  • I've been using the NuPhy Air75 for the past 3 weeks now, working with it on a daily basis, playing games, editing videos and while I still think it looks fantastic, I’m also glad to finally send it back, because, for me, this low-profile mechanical keyboard just isn’t the right choice.
    But it might be for you!

    Hey everyone! 🙂
    NuPhy reached out to me after the video started to do really well, which is all thanks to you! They also gave me a *5% code* you can use if you do choose to get an Air75, or anything else from their store. So *use the code "cheese" when you checkout* for a discount.
    Also, I've updated my links in the description to affiliate ones, you won't pay anything extra, but I do get a commission from every purchase, which I am incredibly grateful for 😊
    Also, a lot of you have been asking what game I'm playing at around 1:30, it's called Terra Nil and you can get the demo on Steam right now: store.steampowered.com/app/1593030/Terra_Nil/
    If you wanna know more about it, you can also watch a video I made about it here: ua-cam.com/video/AeeErMFujdw/v-deo.html

    The screws they used are called self-tapping screws. They are like tiny drills that create threads as they are screwed in. These are typically used to save cost on injection molded plastic parts. They are fine as long as you don't plan to take it apart after installation. Frequent undoing of the screws can lead to a failed screw hole. This is fine for most consumer electronics. But if they have frequent modding and repair in mind they should go for threaded inserts, though at a higher cost.

      Is there a way to mod these screw brackets for peace of mind?

    • @cucumberworks
      @cucumberworks 2 роки тому +5

      @@PasserbyP if you are careful you can take it apart and put it back once or twice without any problems. It is only necessary if you want to fix it though. If that’s the battery you will only need to do that after at least 2 years of use. And adding metal threading to the existing holes will be very tricky.

    • @PasserbyP
      @PasserbyP 2 роки тому

      @@cucumberworks woah i wish i knew where to start seems like something i wud be interested in.

    • @BlockCylinder
      @BlockCylinder 2 роки тому +7

      @Cucumberworks is correct on all counts but I'd like to add that self-tapping or thread-forming screws are usually not intended to make their own hole; they are meant to be driven into a pilot hole that is slightly undersized. The screw threads cut new threads into the wall of the pilot hole.
      Also, if you stripped a few of the screw heads it's possible you're using the wrong screwdriver. It's common to think that if the driver *can* turn the screw then it's good fit, but Phillips screwdrivers come in a bunch of sizes and only the *correct* size is a *correct* fit. Going up or down a tip size is more likely to lead to stripped screw heads. There are also JIS screws and screwdrivers which look very similar to Phillips but are not interchangeable.
      It seems that we, the consumers are thinking in terms of how many times we can replace the battery to maintain the product for many years. The manufacturer is probably thinking the battery will exceed the product warranty period, and therefore the case screws are a non-issue (for them).

      Well, typically when a creator starts out, theres a period of time while they may be making great content, however due to the youtube algorithm they may have not been promoted accurately. It could be something as small as not optimizing the thumbnail image or captoon. Eventually they make enough small tweaks as they continue making content, it creates a snowball effect and they ultimately gain additional subscribers.

    I like that they put the delete button in the right position, top right, unlike Keychron, but they went ahead and put the Fn key on the right hand side instead of the left, between Ctrl and Win keys, where it should be.
    BT + 2.4GHz is a great idea!
    Finally, I wish more keyboards had "Sleep" shortcut key. It's underrated in its usefulness. I have a B.O.W HW086 keyboard and it has a sleep shortcut on the F10 key. It's my most used shortcut. Super useful!

      You, a Windows user, live without a Left Alt key?!
      So no left handed alt tab... do you switch apps with Windows key + number row? Or pressing Win+Tab for task view? Or just clicking the taskbar?
      My first mech came with a feature to rebind caps lock to Fn. I have never looked back! IMO it's kind of silly that caps lock is such a prominent key, considering how niche the use case is for most users.

    The Led's flashing is from natively recording at a high frame rate depends on the Hz of the Led's but usually 60 to 50 Fps syncs with them while lower or higher causes issues. Also you haft to fix this on the recording end not post.

    Wow 5 sides dye-sub! They look pretty good in the video. I suspect because of the low profile keycaps, the vacuum suction machine wasn't able to centre the keycaps as well as in the normal cherry/OEM profile keycaps, maybe if they mounted them on something to make them the same height as the OEM keycaps, the alignment might be better. So tempted to go wild and make my own set of keycaps. I think is less than $50 USD for a 108 fully custom made set.

    Try playing with your shutterspeed to get rid of the flickering. Most editing programs also have flicker removal tools.

    • @paul_serov
      @paul_serov Рік тому

      Flickering appears when frequency of alternating current (AC) in your country is different from camera's frame rate.
      If it's 50Hz and you're shooting indoors, then you have to use 25 or 50 frames per second (PAL) while shooting video and use 1/50 or 1/100 shutter speed accordingly.
      If it's 60Hz, then use 30 or 60 fps (NTSC) and 1/60 and 1/120 shutter speed.

    • @joelmulder
      @joelmulder Рік тому

      @@paul_serov In an ideal world, yes. But you’ve clearly never worked in actual video production.
      In reality, flicker can still happen even if you’re using what should be the correct shutter speed.
      That’s why modern cameras have highly adjustable variable shutter speeds so you can dial it in just right, and why if you can’t get that to work, it’s best to fix it in post.
      Also, being indoors or outdoors has nothing to do with it.

    • @paul_serov
      @paul_serov Рік тому

      @@joelmulder, I didn't work in big video production, but I'm photographer and shooting ads videos for my blog so I have experience.
      Yeah, it's ideal, but if you break these basic rules, you'll get flicker guaranteed.
      Cameras have flicker reduction and you have post-processing to remove it, but as always you have to set up things properly in the beginning.
      It has everything to do with that 🙂
      If there is no artificial light powered on AC, there will be no flickering problems.
      So...

    • @joelmulder
      @joelmulder Рік тому

      @@paul_serov I for one do work in video production as a cinematographer, which means I'm the one who responsible for the lighting looking good.
      And can tell you from experience, lights don't always flicker exactly with the frequency of the mains.
      LEDs emit light at a relatively wide range of frequencies.
      Typical household lights operate anywhere from 50 to 90 hertz, but the range can be much wider depending on the quality of the lights. Don't get me started on the LEDs that're in displays and such.
      I'll say it again, the real world is rarely as simple as. we're often taught it is.
