OMG best quaker vid ever. We have FIVE quakers - oldest is now 6 and the leader of the pack. So tired of people going on about their sweet little one that they have had for all of 3 months - they are truly little devils. i train them everyday. I hang with them everyday for at least an hour or two. I care for them as much as I care for my kids - bath, bedtime, regular meals, cleaning 'rooms', changing and updating toys, checking their health, their body/toes and MOST of all, watching over their interactions like they are in daycare ie break up fights, stop bullying, make sure everyone gets food, oh and stopping them from stealing shiny things from around the house. But they love us so much that they fly around the house and outside garden and still come home everyday.
Oh my gosh RIGHT!!! The amount of comments i get of “well MY quaker is an angel” im like bro they are a baby, wait until puberty. I love how much you care for them 😍 They are my children too, and man are they little bully’s 😒 my poor sun takes so much but at the end of the day they take so much care of her 🥺
@@mimisbirdhouse great video!! 💚 love your babies too! Also, just for future reference, “quaking” is a behavior that stems from an instinct that begins in the nestling stage 😊 quaker babies quake when they are hungry, specifically when they’re anticipating a feeding! The reasoning is the same though - excitement! Some babies all but grow out of it. But the large majority (as we well know) do not 😆 in my experience it seems to vary from one individual to another a little bit. Some do it any time they’re in an elevated emotional state, some do it mostly when they’re happy excited, and others do it when they’re being naughty or territorial! My Max is 3, still so much less stressful then a puppy, only time he's an assholes when I'm working a lot and then he uses his beak to remind me how clingy his little ass is. He still has never bit me hard enough to draw blood
I have three now, and two are rescues. The one who ISN'T is my special angel (4 years old) who acts more like a tiel than a quaker often (except for being territorial for me). I do NOT recommend quakers for new bird/pet owners. They are adorable lil demons.
five quakers? you've got your hands full. sounds like your are on the right track with them.they love to rip off things that are shiny. my qp did this in his younger days as well as jerk my glasses off to get my attention back then. well, gotta love'em.
100% she hit the nail on the head, especially when she said " loving little deamon." And I my bird does troll around and laugh about it. I'm still love my little green deamon.
I agree. These guys have a range of human-like behaviors and moods. My 20-year-old QP and I understand each other completely with our moods and feelings. My QP has mellowed out in his old age but still can be a demon sometimes. I'm 68 and we're probably the same age in bird years. my girlfriend and i love him even when he is a demon. Loads of fun when he's nice.
Overstimulation was the cause of my quaker, Jazzy, trying to bite my husband. Unfortunately, Jazzy had a stroke on Feb. 24 and he passed away. I miss him so much
I LOVE all of the information about those little brats called Quaker parrots. I rescued one about three years ago and just love him. I am happy to hear that what he is doing is part of who he is and I would never try to change it. Thank you so much for your great advice and fantastic channel about parrots.
Took one in 13 years ago and he’s the same from when we first got him, hates when you touch salt shakers…. He’s gotten a hold of mine and family members neck and hands 😂.
I just lost my Kiwi of 20 years. Thank you for sharing your videos. It's so comforting hearing their little voices. I love that you share the truth of teenage Quakers. They have such fun, yet very strong personalities.
i'm sorry to hear of your loss. my qp is 20. he is a lot of fun and lot of company to my elderly girlfriend and i. we have our memories and pictures and videos of them. we'll miss them when they are gone.
Just adopted a 5 year old female quaker, she's been with our family about a month now. Everything you said about behavior is spot on!!! I've had birds my whole life (44 years) and you definitely know your birds.
I have my second Quaker parrot. She is 18 years old. Never heard her growl or hiss...she mainly does a click noise when things scare or pies her off. I have other birds so even subtle body language hasn't been a big problem...but yes they do like to laugh after biting...which most nonbird people don't seem to think is funny at all. I love their busy, sassiness. They can be more of a challenge than some of my bigger birds....but so worth it. I enjoy seeing yours on the videos.
Im glad you enjoy our videos ☺️ quakers are so particular hahha they are so cute and sassy for sure! Definitely not for everyone though 😂 but for those of us who are for us they are so entertaining 😂
I had a Quaker for 25 years they're definitely unpredicble, but also so fun and cute. I told myself I wouldn't get another after mine passed away but I ended up getting another quaker primarily because I know their behaviors and their temperament . He just turned a year... wish me luck haha
I totally agree with everything you said! My Quaker lived to be 27 years old. She was the sweetest thing & the devil bird! If you spend time with them they can speak quite well. My girl could sing the entire Sesame Street song. Sometimes she would repeat a verse over and over waiting for me to sing. Other times she got angry and squawked if I sang. She was extremely smart, bossy, sweet and mean all in one little bundle. It took me a couple of years to stop trying to pick her up when she gave me several warnings. Oh and if she wasn't ready to be put in her cage, she would fly all over the house to get away......I knew that I would have to put a small towel over her to avoid getting bit if she didn't want to go to the cage. I did love her being part of the family. I still miss her. I will say that it is a commitment and anyone that can't commit to taking care of them for a long time (20-30 years) maybe should not get one.
