I agree with your last statement regarding a change in how we engage digitally. Our church is tiny and only this last year started to put our videos on UA-cam. Streaming was still way in the future for us. This pandemic situation changed all that. We started streaming six weeks ago to FB via a cell phone and when my ATEM mini pro arrived we started streaming live to UA-cam. We are now two sessions into it. It is like drinking from a fire hose learning to stream on the fly. What we have noticed is our attendance has actually increased. Great video! I have two ideas that might help some people: 1) For lyrics overlays, I setup my lyrics in my presentation software, and set the background to solid green. I then window capture the live output (add source, window capture). I then add the Chroma Key filter on that source (right click the source, filters, + sign, Chroma key). This allows me to run my presentation software exactly how I usually would, or via hotkeys or something, and overlay it on my stream. Much easier than recreating slides all over again! If needed, one could even just use it to capture those individual slides in order to do your suggested method. 2) Audio sync, I usually just record the clap, pull it into my video editing software and count the frames between the visual and audio clap. From there it is some simple maths to figure out how many ms delay to put. Also, there is a video sync filter, called 'async' for in case anyone might need that. Add it the same as you add the Color Correction filter. Not highly recommended for multicam setups, as it can cause jitters when transitioning between scenes in my experience. Good luck everyone! We're all in this together!
Yes i recommend the window capture of powerpoint because you can skip or go back in case there is a mistake in lyrics sequence. Make sure to hide the window capture if you need to skip or do something with your powerpoint
Great Video! Very helpful! We’ve been streaming for about 9 months now so I’m still pretty ‘Green’ as far as my knowledge of OBS goes. You have given me Several new ideas on how to improve our services. Your information is clear and concise (For the most part). This is a Really Big Deal to those of us who are still getting our feet wet! Can’t thank you enough for your help!!!
I just completed the second week of live streams at my church, your videos put me on to OBS and I’m still working on opportunities to improve the quality. I appreciate the content.
Dude!!!!!! Thanks so much for this! The OBS for iOS was the answer to my prayer literally. On a self-promoting note, I was doing most of what you showed with scenes and cameras. I did my lyrics a bit differently. Using Proclaim -you start Proclaim and Go OnAir. Now the lyrics are a window source you can capture. Sometimes I show lyrics full screen and other times I show lyrics underneath a smaller camera space so I have multiple scenes that you can double click to show. Anyway so awesome! Thank you. (if anyone else reads this the Proclaim method only works on PC without some manupulating) Mac requires some extra steps which I don't need since I have PC's in the "studio".
Another great video!! Wanted to share an idea I came up with, using PowerPoint to create your over overlay images. Yes you are correct that PowerPoint can not create transparent images, but what you can do is set the background to the standard green screen color (#00b140) and then use a chromakey filter it out. Most everyone has PowerPoint, not everyone knows how to create transport images. Also, changing your images is easy when the filter is in place. Hope it helps.
We have a 2 PC setup at church. 1 PC running CCLI's WorshipExtreme (you can use Media Shout, ProPresenter, or whatever other dual-display capable program you want), passing HDMI out into an AverMedia Live Gamer Mini that then connects via USB into our 2nd PC running OBS. We then have a separate camera (Panasonic HC-V770) running into an Elgato Cam Link into the 2nd PC as well. We add both as video capture inputs into OBS, and then have 2 scenes: 1 with just the stream from the 1st PC, and another with the stream from the camera. In that 2nd scene, I add in the input from the 1st PC in a smaller box in the lower-right hand section of the window, so that way it appears similar to a PiP setup. Still working some of the kinks out...for some reason the video periodically locks up from the Elgato Cam Link, so I have to re-choose the device from the Properties window in OBS for that input to get it working again.
You can still use ProPresenter with your slides going to OBS, you can use SyphonClient inside OBS. and on Propresenter Enable Syphon. I hope this will help. God bless
Instead of a physical stream deck you can use an app called Touch Portal. The basic one is free but for 12 bucks you can make unlimited pages with unlimited buttons. I’m using it with OBS and it’s amazing
There is a way to dual stream to two places (UA-cam & Facebook) for free from OBS. It is more taxing on your computer but it works. You're also limited to two places.
