I've just ordered 'Beneath The Surface' from eBay for less than the price of cod and chips after watching this wonderful Who's Views last night. It has been a good few years since I last saw this trilogy. This is a really good time to pick up second hand *classic* DVDs for bargain prices if your missing your fave stories. That classic series era of 1970 to 1977 has never been equalled in my humble opinion.

Agree for me the new Who Silurians looked tooo Star Trek & very Voyager in ways.
In mid 70s Australia once colour tv started I remember Xmas holidays watching a selected colour Dr Who episodes covering from Pertwee to the beginning seies of Tom they showed a whole story all episodes in a day ❤ we had lotsa Dr repeats here in OZ shame we got our VCR in 79 would loved being able tape earlier. Cheers JT & Panel again 🎉❤

Don't know that Hulke "created" the notion of underground dwelling reptilians, as it's been a trope of UFO lore for quite a while, prior to 1970. Having said that, The Silurians IS absolutely superb. Watch it a couple of times, each year, without fail.

Planet of the Apes (novel) was 1963. Having said that it was about 'Apes' and the novel played the twist as the story within the story. The heroes gets back to Earth, only to discover that humans never became dominant and THEN the two astronauts who are reading the story are discovered to be apes who openly laugh at the idea that humans could do anything other than drool.
It is a bit of a weird read to be honest.
I did some poking around. There seems to be a few reptile races in Conan stories, but I don't know much about them. Taking a guess that they were more a standard fantasy race.
Harry Harrison did West of Eden, but that was 1984.

I completely dismiss most criticisms of Warriors of the Deep. I have heard all the complaints and I just don't care at all. I know this is an unlikely opinion, but I regard Warriors of the Deep as a superb Dr Who story. I really do.

Hi there, great video chat, as we know on this channel RTD like to push his messaging through new/Disney Who. With the current show his messaging has been VERY gender politics centric.
I strongly suspect that with the upcoming new show RTD will go down the ecology/global warming storyline, i.e. the Sea Devils finally show themselves to mankind enforce because we’re bugging up the planet and its all our fault!

I predict a storyline similiar to Aquaman 2!

Hungry Earth was... yeah... The only bit I found interesting was the season arc plot where Rory gets removed. The rest of it just didn't work. A deep drill rig run by three people? It was clear there was no real budget which is why they brought back... and brought back... and brought back a Silurian character cause they still had the costume and the actress still fit into it.
They were visually... okay, but made no sense in context of their backstory and were basically humans in make up acting like humans in make up rather than a race that acted and thought completely differently from us.
Hated Madam what's her face. "Look at Me! I am So progressive cause I am in a sexual relationship with a woman!" Sigh. Orangutans are I believe the closest to humans, but if you romantically hooked up with one of them you would get locked up.
Warriors of the Deep - I don't remember much. Saw it on release and was excited cause it was the first return of both Sea Devils and Silurians. I had seen both before cause ABC (Oz) TV had repeat rights and Jon and Tom got shown regularly 6:30 weeknights for years when I was growing up. Only thing I really remember from Warriors of the Deep was the massive foreshadowing of the chemical that killed marine life.