You were so absolutely blessed to have them for 27 years!! I can imagine the pain of losing them but the bright side is you gave them a full happy long life and I loves reading this, she sounded amazing 🥺
My birb was just mean to anybody who wasn't me. He liked to shower and just chill, but only with me. He got out and was never seen again when I went camping, and I miss my Mr. Sam!
@Mona-K my first Quaker sang the old MacDonald song...only it was always "Sammi Daisy" had a farm....and she only wanted her guinea pigs on her farm...lol. Tmhey are so smart and have such strong likes and dislikes.
You nailed it. “Loving Little Devils”. Lol. I work at home and mine loves to sit on my lap and chill while I work. And there’s times where he’s all over the place. Lol
Thats amazing 🥹 My other quaker Luza has slowly become like that. A bit of a prankster but she is definitely gentle as well. My quaker in this video was a menace 😂
Honestly really funny birds but your right it takes a minute to learn their patterns and moods. We always ask him “whatcha doing” and he loves to respond with “witchita” which is hilarious
Always worried my little blue didn't like me completely because of the random bites, this video helps me feel better. I love blue but yes she's a demon 1000%
One of my quakers literally makes crosses with his beak on the floor in front of him when mad. It then gives you the looks of "cross this point and i will end you" 😂😂
lmaoo my quaker parrot(leslie) comes to my ear and hisses at me I dont even know why but its funny because she then flies away its pretty weird......... I raised her. Right now shes 3 months old and ohhh boy you perfectly described her.
Thats adorable 😭 sometimes mine will come to hiss at me to complain im not giving enough attention and the other will hiss because he wants to play 😂 crazy how they all have a different meaning
They are such difficult parrots. I have a conure and she’s sooooo much easier than my Quaker. My Quaker is an asshole. At night when it’s dark he actually can be super sweet. But daytime he’s unpredictable. I call him my daylight demon!

People's replies are so different from my experience. We adopted our Quaker as about a 2 1/2 year old. He was somewhat bitey when we first took him in, but he got over it. Breeding season tended to be a little rougher. The rest of the year he was snuggly. Loved to sing. I did clip the outer two flight feathers as he had a tendency to fly into things. We also had young children in and out of the house all the time, and I did not want to risk him slipping outside. I do suspect that not being fully flighted may tame some of the random aggression. I realize that upsets some, but I think it is important to work with the individual bird and the living situation. Reepicheep lived until he was almost 29 years. It is very strange without him. I truly can't say I ever saw him bite out of spite or just for fun, other than possibly one time more than 25 years ago.
Its just pros and cons really and what fits your personality and lifestyle. While they are needy gremlins who bite you for fun I do love their troll personality they are so funny and entertaining, soft and cuddly too ☺️ they arnt for everyone and thats okay!
You are so right! My loving little demon was the sweetest little girl 100%of the time, that is until she became and adult. Now she’s like playing Russian Roulette. You never know when that sweet feather baby will become a wild pterodactyl! And adorable lovable pterodactyl…
As a pet sitter with a quaker parrot for the first time, I really appreciate you. And this male parrot is in the puberty zone. I am actually after a couple of weeks and listening to you being able to read the signs. I have a avoided all the bites, but definitely getting better at it! you have really help me. Thank you.
Rescued a Quaker and named him Oscar (Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street). And maaaaan does that little turd live up to his name. He purs like a cat when I give him scratches on his neck and out of absolutely nowhere, he’ll just chomp my arm. I’ve also got a Goffin’s Cockatoo who was also a rescue. Used to pluck and have horrible separation anxiety and was scared to leave his cage. He’s fully recovered, no bald spots, and loves to fly outside. But to my point, rehabbing my cockatoo who’s species has a reputation for being difficult was significantly easier and more pleasant than any time I’ve had to deal with my Quaker. Love him to death but I don’t think I’ll be going out looking for another one anytime soon. Anyway, beautiful birds you have. Thanks for the video
This is the second time someone has told me a quaker is more difficult than a cockatoo 🥲 😂 The random flip to bite oh man 😂 Ive managed to get mine to learn to be more gentle but from time to time she will just break skin 😒 Glad they’ve made a recovery makes me happy to hear ☺️
@@mimisbirdhouse Yeah, he’s difficult. He was neglected for years which doesn’t make his temper any better. We’re still working on that lol But he’s sweet when he wants to be and I love him for that. Anyway, I hope you keep the videos coming. There’s no such thing as too much knowledge and it’s fun to see other people on their own journeys with their birds 🙂
3 weeks in with my 9 month old Quaker she is a cuddly, mischievous little shithead that seems to really like being with me, i really hope her personality doesn’t change cuz i like it
I thought mine was hissing. Then I realized he’s copying me whispering. He seems to know the context of a whisper, so he’ll sit on my shoulder and if he thinks someone is listening, he’ll whisper in my ear. If I don’t whisper back, he’ll bite my ear.