"@@rameshwhorrie There are many ways to skin a polecat..." One way that won't be (more) taxing on your computer, is shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/VHUPGfgkIgw/v-deo.html (I have no affiliation with them, I just found it and realized that it could be useful) and if you have the bandwidth and server space for even a VM, you could also spin up your own local ant media server (which I'm going to try out for a local church this weekend) ua-cam.com/video/Hf8vzteVa04/v-deo.html ( also don't have any affiliation with them, but I was searching for answers to the same questions and these are the answers I've found) In full disclosure, I am a technician with several decades of experience with Linux and IT support in general, so whether or not anyone else can do this is strictly YMMV...
There is actually a way to get ProPresenter slides directly into OBS using NDI without having to create individual slides for every line. You can even do this in a live scenario where are your normal slides show to the congregation and then you send a separate lower Thirds with transparent background to your streaming computer via NDI. There are some tutorial videos on how to do this.
For the Lyrics you can use Pro presenter or even other free programs, all i do is either make another screen with my phone/tablet or the Lyric program i use has a preview function which has a separate preview window, I make the background of the lyrics Green (0,255,0), then in OBS use the window capture mode then select the preview window as the source, then to get rid of the green I use the chroma key filter and select key color type to green. simple, you are then able to switch between verses, chorus, etc much easier and it saves a whole lot of time.
Don't forget on Windows 10 you have more than one desktop too so if you run out of space, open a new desktop and run other programs there, but be sure to set Capture Cursor radio box to off in the source properties of OBS as the cursor moves on the other desktop too, maybe this could be disabled sometime soon in windows.
Thank you so much for every tip! Lots of questions answered ... castr is another multi streaming service and only costs $9.99 / month for streaming to 2 different places like Facebook and UA-cam at same time
To project Bible verses or hymns on a screen, or via OBS, I use VideoPsalm. It's free, and it comes with a multitude of Bible versions, in addition to several songbooks. Easy to use, and can be projected as a source or scene in OBS.
Just so you know ProPresenter 7 now support NDI protocol that allow you to either via your network or WiFi to transmit your lyrics and presentation slides to OBS. You just need to install a free NDI utility on OBS. You can also use your smart phone with a free NDI utility to act as an additional camera (source) in OBS.
Also, there is an app called EpocCam that lets you use your smartphone as a web cam. This would let you set the iPhone feed as a source in a scene as a primary or secondary camera. And EpocCam works over wifi or usb.
If you have Easyworship 6 or 7, you can capture the output from Easyworship in OBS. You can output to NDI instead of a monitor or projector, and as a bonus if you leave the background blank, it will be transparent in OBS, and you can overlay Bible verses and lyrics over other sources. This also give you the ability to skip slides. You will need to install the OBS NDI plugin. If you have Easyworship 6, you will need to update Air Send to NDI. Google Processing.AirSend.x86.dll or search for NewTek NDI AirSend Updater.exe. You'll need to shut down Easyworship 6 completely before running the updater (including in the task bar). You can run Easy worship on the same PC as OB or even a different PC (as long as they are on the same network). The main drawback is that EasyWorhip can only output to a projector/monitor or NDI, but not both at the same time. Another bonus is that the Black screen option in Easyworhip makes the output completely transparent, so you can turn it on and off without changing scenes in OBS.
If you have a second computer you can use the the OBS NDI Plugin that will allow you to bring in the screens from the presenter software like ProPresenter, Easywhorship, or Quelea on the other machine as a source. Make sure both computers are on the same network.
@@matthewsteward1965 Would this work to have my pastor or a speaker contribute live from their home? I'd like to figure out how to produce the stream from one location while the actual participants are at different locations. Like what Micah asked about above. "Micah 4 days ago With a minimum number of people working on the live stream church service, some of us have to be in more than one place at once. Is there a device or even a phone app that would allow me to remotely monitor video, audio, and control scenes and slides?"
A quick tip for anyone with audio video sync issues. Your brain is much better at dealing with audio that is later than video than video that is after the audio. So if you are having trouble dialing it in error on the side of the video being ahead. For anyone wondering why this is it has to do with the speed of light being much greater than sound thus in our daily lives we are used to having light reach our eyes followed by the sound that matches that light.
THIS WAS VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO. But in virtual cam feature you can only send the video signal from OBS to other locations but the audio signal is not sent through the virtual cam. Please find the solution for it and make a video for it. Thank you.
