Thank you so much Vedanta NY for give us this opportunity. And I shall be glad if my questions are asked to swamiji.
      1. If soul exists? If there is any proof?
      2. I ghost exist?
I know that my 2nd question is little bit funny. I don't believe in ghost but there is a large number of people who believe in it and they also told that they experience that.
This subject is also use in places like movies and sometimes in someone's profit.
So i think it should be cleared.
      Thanking you.

Wow!!! Thank you so much swamiji. The Brahman through your mind has made my mind to understand that HE is actually experiencing all my mind's experiences. I am excited and very happy today. The sense of doership has disappeared in my mind and my mind is able to look at clearly the experience of one and only Brahman in my mind as well as in the minds of others. My mind also understands today that there is no difference between jivatma and paramatma. Infact, I can see it clearly that there is no jivatma at all. There IS only and One Parabrahmam. What a nice and Amazing understanding? My mind understands that I dont have any conflict with duality in the world I see. Now, my mind feels that it can stand the anger, rage, pleasure and pain that arises in it. I have no problem to witness them and see them dissolving and disappearing.

The confusion of mind and true consciousness is huge. I still sense an unease about being truly conscious only then, when I have no experience of it. It is scary for it reminds me of death. What purpose does consciousness serve, if I cannot be aware of it at the moment? I gather that hyper-consciousness/turyia is that state that lies beyond common consciousness, which can be „experienced“ without mind (objects), but in the moment of awarness. It is so difficult getting to that „place“. I listened to Swamis teaching last night and while he explained it, I became still and full of peace. I ended up in a dream in a foreign land as a male monk clearly feeling turyia as a state of being in my dream. It was beautiful. Thank you for all that you do.

      ma'm just a curiosity!
from ur name, it seems that u are born in a country different from INdia.
Despite being born in India, sometimes it is difficult for me to understand the concepts put forth by swamiji, how do u manage to understand this vedantic philosophy?

    • @Katrinagreen5252
      @Katrinagreen5252 6 років тому +5

prachand prapaat you have opened my eyes, I am not sure of the answer, could it be karmic? In a previous life I was exposed to the teachings?
Or is it more practical? In the west we have great wealth and privilege to be born in a nation with access to education, health care and opportunities available to most to create wealth and happiness.
And yet we are mentally ill as a society, ravaged by addiction, mental illness, depression, suicide, domestic violence, narcissism and unhappiness. We have a divorce rate of 50%!!
What went wrong? We should be happy?? The great teachers and saints, such as Sivananda and Yogananda and many others knew the students in the west would be ready based on experience of pursuing the ego, its a recipe for misery.
In India you have so much access to the greatest spiritual teachings on earth juxtaposed with a country coming into economic greatness and wealth. India is and will be a great super power. But I feel that many Indians will also discover what we have, pursuit of the ego and worldly things achieves nothing in terms of personal happiness, in fact it leaves you poor.
I have studied the great saints, Yogananda and Sivananda particularly. I practice yoga daily and every spare opportunity I come back for the teachings from this great teacher in this video its the only thing that’s real. So through experience I guess I understand that the ego and maya are the root cause if suffering, not from teachings from experience. At first it all seemed like theory but I kept contemplating life and the people around me and recognised the truth in the teachings they then became part of me. Truth = beliefs
Just look around you in your life and really look at the west, even with wealth are they really happy? Really? It's fine to pursue material happiness and householder duties but Dont identify with it.
This probably was not helpful but I would he interested in your thoughts?

      6:25 a.m.
I was just about to start my day.
And this answer of you made me to think upon the wealth which I already have.
now it seems that I was just uselessly overthinking about my miseries.
Swami vivekananda mentioned in his speeches, "an empty stomach can not learn yoga"
In fact , I myself is trying my best to follow this path but somehow it is becoming a hard thing for me day by day.
      Do u practice Rajyoga?

Patanjali's *Raja Yoga* encompasses *all the three yogas,* i. e., Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Karma Yoga. The three yogas are not three different paths of Yoga; it is one and the same path. It only depends on where the emphasis is put according to one's different taste and preference in practice but that does not mean choosing one at the expense of the other two. Hence, for equilibrium, all the three Yogas are to be practiced. The practice of all the three yogas is Raja Yoga. Now, in my opinion, *Advaita Vedanta* is non other than Raja Yoga with more emphasis on Jnana Yoga.

You can't sail against the flow. Because it is not you.
You as body, mind and intellect is just like a fallen leaf on the water. The water that flows carrying you with it is Karmma. You as a differred Self is manifestation of Karmma. So is the Samsara. You will remain a differred Self until your Karmma burns itself out. Karmma gathi is Jeeva Samsara gathi. You are living your Karmma.

It has been observed for quite some time that you have been watching Swamiji's teachings and every time you have disapproved it and have suggested that being humane and serving humanity is the best policy. Yes Sir, that is the best policy indeed. This kind of selfless service not only to human beings but also to all beings have been advocated by all great men like Buddha, Mahaveera, Krishna, Shankaracharya, Christ, Zoroaster, Muhammad, Nanakdev, Kabirdas, Rohidas, Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Gandhiji, Ambedkarji and many more great men. Nobody is forcing you to believe their philosophies or to be religious. Just follow your conscience and try to serve all beings with equal feelings without differentiating their caste, creed, names and nationalities. We are not great enough to criticise those great men or the persons who propagate their eternal philosophies.