Hi Fellow Quaker friend Mimis, you rock! Advice, don't apologize for making content, you are helping people, and what you have here is spot on! Good on you! Mr. Otis is my blue QP, and he rocks, and yes he goes through everyone of these with exception of the hissing and wings out one. After years what I have observed is this Mr. Otis will hold a grudge, if you don't spend enough time he gets mad for a bit. And it's up to him as to when he's ready to drop the attitude. At first I used to get upset, now I just give him space and keep trying and then he's fine! So if in doubt, just give him space. One time he was in a mood, so I said ok, I am going to let you be free to experience real flight... He was never out on his own before, but I just knew that we bonded and I wanted him to have a chance to experience the world... And guess what he somehow found his way back after about an hour on his own, and ofcourse me looking like crazy! How he did it was beyond me. Also I won't do it again! Otis Flys free ua-cam.com/users/shorts6gpveW2OAEg Keep up the GREAT WORK, and I learned that tapping is sign that he's marking his spot, did not know that at all! Appreciate it! Stay strong all!
This is my dream but I’m terrified of losing Turkey the turquoise Quaker. It is inspiring. He’s flighted, and a good flyer, but I want him to roam free so much. I’d have been a nervous wreck but thanks for the motivation to continue towards this goal.
Great video and you hit the nail on the head when explaining their unpredictable, adorable, bratty antics. Described my Quaker to a tee. 😅 This was definitely informative and helpful to me - thank you!!
So my boyfriend's quaker has taken a liking to me. To the point where she does not like anyone else and will literally fly to me if someone is holding her and she sees me. And if I'm holding her, she will bite anyone else who comes near me. I call her my guard dog. She loves trolling my boyfriend, she literally laughs when she nips him and is a menace. I love my little demon baby 🖤
Hahaha awesome video, and so accurate! Yep, you are right quaker parrots finds it funny to see your pain. Bruno can come to me to kiss, cuddle etc. then he out of nowhere starts biting my hands so hard, I start to question my life choices ;) But he still is not messing with me as much as with others because I am ignoring his attempts to bite me, when my grandma started to show that she is scared every time Bruno comes to her very fast, he started to literally troll her. He was flying on her head, around her, biting her ears and fingers, things he never do to me. And he sometimes is coming to someone, biting ear, and starts laughing. And yes I have to guess what mood Bruno is at this moment, he seems cuddly then bam! bite. I know that he is angry if he sits in the cage for too long or if I am not home for too long. Or if i am trying to take something from him/ change his toys positions. He was absolutely furious when I bought him a new cage and started to move things from the old one. Hahaha yes the head shake :D Looks amazing when they do this. And tapping, Bruno is tapping my shoulder, usually when I am turning water on. Yep Bruno is sometimes hissing jus because. When it comes to the sounds when they are trying to mate with you...yea, it is hard to replicate you just need to hear that :D Sometimes he also is taking toys from me with visible aggression, like angry kid, like 'give me that freaking toy!!!' :D And yea, Bruno tries to mate my arm from time to time, that's when I know I have to back off. And yes I can agree with you on one more thing, when Bruno was a baby he was so sweet I was sure he won't bite me, when he started his puberty, well...:D Also sounds, when he was a baby he wasn't screaming. Now he has sleeping cage and cage dor a day because my parents can't stand his morning screaming at 5 AM :D And i kinda like those sounds.
I felt the trolling so much 😂 sometimes I will play with Kiwi by fake being scared and he will run up to me to scare me and he thinks he is so machco and will laugh 😂
I feel for you. Mine would sweetly like to climb on my shoulder, where, if he felt he wasn't getting noticed enough, would try to bite my earlobe badly. I would have to lean down and let him sit on the bed. I've read that if they are too agitated/ over stimulated it's best to have them step up on a stick. That way they can bite the stick if they're a little cranky. This is supposed to help with the cage territorial issues I read. I also found that since my bird liked attention so much, if he was being too nippy I could put him on the floor or cage top to cool off. I tried to associate him biting with being put down. His very first worlds when he was a handfed baby were him repeating his name and "Come here". So clearly he really wanted to be picked up. I think that's an insight into their thought process. They're very sociable birds and will laugh as they're giving you a nasty nip. You're so right about that. Dave and Jamie did mention sometimes interacting with stick training can be a good way to encourage the, "be gentle" or you won't get a treat" type behavior. My Quaker was fiend for fruit, which was only a treat lol.
This shows me my sister's quaker is the most chill bird ever 😂 Echo rarely hisses or quakes and just wants scritches constantly! She snuggles me for hours and gently preens my face. Shes gonna be 4 in a few months and is just the sweetest girlie
Man I had a Quaker (Twinkie) when I was a kid. Was a great friend, but learned by trial and error how to handle him. Experienced everything you mentioned in the video. He would go into this attack mode for about 10-15 minutes where he would lift up his wings, start laughing nonstop while climbing/sliding down from his cage, and sprint full speed to me just to climb and attack me 😂. Had it where he would be cuddling with me just to bite the crap outta my face with no warning. Would have to endure the bites while putting him in his cage/house and locking it until he calmed down. They're beautiful maniacs.