We are running our video through EasyWorship and then streaming the main display stream through Xsplit Broadcaster. Xsplit has a nicer interface than OBS. It will do simulcast without paying for an extra service.
"Hello, First of all thank you for the quality of your presentation video. My question is for a small business launching live video streaming business what video equipment and sound advise me not too expensive? The idea will be to film in multicams either outdoors (animations) or indoors (conferences, meetings ...). Thank you in advance for your return ..."
If you're using ProPresenter, Don't make a new slide with transparent background for lower thirds... that's too much for most people, and if you're not paying attention, you can lower the quality of your stream in the process. Instead, Create an NDI source for ProPresenter. You can link the NDI source from ProPresenter to the streaming computer and whomever is running the ProPresenter, when they change slides it will automatically change the slides on OBS. It's very low latency and has a much more professional look to it!
I just came across your page today. I like the way you do explain the steps. Quick question the way you did the repeat with the lyrics can it be done with images on going back and forth with it? Thanks and I'm now a subs and I did hit that like button.
what i used for Integration Propresnter or Songbeamer into OBS : if you can use a Second Monitor you could present to that and then capture it with a Displaycapture. if you just want the text without any background you then add a Lumakey to the OBS and the black Part will be deleted and can be replaced with your videofeed

Honestly we found it was easier to just run slides through our normal software onto the projector and capture that monitor in OBS. Also that way when these lockdowns are lifted we can run our in service slides and continue livestreaming at the same time.
This is my new favorite channel. I am totally your target audience right now. We are trying our first live stream tonight for our Good Friday Service. Thank you so much for the great information. God bless.
@Blackbar I have a question and a suggestion. Q: how can you setup obs to stream if you only have 3Mbps dsl over wifi? Suggestion: VideoPsalm can show the verses /songs with your camera footage in the background instead of slides. (Just an option I've gotten working but can't stream yet but can record with OBS )
thanks for the explanation. I must get a mini recording with the thunderbolt output. I have an input on the Mac book, so I guess I'll need to get a extra cabel to connect with thee mac book. greetings from the Netherlands
loved the tips, especially the iOS OBS camera!! great back-up plan for church if capture device goes wierd, or for other angles. could you compare Restream IO to others like Castr, or sermon.net like our church uses now? thanks... in this all together!
Great video. My problem is i'm trying to do all this in Linux Pop!Os (Ubuntu derivative)... I like the IOS camera option...but sadly not an option for Linux users. I may have to consider setting up a VM to run Windows 10 in it, but first would have to update my RAM. For now, I'll settle with an iPhone shoot... i may be able to get my hands on an hdmi capture device (assuming it'll work with Linux) and go from there. My main challenge though is audio. specifically hooking into their PA system and wireless TOA receiver. All knew to me.. XLR outputs, TRRS etc... and up until a couple of weeks ago, i had never heard of OBS. Liking the software so far... but havent actually done anything "production" yet with it. Hopefully i'll get something out soon.
Yes, but you’ll need a capture device like an ATEM mini or for single camera search for HDMI video capture card on amazon - they run for about $40 and your DSLR will be recognized as a webcam.
How can I add our parish sound system to our stream and get good sound....I am using an elgato HD60S to capture....been plugging sound into the video cam and computer using a splitter....voice is fine; music and singing is horrid....help, please?

If you have Easyworship 6 or 7, you can capture the output from Easyworship in OBS. You can output to NDI instead of a monitor or projector, and as a bonus if you leave the background blank, it will be transparent in OBS, and you can overlay Bible verses and lyrics over other sources. This also give you the ability to skip slides. You will need to install the OBS NDI plugin. If you have Easyworship 6, you will need to update Air Send to NDI.
Awesome tips! For the hymn lower thirds you could try using OBS with OpenLP.
Thanks brother for the superb explanation.
FWIW, Proclaim plays nicely with OBS and helps for lyrics overlays, super polished onscreen Scripture passages with animations.
Proclaim is the program that I can incorporate into OBS? Where do I get it? How much?
If you have a second computer you can use the the OBS NDI Plugin that will allow you to bring in the screens from the presenter software like ProPresenter, Easywhorship, or Quelea on the other machine as a source. Make sure both computers are on the same network.
