I've had a lovely Quaker appear on my back door step last night. Absolutely someone elses pet. We're looking and posting) It doesnt care about anything but being on my shoulder. Not sure if they can bond quickly with more than one human. If we cant find the owner we can take it to animal sanctuary, otherwise i think i just got adopted.
We give our Quaker long paper sucker sticks he loves weaving them through his cage bars. We don’t suggest the wood dowls as he got a splinter in the back of his throat required a emergency vet visit and they had to put him under to get out paper is much more flexible.
I have a Green Cheek Conure, he’s an only bird ( I have a cat too) my cat is 15 I may get another bird in the future once he passes, I feel so bad my Pennie is by himself when I work but he gets out an hour 1/2 in the morning, then 3 hours when I get home and when I’m off (3 days a week) he gets all day as long as I’m home….I love your ideas! Quaker’s are amazing just by watching them you can see they need constant stimuli, I love their voices and the laughing as they run away thinking they got something from you! Lol
Another bird can definitely help especially how cuddly and attention needy conures are! Keep in mind youll have to spend initially tons of time working on their bonding as you cant put them in the same cage initially. Conures particularly love to chew on things such as wood, cardboard and paper toys ☺️
Still cant get my Quaker to do anything lol just got her and she is 9months old and probably starting puberty so I have no idea what im doing lol but she seems to love me a lot for only just having met me
Quakers are clingy birds. If you have the time to give them they cling on. But if your away you dont want them stressing and getting bored. Takes time to build their independence. They start puberty around a year old so they may seem more independent at that time
It's like they choose to say wherever they want to say. I've noticed that when I let my quaker watch videos of other birds talking she seems to wanna copy them more then she wants to Cody what I say.
It is long time since I've watched any of your videos :D But I am happy to watch them again. Bruno loves to steal things from me, spoons, pencils, forks etc. Sometimes i am giving him empty pen without ink but I have to watch him closely because he is able to chew any type of plastic no matter how hard it is. Sometimes I am giving him my old Kinder Surprise toys that doesn't have small elements. But yes, quaker parrots get bored in a few minutes...or seconds, so I still have to find new toys. I gave Bruno my 3D origami to play with, part of apple tree perch I've made for his new cage, I am also reusing parts of his toys. Sometimes water bottle caps are working too because he loves them, he is not chewing them, just carrying like a bowl or turning those around and throwing everywhere. He is also chewing his wooden perches - I de barked them, and baked in the oven to kill any bacteria, but those still have some parts of softer wood on them, that he can chew on. He also has one foraging toy - one that survived - that I hanged on the middle of the cage so he has to sit on it in order to forage - when he had easy access to it, he was just treating it like another food bowl, he wasn't thinking how to open it anymore since he learned it once. Now he has to balance on it similar to like he would balance on things in the nature in order to find food. In this moment he is chewing remaining part of old wooden toy that I gave him. But he grew large for a quaker in my opinion, and he is very, very strong so nothing can stay not shredded for long ;) Plus he tries to put this wooden block in between his cage bars :D Bruno was always kinda independent kinda clingy, now his cage is in my office so he spends most time with me, with big window with wiew from the second floor, with birds - mostly doves - sitting on my fir or my window, and I am listening to music, watching movies, playing games, working...on my computer so Bruno can watch/listen too :D Oh and he finally has his first birthday in a few days :D 15 May.
Its great to hear from you guys again and that Bruno is doing well! Im happy to hear his cage is in your office, sounds like you guys get tons of time together 🥰 Mine also like to steal bottle caps 😂 As for the wooden perch question, they usually use safe wood for them. You can double check but as long as the wood is safe they can chew it. They dont swallow the wood.
my 19 yr old qp, coco is like bruno. he loves doing those things you mentioned. i retired 9 yrs ago, moved to another state and rented a big house. they got their room( all 3 parrots of mine.) and love it. they are out of their cages for the day from my getting up to bedtime. they love that and can come to me anytime.they are all a lot of company to me. my girlfriend recently moved in with me and they love her.