Quaker parrots are so mean but I think it's kinda cute. Like when my parrot starts sqeeking at me as soon as I go to speak I just tell her ,"Birdy shut yo bitch ass up" in a quit playful tone. Then she kinda starts to chill out a lil bit
I had a Quaker parrot. I did not have very many friends as a kid and Cricket my parrot was my best friend. Quakers can be territorial. Mine would fly down from a lighting fixture and bite people. One day a family friend was over. This friend was rather pompous. Cricket flew down and bit off the mole on her neck. I still miss Cricket.
If they are aggressive as in biting with anger making you bleed i agree, they like to lightly bite me to get a bit of an ow out of me and run away laughing, very common quaker thing
The quaker Im fostering is very hard to read, but im used to the easy body language of a cockatiel haha. He mocks my laugh and is not hand tame at all lol. Very cute though and he likes to make honking noises to wake me up
@@mimisbirdhouse hes a very cute little bird this quaker, named Buddy! He acts like he wants out but ive only had him for a few days and dont know if he'll just try and eat me if I do let him out lol.
@@mimisbirdhouse Alrighty haha, I dont wanna get nailed by that little quaker beak yet! Im only used to being nailed by my tiel with a disabled beak so it doesnt hurt that much haha
@@mimisbirdhouse I let him out and all he wants to do is talk with me and laugh at me when he bites my shirt or eat my hair. Hes quite the little troll lol, kind of hard to corral him back to his cage though cause hes stubborn! He reminds me of every bratty husky Ive ever worked with haha
My quaker parrot is the chillest bird ever. She doesn't ever scream, she almost never shows any aggression. She's only 8 months old and hasn't started talking yet, she might never just because she's not super vocal. When she does a wing lift and tilts forward she wants to be picked up or she'll wave a foot at you to be picked up. She loves the hang out in my jacket all day and will take naps with me. Shes great with new people and isnt scared of any noises. Down sides, she doesn't like toys, so doesnt like the color orange, she doesn't like any sort of citrus, doesn't like most vegetables, wastes most of her food, and she likes to wander on the floor. But she is by far the most perfect bird (for me) that I could ever ask for
Thats cause she is 8 months old 😅 im sure she is a sweety! At 1y old they reach puberty and get angsty, then they calm down at 2y old and during nesting season get angsty again.
Quakers are a fun little creature. Mine obviously gets upset when I've been away for a while and I know im playing a dangerous game when kissing mine but I do it to calm her down and when she gives kisses back I know shes calm. When she isnt I just let her sit back in her cage to mellow out.
Great video you are spot on I got my first Quaker parrot because I was sitting outside smoking a cigarette and it landed on my head I thought she was a dude for the first 3 years I had her until she started laying eggs by herself because she was so aggressive. I had her for 7 years until she escaped and I could not get her back because I was at work and I was the only one that she liked. I just went and picked up two little babies last month I've never had two at the same time wish me luck. ✌️🍻
I completely agree with that description of "loving little demons"!!! My quaker Rico is SUCH a troll towards me and even after 7 years he still tricks me. The amount of times I've fallen for his cute act and then suddenly BAM! he's nipping at my arm 🥲 He totally laughs at me too, the little devil! And I definitely know what you mean by growling!! Rico growls a fair bit but it's usually because I had to put him down to do something else so to me it's more like a toddler throwing a tantrum when I hear it 🤣 Truly a menace, but he's adorable and I love him and his feisty nips so much!!! Great video!!! 😊❤
I've had my quaker for about 15 years and have never heard it explained in words. When people ask me about my quaker I just can't explain it. My timneh and my macaw are no problem to explain to other people, but the quaker I just can't put into words even though I know how to avoid strangers getting their feelings hurt.
i’m getting a quaker tomorrow 🤪 i’ve had birds for years but he will be my first parrot and your videos have made me excited for him but also quaker puberty makes me nervous. i can’t wait to work with my new guy but i’ll 100% keep in mind we may be in the honeymoon stage.😂
I love the honeymoon stage analogy ahaha im using that 😂 some quakers have worse puberties than others 😝 I wish you an easy one. If you need help with anything shoot me a message im happy to help ☺️ Wishing the best for you and your new baby tomorrow 🫶🏼
I have a quaker and a conure. What a big difference! I have tried to understand my quaker, but can't. I spend a few minutes a day one on one training, but he hates hands. Plus, if I have the conure on my hand, the Quaker flies at me and bites me. I just take him as he is and never let him on my shoulder anymore.
