets so hot the fluid is coming up and running out the overflow tube at the cap and or the tube at the overflow reservoir and the hose running some where down under where it drains and looks like the water pump is leaking. My problem is opposite of all the AC overheating, the fan does come on with the AC running and does blow cold air. When the AC is off the fan does not come on, not even when gauge goes beyond halfway and hotter. All I can find is how the engine over heats in AC because the fan isn't going on, mine does, it is when AC is off fan does not come on . Not a single video or explanation I can find any where of my issue and is the other way around. What controls and turns the fan on in regular non AC mode or is that a sign of motor gone bad?
Hey bud, a couple reasons the fan will come on or commanded to come on is as you mentiones, the AC. Also the fan should come on when coolant temp reaches about 230 degrees. That signal comes from the coolant temp sensor. If you had a scan tool that will show coolant temp, when it reach 230, this signal bussed to the PCM, from there the PCM will direct the low speed or high speed fan to come on. So you really need to look at the circuit to see that flow.
@@OnlineMechanicTips Thanks for responding. The temp sensor has also crossed my mind. I know it would be good to know the temp of the engine however I am pretty sure it is getting above the 230 mark and the fan is not going on. But it does go on when turning on AC. I guess I am looking for a direction that tells me what all controls and turns fan on without AC on. When I discovered fan was not coming on I automatically assumed bad fan motor except when I turned on the AC it fired right up. Would that eliminate a bad motor being the problem? Also second guessing the leak is water pump, it does not start leaking and dripping until engine reaches running temps or hotter. If it was water pump, would it not start leaking right off the bat in starting the engine? Does the high speed control the AC and low normal engine operation or does that not matter? I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you responding. PT Cruiser is the most difficult engine I have ever worked on.
@@ckstaff Hey bud, the thing about that 1 fan motor on this car is that it is 2 speeds. The low speed and high speeds. The PCM determines which speed to turn on..You could have one of the speed motor internals shorted out. With a scan tool you can command either speed fan to come on. Just say, I can actuate high speed to come on, then simply look down there to see if it comes on, same with low speed. If i make the command and nothing happens, thats when I verify the power supply and the ground at the connector. If the motors getting the power supply and ground but not coming on, then that motor simply open. If you not geting the power and ground at the connector then you have to find out why (diagram time) A good scan tool makes diagnosing so much easier. As for that water pump leak, that can easily be verified by adding pressure to the cooling system. Use a cooling system pressure tester to add pressure then look around to find leak.
Man I wish it was the 2005 I have one where I'm not sure why the low speed fan doesn't appear to come on when I turn the A/C on so I get cool temperatures but n I t cold. But I have 2005 touring non turbo.