Namaste Swamiji, I have one question that has been bugging me since a while now. So we cannot objectify consciousness as it's not an object but rather the subject. But is it possible to look back at an event and try to remember what was it that was witnessing it ? Can I perhaps catch hold of "I" there in the realms of my memory as the memory of the witness has already been recorded? It is in a way thinking of it as an object but isn't there a difference if we do it in a memory? It's like we cannot see ourselves without a mirror but if someone takes a picture we can later after the event has passed see it. I don't know if I'm making any sense but an answer would be highly appreciated. And I want to thank you sincerely from my heart, every thing I know about vedanta has been because of you. You have gotten me much and much closer to self realization, I give you my utmost gratitude.

The problem arises when your ego starts to take over you and you lose control of your actions so to hinder your experience.

The aim of each individual is to know about there true nature. We have 3 ways to achieve it:
      1. Yogic way - Yogis take samadhi to loose/give up all sheets external to the pure consciousness which you are.(Annmakosha, pranmakosha, manomaikosha, vigyanmaikosha).
      2. Advaita Vedanta: Gives you the knowledge how to feel/experience separation between pure consciousness and the maaya of different names and forms. Advaita Vedanta says there is only one reality which you are(The consciousness).
And the third way is the way you are talking about.
      3. Bhakti/devotion: Devotion to the one whom you find as the creator of this Brahman and completely dissolving into it(Ecstasy).

    Question to Swamiji -
Is there anyway to stop mental and physical agony brought by psyche drugs and so called doctors?
I have lost all my emotions. Once faith in God, now gone. Love for dear ones is lost. Empathy for others gone.
Memories are lost , capabilities are lost - both physical and mental.
I couldnt cherish anything - it burns.
Now whats the path to get back on track?
Now I wish only hell for them who diganosed wrong who (un)knowingly put me to hell and leave it there.
    Will my curses do anything?
Would they get their karma back or it all is in literature and so called Vedas ?

With all respect, as a woman,
this dharma is difficult to hear, when the first example used to address the question of devotion is that of a mother who is devoted to others to the extent that she isn’t thinking about herself. This is posed as an example of the.optimal, unselfishness. Somehow, it doesn’t feel or sound right to have a man who has no direct experience of this mostly modern role of women or what actually goes on for women. This is where reflecting on perhaps your own personal experiences feels more relevant to us, women and men living in this context. Especially now, we must tell our own stories. Women have placed others’ needs above their own to everyone’s detriment..leading to burnout and infantilizing of others. We are now required to spiritualize and moralize the social structures that have Oppressed and suppressed the Feminine and all things vulnerable. Again, Swamiji, you have been a most loving and clear light of guidance for me. I do hope you will consider this sensitive feedback.

u r missing the main point.. nobody is saying that women shud be such selfless and shud not think abt herself..... but the point is selfless work or devotion is very much a symbol of greatness!! why women only? there r plenty of examples when a man dies to save some other (may be from fire or from drowning etc. )..
wud u tell such ppl "look mr. u have a child to bring up back home, u have to take care of ur old parents, u hv to fulfill ur own dreams...think of them..these r very important...so dont risk ur own life...rather leave this man to his fate" ?? or u wud recognize the greatness of the man and bow dwn to him that he overcame all such selfish agendas and did what was necessary at that point??

      Namaste,
Thank you for your insightful comment. To clarify on Swamiji's first example, please remember the incident he is talking about is more than a hundred years old. The time, place and social situation are all very different. So the example may not be of much relevance or applicable in today's world.
In Vedanta, there is no reference to gender at all. It is self journey from a lower truth to a higher truth in the path of self inquiry. As you mentioned correctly, women must tell their own stories and experiences however though there maybe a large number of practicing women sanyasins, not sure if they have a platform to share their experiences in this format. I do see the Vedanta centers of NY, LA have quiet a number of women speakers on this subject.

Diane Tetrault its an example to work for others to let your own desires take a seat back. You can have your own way to do this. Doesn't mean mother's job is lesser and someone doing more outdoor work is higher or otherwise. However desires cause this trap of thinking. I don't know what's modern and what isn't. If you want to raise children you have to go through motherhood or fatherhood. its no different than ages ago Can you use this desire in way Swamiji explained

Comment displays a lack of clear or intuitive understanding of sanatana dharma, vedanta, rishika traditions, all creation as divine, or even the shiva- sakthi complementarity. IMO, if one were to clear oneself of ingrained Abrahamic patriarchal baggage & associated conditioned prejudices, along with the attendant feminist 'equality' reactionary responses first, then one will realize this question is profoundly moot.

Faith is only for the faithless. I can't taste my own mouth so it must not exist? Being healthy is for the sic. Getting rich is a poor man's idea.

I have nothing against this man except to say that he is sincere but naive.