A few minutes is not enough for training, you need hours with them to bond. Your quaker sounds like he just doesnt trust you, and bringing another bird who he isnt bonded to can post problems. Best to work little a day on taming and bonding and after you gain their trust they can be with you without fear and then you can work with bonding them to your other bird. My channel has videos to help out with all of that ☺️
@@mimisbirdhouse I realize he lost trust somewhere so I just do a bit of work with him daily. The conure was here first and thinks he rules the roost. He chases the Quaker away from his favorite places, including me. I think that has made the Quaker angry and he firebombs my head and tries to RIP out my hair. That has stopped mostly since I started target training and trick training but he still will attack me at times, mostly when I am holding the conure. I keep watching videos of all kinds and try to improve my time with him. I hate we lost our bond somewhere!
@@sharenreyes7324 you can try mine; ua-cam.com/video/TsxVsXIym0g/v-deo.html Youll have to for now divide your time with your conure and quaker and make sure they arnt together or in the same room for now as you recover that trust 🥺
My Quaker will hiss in my ear too, it’s usually as a form of wooing since he usually tries to make his way to my hand shortly after. I just put him in I’m his cage and let him cool down for a bit lol
This is so funny, that u say little devils... bcuz it's true! My quaker is 27 yrs old. Thank God she's old now cuz she has calmed down. She's never been locked in the cage and never will be. She used to attack my son, bite his back and fly away. My son was 18 at the time. She's everything u have described. Thank you for sharing 💕
27!! Thats such a blessing! I love that you never put them locked up. We are the same. Honestly thats how it should be. You must have taken such great care of them ☺️ EDIT: The attacking your son ahaha 😂 such a quaker 😂
My husband recently persuaded me to adopt one - a blue-colored baby, that just started eating on its own - and from the first day home, I knew that this wouldn't be an 'easy' bird. This is my first Quaker so I researched how to approach him/her (no idea if it's a boy or a girl although I think it may be a girl) and I am surprised at how temperamental he/she is! I recognize the 'I'll bite you because it's fun' behavior and when I see it, I am trying distraction but I think I'll need to wait for at least a year to see if this will 'work'. Quiqui already says his/her name and imitates some sounds. It also seems as he/she has a special call just for me when he/she wants to grab my attention (!!). Will 'step up' only when he/she lands somewhere far away from her cage and wants to be transported closer to it and (until now) refuses to accept any scratches. But he/she is very happy to come on my arm when I am wearing my morning fleece robe! He/She actually purrs like a cat. Maybe she was handled with a piece of fleece when she was a baby and he/she feels familiar and comfortable with this material? (But I don't think placing a piece of it in his/her home is a good idea because I wouldn't want her to swallow any fluff).
Thank you for adopting! Quaker’s arnt easy but they are so rewarding! Definitely a bird that will make you laugh, extremely soft, good company and loves those scritchies. Puberty is the difficult time dealing with a teenager quaker parrot but i promise they are so so sweet. I always heard blue ones are more calm than green one’s haha guess green one’s have that hulk energy 😂 yes definitely dont place the fleece inside as swallowing even small pieces can lead to a vet visit. If you have any questions, need help or guidance please feel free to contact me via dm on instagram ☺️
My Sulphur crested cockatoo passed and ended up rescuing a Quaker parrot. He is neurotic for sure LOL. He's settling and and for the most part decent but ya he is hyper and all over the place. I ended up naming him George Costanza because he looks bald with his gray head. He for sure is a little troll. But way less aggressive than my macaw.
I actually think your video is really relevant and my bird doesn't do everything here (bc he's a freak lol) but I have noticed he rubs his beak on his cage. He also likes to attack my poor aunt, my mom and my brother by lifting his wings and reaching out and all that, but he's fine with everyone else. For some reason he is okay with me doing anything to him. I can approach him and scratch him when he's on his cage and literally hold him whenever I want and he doesn't look fazed at all lol.
I got abused one, so its hard but not impossible, i use gloves he doesn't like my hands. Will cuddle my face often very affection bird but also energetic as hell which is why they get rehome a lot. See a lot in shelters, i definitely wont get another
@@mimisbirdhouse no, the thing is that me, dad, and one of my freinds pet her, but she doesn't allow my mum to pet her: when she come to my room, she starts to get aggressive
@@recap62 ohhh I understand. I guess extra work is needed to get your bird to trust your mom. Maybe your mom talk quieter, make slow movements and a good distance from your bird. Let your bird slowly understand your mom isnt a threat?
I’m super new to birds. I went to a bird pet store to get info and see what they were really like. I’ve never even held a bird. I met this really sweet little guy. We were playing and he was nibbling on my. He was only 4 months old. So when he gets older will he get “meaner”. I don’t know a better word for it. Don’t worry not getting any birds. Doing my research first.
This is so accurate like I'll show my quaker to someone and be like "oop he's about to attack" or something and they look at me like "?????" It really is a sixth sense 😂

My quaker will bark and spin in circles when she's going to lay an egg
Thats the most random thing ive heard 😂
100% she hit the nail on the head, especially when she said " loving little deamon." And I my bird does troll around and laugh about it. I'm still love my little green deamon.
