    Lovely video and brings back memories of our trip over the Canadian Rockies a couple of years ago. The bears could be a nuisance as they caused "bear jams" which was dozens of cars just stopping on the highway with people wanting photograph's. After a week and you'd seen dozens of bears, moose, eagles etc it became normal viewing but everyone still stopped. Probably the most stunning place we've visited in the world to date. Thank you for the video and reminder.

    Yeah, if you even so much as STOP in the park to look at a viewpoint, get food, or - in your case - stay at a place in Jasper (the Townsite is in the Natl Park), Parks Canada makes you purchase a pass.
    I live an hour from Banff and spend a great deal of time in Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Glacier and others every year, so I purchase an annual family pass for us.

    I watched and love your trip across the country. The warm breath that you felt on your hand probably from the native God. We (the Hmong) people believe that when you stay on their land without pray or asking for stay, the spirit will warm you that they are exit. Especially in the wilderness and in the American Native Reservation areas.
    keep that life. I love every episode of your trip. Next time, go too Southeast Asia countries.

I was driving an old 1990 4Runner. Made it there and back no problem! Our goal was to reach Tuk! Unfortunately the summer road wasn't finished yet; normally you can only drive from Inuvik to Tuk via an ice road them build during the winter months. Still planning to finish the drive to Tuk in the next couple of years. The best part of the drive was the Dempster Highway from Dawson to Inuvik...incredible stretch of road with some of the best camp spots you'll ever stay at!! Can't wait for you guys to drive that!

They have a powerful musk and just about the worst breath. Something about their diet - the cross between huckleberries, garbage and hikers from the east coast . :) Could be a curious Elk. any interesting prints in the ground by your tent?

    Magnificent country people! Breathtaking every direction. With your tent up above the Turtleback and 98.6 degrees blowing across those knuckles I'd say you had a big furry (preferably black) bear visitor. They spend plenty of time on their hinds to sniff things out. That cool, calm and collect McCuiston aura sent him packin' lol. Remember one time my wife and I were tenting it on the ground in some Canadian wilderness and we had noises near the camp and when we finally gave a call we heard the hoof beats of a moose stomping to make quick time out of there. That'll get the adrenaline pumping lol.

    If you guys head back up here at some point I'd suggest right around this time. Its busy but not crazy and the water levels are high. Also for that park pass thing its due to you driving on the icefield parkway. That highway is basically a "tourist" highway so they consider it staying in the park. If you come back I'd suggest contacting Travel Alberta to see what they can do for you. I cant see it being an issue getting the park pass comped and they might even be able to hook you up with other cool stuff. If you have trouble getting a response let me know and I'll see if I can get a direct contact.

    What were your travel dates for this trip. Been watching a few of the "To Alaska" vids, and I'm guessing your late in the season. When we went up in 2016, we stayed 3 nights in Banff and two in Jasper. That was June 3-8th. From what the locals said, the "Prime" tourist season is July 1st thru Oct 1st. On our return trip thru the Ice Fields Parkway (Banff / Jasper) corridor about Sept 8th (ish) it was so busy, you couldn't find a parking space for a 25' RV trailer. Wanted to hit Lake Louise then, but any RV parking was two miles away...

      The video series lags several months for production. Believe this was sometime in July-August

      @@LifestyleOverland Thanx...just trying to get a bearing, on the season. Our 2016 trip I believe we left out of Jasper June 7th and arrived in Fairbanks June 28th. We had good weather, very little rain, and rather warm weather. During our 3 night stay in Dawson City Yukon, I got sun burnt...

    Welcome to our back yard. I want to thank you for teaching your daughter it is important to clean up. You pay to travel the icefield parkway. If you had a park pass then you don't have to pay. Park pass allows you to stay over night. Camping in government sites costs a bit extra.

      Yes, we re-geared to 4.88's about a year ago. Huge improvement!

      It's made by Partner Steel. Just Google them for a website and dealers. They can be hard to find.

    I would instead of an alarm system set up like a trail cam so you can see what came crawling up to your tent at night . bears usually won't mess with tents unless you have food inside

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  6 років тому

      That's the main thing; keeping smells to a minimum. We also try to camp away from crowded campgrounds where bears are more likely to be acclimated to human activity.

    Hey I’m new to your channel been binge watch it like Netflix haha. I’ve been looking into overlanding for a while now! Love the videos. This is the dream! But an idea came to me! Looks like you guys eat pretty healthy and it looks amazing every time she should start a channel showing her “Overland meals”. Would be very interested see how you guys prep and buy enough food between trips without wasting any. Just an idea keep it up maybe I’ll see y’all at an expo one day!
