I’m a professional cleaner. I grew up using Pine Sol. I recently started using it in my clients businesses and homes and every single time I keep hearing “Wow… it smells great and has taken the bad smell away!”
Hi there! yes, I have Sal Suds on my viewer suggestion list! I do have a video about Dr Bronner's Soap in the mean time that you might enjoy. Testing Dr Bronner's Castille Soap: How Well Does it Disinfect My House???? ua-cam.com/video/ydUq1yLt6ZI/v-deo.html
I love the smell of Pinesol. On garbage day when I go through the house and put out all new bags in the bathrooms and the kids rooms and my trashmasher, I put two paper towels in the bottom and pour a good splash of pinesol on them and it smells fresh for about 5 days. When it starts to fade a just put a little more 😂
Keep up the videos. Testing with the petri dish is good stuff. One recommendation, and it may not be practical for all surfaces, would be to limit the size of your swabbing area and to demarcate sections with painters tape. A good common household product to try in the toilet bowl would be Clorox bleach. Good shit, 👍
Hi Colin, Thank you so much for the encouragement! I like your idea of taping off areas (when I can) to be swabbed! I will implement that in my next videos. I do have three videos already scheduled to post with petri dishes: testing my washing machine basket clean cycle, disinfecting with vinegar, and disinfecting with Clean Boss. Those will have the old style of swabbing. Clorox bleach in the toilet bowl is a great idea! I might take a few weeks and test out a handful of toilet cleaners to put in one video. Thank you so much for the feedback! Take Care!
Hi there! I will add more Comet to my viewer suggestion list.. so far I have just tested Comet Powder in the Toilet Bowl.. here is the link: COMET: Does it Disinfect My Toilet? VIEWER REQUEST! Testing w/ Sterile Swabs & Petri dishes!! ua-cam.com/video/OwzVfSy6idE/v-deo.html
This was great! I use Pinesol to clean my sink, counters, tub, shower liner and toilet seat. I mop with it also. I dilute it though. It's still strong even when diluted, I'm shocked my husband hasn't found me passed out in the bathroom yet. 😂 I use Soft scrub for the toilet bowl though, I need that bleach action. This was very insightful.
Pinesol is super strong even diluted! Some cleaners are just sooooo strong smelling but clean so well. When I recorded the Clean Boss video, I was so nauseous from the smell, but it really disinfects so well! Another viewer suggested I test out Soft Scrub Gel, so that is on my list of things to test. I am in the middle of editing testing of different toilet bowl cleaners! Stay tuned!!!!
Thank you! When we took care of a puppy, I switched from Pinesol to a Steam mop to clean my floors. I have plans to test out the efficacy of the Steam mop soon!
Great point! I could try to empty the toilet water... but I find that to be a pain and realistically wouldn't want to do that every time I clean my toilet. Thanks for watching!!
That’s why I always find their instructions confusing, use full strength to disinfect except mix it with toilet water to clean the toilet? I add 1/2 cup to the water as instructed but then use a spray bottle with undiluted pine sol and spray the inside of the bowl and rim, brush and let sit for 10 mins. I also put my toilet brush in undiluted pine sol after cleaning the toilet :)
I am not sure if the tank could impact the results. I have done many toilet tests and some cleaners just do better than others. But good thought! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I haven't tested gel cleaners yet, but have tested Odoban spray Testing Odoban to see if it Removes Bacteria from My Home! ua-cam.com/video/iiyCJ8rPflA/v-deo.html
Hi there! I will add it to my viewer request list, I have about 150 requests and doing my best to get through them all! Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
@@FieldOfFocus thank you soooooo much! I actually picked up a bottle of "Breath O Pine" the other night and boy is it strong! Stronger smelling than both pine Sol and pinealen, I saw that it contains isopropol alcohol and real pine oil. I might be switching to this. If you have time to add it to that long list haha! Thank you so much, love that you do this for us!! 💗
One thing to think about is the toilet brush was the difference that may have had an impact on this. In all other surfaces you used the sponge. Thoughts?
I have a playlist for laundry testing, check it out here: ua-cam.com/play/PL6P5xAP9Rj6Jp_mEprHAtUIvXu2KtDM7r.html Thank you for watching and commenting!
I think you need to keep your technique in mind. The Pine-Sol in your toilet was diluted - not full strength. It rinsed with water coming from under the rim from an area that was not ideally cleaned...you used a toilet brush that was previously used so it was not ideal conditions. I think you could possibly experience the same result if you use the same technique in your b/r again with a different cleaner. A great review though...thanks so much.
Thank you for comments! So for the toilet cleaning, I followed the manufacturers guidelines and the brush sits in bleach in between each use. These experiments are not in laboratory conditions, I do my best to show how cleaners work in a real world home example. Thank you for watching and giving your thoughts!
Enjoyed your video. Question-why do people worry about disinfecting the inside of the toilet when as soon as somebody goes to the bathroom it’s infected again. Lol!
When you flush the toilet, there is a spray (that we can't see) of particles that fly into the air and land on bathroom surfaces. So I think most people are wanting to decrease the amount of bacteria that gets sprayed around from a flush. I am more interested in seeing if products that claim to kill 99.9% of bacteria really can do just that. The toilet bowl gives a really good sampling of bacteria and is a great spot to test these product claims. Thanks for watching!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello! I did test Fabuloso "Testing Fabuloso To See If It Disinfects My Home! - Viewer Request!" I don't know Hexol but I will google it! Thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestions!!
thanks, I love the smell of PineSol and wouldn't think it would disinfect that toilet anyway. I just use it for floors etc for cleaning. I enjoy your videos a lot. I think you need something specific for Ecoli for a toilet and even the bathroom sink where hands are washed after using the bathroom. Bleach
I really want to test Tineco products out! Just waiting until I make some more money before justifying purchasing them!!! They look so nice!!! Thanks for watching!
Hi there! So I often don't wear gloves when I am cleaning, I feel that they are cumbersome. And for the handling of petri dishes, my hands are not touching the agar or the inside of the dish in any way. I use sterile swabs to get the sample and only the swab touches the plate. I feel that I if wore gloves each and every time I swabbed it would be a big big waste of money and just not good for the environment. I do wash my hands or use alcohol sanitizer before each swab (I just don't show that to save time). If I started having control spots that were growing bacteria, then I would reevaluate. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for doing this! I’m changing some of the products I use because of your findings.
Thank you for watching!

Can i recommend a video on how well Comet works? Both the old school powder and the Soft Cleaner in the white bottle? Thanks

I use old school comet in the toilet bowl. I also use chlorine bleach.

I wonder if there’s any difference now with the new 2x formula
Not sure I haven't tested that yet!
Can you test Odoban?

solid video, been wondering about the floor cleaning strength esp w my pup running around. the results here are promising!

If pine sol has to be undiluted to disinfect, I guess it makes sense that you can't Disinfect the inside of the toilet

Right.. it doesn't make much sense. It needs to be full strength to really disinfect.
And also she didn't apply with sponge like other places.
@@vsoraya well cleaning a toilet bowl with a sponge isn’t what I normally do…
8:55 starts coming back up for ya😅 note to self, caution on using it full strength thanks!🥰🙏🏾

Could the poor showing in the toilet have to do with not having cleaned the tank?

Hi a new subscriber love your effort and videos . Can you please tell us what is the best Disinfectant cleaner for the bathrooms ?
It is really hard for me to choose just one!! It really depends on the type of product you are looking for, more natural based, spray, wipes.. etc..
im curious how you disinfect and wash your laundry, looking forward to it and will have to follow for more!