I love these gremlins but they troll around so much 😂 Theres bite marks for no reason other than their entertainment
They are lil demons. You can see the mischief in their eyes sometimes.
That's what I call them getting the huffeys
Overstimulation was the cause of my quaker, Jazzy, trying to bite my husband. Unfortunately, Jazzy had a stroke on Feb. 24 and he passed away. I miss him so much
I LOVE all of the information about those little brats called Quaker parrots. I rescued one about three years ago and just love him. I am happy to hear that what he is doing is part of who he is and I would never try to change it. Thank you so much for your great advice and fantastic channel about parrots.
hahaha brats called quaker parrots 😂 im using that 😂 Im happy to hear you love them for them 🥰 glad you like my channel too means a lot 🤗
@@mimisbirdhouse
Took one in 13 years ago and he’s the same from when we first got him, hates when you touch salt shakers…. He’s gotten a hold of mine and family members neck and hands 😂.
OH MY LORD 😂 thats amazing 😂
I just lost my Kiwi of 20 years. Thank you for sharing your videos. It's so comforting hearing their little voices. I love that you share the truth of teenage Quakers. They have such fun, yet very strong personalities.
Im glad this video was of comfort and im so sorry for your loss 🥺 20y is an amazing time and im sure u gave them such a wonderful life 🥺
i'm sorry to hear of your loss. my qp is 20. he is a lot of fun and lot of company to my elderly girlfriend and i. we have our memories and pictures and videos of them. we'll miss them when they are gone.
I have 2 and everything you just said is 100% true. When you know you know
I had a Quaker for 25 years they're definitely unpredicble, but also so fun and cute.
Lol
Thats so cute that he sits while you work 🥺 mine fall asleep on the computer while I work, its so cute 🥺
after watching this i realised i probably got the most chill quaker parrot on earth. mine jus lets me love tf outta it. if it bites its VERY gentle
Witchita is adorable 😂
Always worried my little blue didn't like me completely because of the random bites, this video helps me feel better. I love blue but yes she's a demon 1000%
Ahahaha im glad this video let you know your bird did like you, their just mischievous pranksters 😂
One of my quakers literally makes crosses with his beak on the floor in front of him when mad. It then gives you the looks of "cross this point and i will end you" 😂😂
Ahahahaha 😂 one of my quakers do that too 😂 Its tempting to cross the line 😂
Thank you I learned so much about my bird and it makes so much sense now. 100% relatable I appreciate this video
Im so happy ☺️
I just got one this year and I kinda had an idea of what he means but this has made me learn about rage better this video was amazing ❤
im glad ☺️ congrats on your new baby this year ☺️
lmaoo my quaker parrot(leslie) comes to my ear and hisses at me I dont even know why but its funny because she then flies away its pretty weird.........
Ahahaha I feel this 😂 my sun is so much kinder and easier, meanwhile I struggle with my gremlins
great video!! 💚 Also, just for future reference, “quaking” is a behavior that stems from an instinct that begins in the nestling stage 😊 quaker babies quake when they are hungry, specifically when they’re anticipating a feeding! The reasoning is the same though - excitement! Some babies all but grow out of it. But the large majority (as we well know) do not 😆
in my experience it seems to vary from one individual to another a little bit. Some do it any time they’re in an elevated emotional state, some do it mostly when they’re happy excited, and others do it when they’re being naughty or territorial!
Anyways, just wanted to put that out there for ya! Thank you for your dedication to learning and educating others about our feathered companions. Quakers in particular have a very special place in my ❤
Keep up the greet work! Just subscribed and looking forward to future videos!
All of her videos make me wonder why anybody would own one of these birds? I’m glad I’m doing my research before purchasing
Russian roulette is the best way to describe them, I love it 😂
As a pet sitter with a quaker parrot for the first time, I really appreciate you. And this male parrot is in the puberty zone. I am actually after a couple of weeks and listening to you being able to read the signs. I have a avoided all the bites, but definitely getting better at it! you have really help me. Thank you.
Awww im glad to hear that ☺️
Rescued a Quaker and named him Oscar (Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street).
This is the second time someone has told me a quaker is more difficult than a cockatoo 🥲 😂
The random flip to bite oh man 😂 Ive managed to get mine to learn to be more gentle but from time to time she will just break skin 😒
Glad they’ve made a recovery makes me happy to hear ☺️
@@mimisbirdhouse Yeah, he’s difficult. He was neglected for years which doesn’t make his temper any better. We’re still working on that lol But he’s sweet when he wants to be and I love him for that. Anyway, I hope you keep the videos coming. There’s no such thing as too much knowledge and it’s fun to see other people on their own journeys with their birds 🙂
3 weeks in with my 9 month old Quaker she is a cuddly, mischievous little shithead that seems to really like being with me, i really hope her personality doesn’t change cuz i like it

Quakers have a complete 180 personality change
I just had a quaker 1 year i didn't experimented the most of this..