They also make an NDI HX CAMERA app that lets your phone camera broadcast across the network and you just have to add it as an NDI source in OBS.

2:06 - Better to use Easyworship or Powerpoint, set the text background to green, add window capture in obs, filter it with chroma key.
You get right to the points, and convey them well, thank you!!!!
Thank you for taking your time and giving us those advices, appreciate!
Awesome! A few little gems that I can now use!
Thank you for this, it was insightful and helpful.
Amazing video dude. so helpful
I just came across your page today. I like the way you do explain the steps. Quick question the way you did the repeat with the lyrics can it be done with images on going back and forth with it? Thanks and I'm now a subs and I did hit that like button.
Apocam and clean camera app are just fine and free
Muchas gracias por su trabajo. Muito brigado por su trabalho. Ty for your work.
Thank you for sharing, God bless you more!
what i used for Integration Propresnter or Songbeamer into OBS : if you can use a Second Monitor you could present to that and then capture it with a Displaycapture. if you just want the text without any background you then add a Lumakey to the OBS and the black Part will be deleted and can be replaced with your videofeed
wow thank you so much for this tips.i am helping my pastor to get his sermon on line via fb live. i want to have a good video and audio quality using just his i phone and a rode micro. you help me a lot. keep on giving us tips. God bless you.
Honestly we found it was easier to just run slides through our normal software onto the projector and capture that monitor in OBS. Also that way when these lockdowns are lifted we can run our in service slides and continue livestreaming at the same time.
Hi. Thanks for this straight forward video. Please what the corresponding solution for android phone as regard to "Camera for OBS"
Thanks
This is my new favorite channel. I am totally your target audience right now. We are trying our first live stream tonight for our Good Friday Service. Thank you so much for the great information. God bless.
nice, work. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much. Your info are very useful.
Great tips! Thanks.
Excellent video! I have a question, do you prefer to use OBS for chroma key, or the Atem Mini for such effect? And why?
Great video tips, please tell me how to put pastor name while preaching after song lyrics
@Blackbar I have a question and a suggestion.
Q: how can you setup obs to stream if you only have 3Mbps dsl over wifi?
Suggestion: VideoPsalm can show the verses /songs with your camera footage in the background instead of slides. (Just an option I've gotten working but can't stream yet but can record with OBS )
Very nice tutorial I've been using obs for few months and I got a lot out of it.
Thank you and God bless
thanks for the explanation. I must get a mini recording with the thunderbolt output. I have an input on the Mac book, so I guess I'll need to get a extra cabel to connect with thee mac book. greetings from the Netherlands
Thank you so much Bro! This is so much helpful
loved the tips, especially the iOS OBS camera!! great back-up plan for church if capture device goes wierd, or for other angles. could you compare Restream IO to others like Castr, or sermon.net like our church uses now? thanks... in this all together!
Kerry Anderson We just signed up for Restream and love it so far.
Great content, big help! Thank you
Great video.
Great info and presentation.
Loved the video, Ed
Awesome video. Thank you!!!!
Brilliant !
Cool Stuff. Thank you very much. God bless you. Greetings from Germany
Thank you 🙏
Very good overview. Thank you! Can you use that app for OBS in Windows with a Canon mirrorless camera?
Yes, but you’ll need a capture device like an ATEM mini or for single camera search for HDMI video capture card on amazon - they run for about $40 and your DSLR will be recognized as a webcam.
A big thank you.
Can you use an iPad with the Camera for OBS app? If so, how do you set that up or do you have a link of a video on how to do this?
Thanks! Jesus bless you
Great video would obs allow me to use my rode wireless go connected to my iPhone?
Good Tip
thanks very helpful, God bless
How can I add our parish sound system to our stream and get good sound....I am using an elgato HD60S to capture....been plugging sound into the video cam and computer using a splitter....voice is fine; music and singing is horrid....help, please?
Very helpful. Thank you!
Hi Caleb, i have a question. How do you capture the screen zoom with this quality? What software are you using in this video? Tks.

How would you connect your audio mixer for the band and get that to the OBS stream
With a minimum number of people working on the live stream church service, some of us have to be in more than one place at once. Is there a device or even a phone app that would allow me to remotely monitor video, audio, and control scenes and slides?
Thank you, Caleb! Amazing content, as always.
Very helpful video