Hi! We adopted a Quaker parrot from a neighbor that was scared of it. We have a green-cheeked conure. The Quaker wants to be near the conure, however our conure is scared of the Quaker. They bite each other’s feet. The Quaker has hurt the conure little feet. Help! And our Quaker bites…HARD! Our conure is so sweet and docile. Help! We love our conure and our new Quaker, however, we don’t know what to do. The Quaker now lets us pet it and follows us and imitates the conure exactly to the point we don’t which one made the noise because the Quaker imitates the conure exactly. The Quaker is very protective of the conure it seems because when we are holding the conure on our finger or shoulder the Quaker flies around us and keeps coming at us. Help! Thank you in advance for ny help or suggestions you may have for us. 😊. Love your videos!

i have a baby quaker parrot he is 11 weeks old. its onely been with me 1 week. and i have a disability which means i use a zimmer frame indoors. An use a wheelchair. my question is should i get his wings clipped so as he is eaha
Wing clipping is never a good idea unless for a medical issue specifically with them. Wing clipping leads to multiple health problems as those are their exercise and movement, they are more prone to injury as they can still fly but no longer well. If they fall they cannot get up to safety. It also causes mental health problems as they get depressed from being unable to move around as much. Forgive for stating it this way but it is disabling your bird. The best thing you can do is to have a good true bond with them and start recall training. Quakers in general are very attached birds but if you have a very strong recall training itll help a lot! Here is a video on how to do so (especially before they hit puberty and become rebellious 😅) ua-cam.com/video/M0lAK_GNVXo/v-deo.htmlsi=UCj6KbAaTZ0GM0mb
I live alone in a 1350sq apartment. The other day I left his door cage open so he can get some exercise. I did think a few time will he get hurt so I closed all the doors and no fans were running. Is this ok? I got home he was in his cage as usual. Franky is hard to figure out when it comes to treats but he loves watermelon!!! What do you suggest? Lastly, what do you think of the clicker and a stick training?

Hi, ok so it sounds crazy but a Quaker parrot just flew into my apartment and doesn’t want to leave (very sweet birb) and advice to care for it? I am taking it to the vet to be checked up and make sure he or she I s healthy
Hello, so it sounds like it might be someones’s lost pet. Please try to put up fliers and look for the owner before keeping it. As for caring for it in the meantime, you dont have to cage them. Give them pellets, some fresh finely chopped veggies, fruits, small amounts of walnuts as treats. Dont let them fly out, so dont keep windows or doors without mesh netting open, you definitely want to find the owner. On my channel you’ll find tons of care videos if you cant find the owner and decide to keep them
Definitely someone’s lost pet if it’s tame and doesn’t want to leave. I hope you’ve found the rightful owner by this time as someone is missing their Birb & wondering if they are alive every day.
is there a specific type of cardboard you give them? i'm assuming you can't give them an amazon box due to the ink, or do you just give them sections that don't have any ink? paper confetti is like a magnet for birds we've found, my sister has a fabric box that she fills with confetti or the soft paper rabbit bedding and her sun conure will sit in there for hours playing with it and eventually throwing it all out lol
Are lego’s safe, my parrot loves breaking apart the legos I build and sometimes putting them back together! She also takes the really small pieces and just chew and spin them in her mouth for hours, is that safe. She also occasionally flies them to her water bowl…she does that with most things actually 😮
I’d recommend trying to find some toys for them to break apart like cardboard a kebabs but sometimes they just have that one thing as long as they’re not swallowing it and there’s no toxins released when they chew it
It’s absolutely safe to allow them to play with the legos as many bird owners build legos for their birds into little houses & toys they can get in and out of. You may want to stay with the larger legos, but if you’re there with him, then he won’t swallow any of it.