But this is very good for the new *12 BABY QUAKER PARROTS* im taking care of..
12!?
Otis Flys free

Keep up the GREAT WORK, and I learned that tapping is sign that he's marking his spot, did not know that at all! Appreciate it! Stay strong all!
This means so much 🥺 Also i love the name Mr.Otis
This is my dream but I’m terrified of losing Turkey the turquoise Quaker. It is inspiring. He’s flighted, and a good flyer, but I want him to roam free so much. I’d have been a nervous wreck but thanks for the motivation to continue towards this goal.
barely subbed but i really like your channel hope you grow a bunch 😄
Thank you so much 🥰
You are SOT ON with EVERYTHING! I THANK YOU! Now i understand my Quaker is just a NORMAL Quaker and NOT A RABID POSSESSED DINOSAUR!!!!
Id say a normal quaker is a rabid possessed dinosaur to be honest 🤣🤣
Great video and you hit the nail on the head when explaining their unpredictable, adorable, bratty antics. Described my Quaker to a tee. 😅 This was definitely informative and helpful to me - thank you!!
Ahaha unpredictable but so fun 😂 they love to mess around. Glad to hear it helped ☺️
This is so accurate, the puberty stage is horrible lol he bites my bf significantly more but oh boy do I miss when he was a sweet little baby aha
When they are babies they are angels, and then puberty hits 😂 I totally understand your bf, kiwi ripped my lips apart during puberty
@@mimisbirdhouse my have now 10 mouths . Now I'm afraid of losing my fingers 😂😂😂 with what age they hit the puberty and how long is that?🙈🙈

"Start questioning my life choices" LOL - you nailed it.
Whenever it sounds like they are hissing in your ear without showing any aggressive behavior I learned is them mimicking your breathing
I do the same 😭 if mine get nippy she just gets put on my knees or bed 😂 Love the come here 🥹
This shows me my sister's quaker is the most chill bird ever 😂 Echo rarely hisses or quakes and just wants scritches constantly! She snuggles me for hours and gently preens my face. Shes gonna be 4 in a few months and is just the sweetest girlie
Awwwwww she sounds adorable 🥹🥹🥹
Such a great vid, and so true about them being subtle!
They are sneaky little bugs 😂
My quaker bird name is heaven and she’s so bad
Ahahhaa thats so ironic but I love the name!
The wings and running is hilarious oh my gosh 😂 They are just such chaotic beings but in such a fun and painful way 😂
He just like suddenly doesn’t want no one to touch them like it’s just him that’s all
Buster does the hissing on you when he's loving you.
Interesting 🤔
Very well said 😏 about the moody, cheeky, adorable Quaker Parrots!!! 🦖🦜👍
Hehe we love them regardless 🥰

I live near a big grass oval and my bird will go absolutely OUT of her mind when she sees the man on the ride on lawnmower!
Bahahahahha 😂 sounds like mine too 😂 its more so my sun conure who loses her mind 😂
Quaker parrots are so mean but I think it's kinda cute. Like when my parrot starts sqeeking at me as soon as I go to speak I just tell her ,"Birdy shut yo bitch ass up" in a quit playful tone. Then she kinda starts to chill out a lil bit
Lmao my Quaker whispers shut the fuck up cuz I said it so many times to him
I'm glad I found you. I have a Quaker Parrot Group on Facebook and have been sharing your videos. Thank you very much for your knowledge.
Awww happy to help ☺️!
Quaker needs lotta patience.
100%
Beautiful Quakers! ❤️
100% spot on. You described my Marty to a T. He’s mastered the phrase “be a good boy”
Oh my gosh mine says “be good” after nipping me 😂
The hissing in the ear and asking why?…. That made me laugh because yeah😂😂😂 thats weird!
Cricket sounded amazing. Sorry for your loss 🥺🥺🥺
I spent time with my Quaker and he is 7 months and he did everything in the video 😂
Ahahaha oh quaker parrots 😂
Their home behavior explains a lot of things about places where they're present in feral form after introduction/escape
Very cute though and he likes to make honking noises to wake me up
Thats adorable 😭 I love cockatiels so much 🥺
And yes rehomed quakers may be harder to read due to trauma or feeling of abandonment
@@mimisbirdhouse hes a very cute little bird this quaker, named Buddy! He acts like he wants out but ive only had him for a few days and dont know if he'll just try and eat me if I do let him out lol.
