Lovely video and brings back memories of our trip over the Canadian Rockies a couple of years ago. The bears could be a nuisance as they caused "bear jams" which was dozens of cars just stopping on the highway with people wanting photograph's. After a week and you'd seen dozens of bears, moose, eagles etc it became normal viewing but everyone still stopped. Probably the most stunning place we've visited in the world to date. I've had bears in my campsite before - Mostly in the Bob back in Montana, all I can suggest is that unless the wind was blowing hard , and you didn't smell it, it was unlikely a bear. They have a powerful musk and just about the worst breath. Something about their diet - the cross between huckleberries, garbage and hikers from the east coast . :) Could be a curious Elk. any interesting prints in the ground by your tent?
Wow!! What beautiful scenery to wake up to. One of my goals is to make it to Banff. Thank you for the ride along you give us all. Oh by the way I bet it was Sasquatch checking things out!

I think it was a 50qt... but we got rid of it once we made Alaska. The latches were not working right and we rarely used it with the fridge in the 4Runner.
Hi Guy’s great show ! Just gonna share a little bit of Grizzly experience .........Cook well away from your tent ! Before going to bed , hang a sweaty T shirt outside your tent and it should keep the bears away. Placing a yogurt container full of bleach can also work 😃
Magnificent country people! Breathtaking every direction. They spend plenty of time on their hinds to sniff things out. That cool, calm and collect McCuiston aura sent him packin' lol. Remember one time my wife and I were tenting it on the ground in some Canadian wilderness and we had noises near the camp and when we finally gave a call we heard the hoof beats of a moose stomping to make quick time out of there. That'll get the adrenaline pumping lol.
If you guys head back up here at some point I'd suggest right around this time. Its busy but not crazy and the water levels are high. When we went up in 2016, we stayed 3 nights in Banff and two in Jasper. That was June 3-8th. From what the locals said, the "Prime" tourist season is July 1st thru Oct 1st. I would instead of an alarm system set up like a trail cam so you can see what came crawling up to your tent at night . bears usually won't mess with tents unless you have food inside
That's the main thing; keeping smells to a minimum. We also try to camp away from crowded campgrounds where bears are more likely to be acclimated to human activity.

Gas. Someone likely had gas and didn’t own up to it! lol

@@LifestyleOverland Thank You!!
I live about 5 ish hours north of Jasper :)
We came right through your area then!
Did you take the famous Alaska highway north?
Stay tuned for the next episode ;) (yes!)
When I start my 7 on 7 off schedule, I want to do a road trip up that road :)
We call it Crown land. Open camping depending on the area.
it's a dream ... the best
Hey I’m new to your channel been binge watch it like Netflix haha. I’ve been looking into overlanding for a while now! Love the videos. This is the dream! But an idea came to me! Looks like you guys eat pretty healthy and it looks amazing every time she should start a channel showing her “Overland meals”. Would be very interested see how you guys prep and buy enough food between trips without wasting any. Just an idea keep it up maybe I’ll see y’all at an expo one day!
Loving the Canada videos! As an Aussie I wouldn't really know about bears, but it was probably either a basket baller or a a bear to be standing that high. ;)
Kinda what I was thinking!
Did you look for tracks around your camp?
It poured rain all night so even a bulldozer would have gotten away with it!
I spend my winters skiing in banff and jasper
