Greetings! Just a question. If i make underbase for blue shirt, do I need to use transparent or opaque ink for top coat? Doesn't it mix with the blue shirt and create another color? Thanks!
I know this is an old video but have questions. I can’t seem to clear the screen around the edge of the top colors, basically the same amount of the choke on the underbase. It leaves a spotty outlined edge on the print. I’m on a manual press. I’ve tried pushing, pulling, using a lot of pressure, hard flood, different mesh counts and even single stroke on 156mesh and nothing is working. Any tips would be appreciated.
Are your pallets nice and flat, and squeegees in good shape? Did you have any luck washing out the screens completely. We'll choke the under base 1 pixel or point. Sometimes 2. Or, spread the top colors 1-2.
Dude! My name is Jason and I feel like this video was made just for me! I was wondering if I was doing something wrong because I choked my base by 0.5pt and had some bleeding. Now I see I did it right but should also increase my choke to a full point. Thanks... almost 4 years later 😬
Hey Jason! If you can keep your registration tight, you could get away with .5. The white base will tend to bleed or stamp out a little, one of the reason for choking the base and also so you have some room for the registration to dance around a little between stations. Nothing wrong with using a 1 point choke to make printing easier. Most clients couldn't tell you the difference. If they are super picky, you may need to tighten it up a little. For the most part, 1 pt works fine.
When I look at the print preview, the underbase does not show up, it looks like its embossed in the document so I dont know if that's going to transfer to film correctly
Thanks for watching! Let us know what videos you would like to see in the comments.

Perhaps try making the under base a color besides white. I like to use a pale blue.
"choke your underbase". I like where this is going.
LOL