@@mariscion2124 If you do want to let him out make sure the space is safe for him and hold a towel with you incase you need to protect yourself 🥲
Sorry to hear about your quaker 😔
Wishing you luck! You’ll do awesome! All the best ☺️
Lol so I'm not the only one who's quaker parrots screams at them any time I talk lol
Nope you are good 😂
I completely agree with that description of "loving little demons"!!! 😊❤
Right!!! Ahahaha they always approach adorably, bite and laugh 😂 whenever they laugh i cant even be upset its so funny 😂
If you need help with anything shoot me a message im happy to help ☺️ Wishing the best for you and your new baby tomorrow 🫶🏼
my quaker was freaking out at the other quaker noises 💀 he was flying around squeaking and asking what i was doing lma9
Oh no im sorry 😭
My bird loves to troll. She'll nip and then laugh right to my face lmao
Sounds about right 😂
my parrot COPIED my laugh when she comes and tricks me and bites me
AHAHAHAHA I love when they do that 😂 they just mock us on a whole other level 😂
My sister refers to the tapping as "beak bonking."
The only correct term i will use from now on 😂
right now mine is a untam baby. i having to tame him . he does not bite at all now but i very sure fthat change as he gets older
If you look at my channel intro video we have a timestamp for taming :) and yes it may change 😅 that quaker puberty can be scary for some
I attempted to watch this but every time a quaker made a noise, mine had to answer. Every. Single. Time.
AHAHAHAHA im so sorry 😂 everytime i talk mine have to talk over me. Maybe with subtitles 😅?
My parrot name is Sam and he loves this video
@@sharenreyes7324 you can try mine;

Youll have to for now divide your time with your conure and quaker and make sure they arnt together or in the same room for now as you recover that trust 🥺
My Quaker will hiss in my ear too, it’s usually as a form of wooing since he usually tries to make his way to my hand shortly after. I just put him in I’m his cage and let him cool down for a bit lol
Omg so true.. one second he’s saying gimme kiss n wanting pets another second he’s attacking me n making me bleed 😭 He’s a menace but he’s the cutest

Mine changes his pitch of his kiss. His high pitch is excitement and low pitch is surprised(in cage)/love(out of cage).
Thats so cute!!
That’s true bc I own a Quaker parrot and she laughs when she bite someone
Right! They do it for amusement 😂

They are literally a demon but so cute
I used to be nervous of my cockatiel biting me since he’s prone to do, but after having a baby Quaker for a few months , I’m immune to cockatiels 😭
Cockatiel bites are so soft in comparison 🥲
@@mimisbirdhouse and it’s only gonna get worse 😭
I just recently adopted a 6 month old quaker parrot. This video helped me so so much!! 🦜❤
Glad it helped ☺️ if you need help with anything else feel free to reach out ☺️
My Sulphur crested cockatoo passed and ended up rescuing a Quaker parrot. He is neurotic for sure LOL. He's settling and and for the most part decent but ya he is hyper and all over the place. I ended up naming him George Costanza because he looks bald with his gray head. He for sure is a little troll. But way less aggressive than my macaw.
Im sorry to hear about your cockatoo. Thank you for rescuing your quaker, i love the name 😂
Really less aggressive than your macaw!?
never a dull moment when a quaker parrot is in the house.
I have a green quaker my question is why dose my bird growle when taking off or landing he sounds like a pub lol
Just a quaker thing 😝 they growl, they hiss, they communicate like this in the wild to warn their flock of potential dangers ☺️
Buster just bites to bite. He will bite hard if he's mad but otherwise he just bites. Lol .
They just find it funny to bite
@@mimisbirdhouse that they do!
I got abused one, so its hard but not impossible, i use gloves he doesn't like my hands. Will cuddle my face often very affection bird but also energetic as hell which is why they get rehome a lot.
See a lot in shelters, i definitely wont get another
Yes quakers are so rehomes, my second quaker was a rescue and abused
My qauker qauks alot when everytime mum tries to pet her (and overall angy)
Probably doesnt wanna be touched, best to respect it :)
@@mimisbirdhouse ok, ill try that
Nailed it lady…prankster birds
I’m super new to birds. I went to a bird pet store to get info and see what they were really like. I’ve never even held a bird. I met this really sweet little guy. We were playing and he was nibbling on my. He was only 4 months old. So when he gets older will he get “meaner”. I don’t know a better word for it. Don’t worry not getting any birds. Doing my research first.
They are sweet as babies, puberty they will rip your skin apart, then as adults its a mix
This is so accurate like I'll show my quaker to someone and be like "oop he's about to attack" or something and they look at me like "?????" It really is a sixth sense 😂
We just learn to know 😂 its called survival against quakers 😂
I think my parrot likes your voice.
Thats such a compliment 🥺
Trial n error is what it's all about raising quakers! thankfully if ure the one theyre bonded with they dont bite hard but then ull at least know dos n donts with ur baby!
Mine dont bite hard anymore, more like a light munch. My rescue took some time though, now she is gentle :)
@@mimisbirdhouse exactly! thankfully never had the experience of a hard bite, ofc im a new bird owner my pika was a rescue, so mayhaps i just got lucky! ☺️
Well myy quaker parrot use to bite me and she put marks on my face that bled and my mom said it would last forever one my quaker even cut my ear but I got her to stop thanks to these videos and now instead of biting my quaker parrot just laughs at me when I'm upset
