Turkoman, Nakota, and Fox trotter. They are all good, but can we all agree the donkey is the best ride in the game?
Saddled donkeys are adorable af.
They are fast af
And they need to give us the unicorn too 😂😂
Best is the "zebra"
Nakota is kinda meh. His stats aren't any higher than a standardbred, so you might as well just get the Buckskin horse, which is the MOST beautiful horse in the game.
Keep in mind, the Turk doesn't like to stand still. Not a scared issue but more of an impatient issue. If you're moving and shooting, they're more stable than if were to do the same on a FoxTrotter. On top of this, riding and gunning done right is a very quick way to dispatch groups with little effort. With the Turk having a LOT more health and durability, this strategy marries well with the breed.
Yea indeed, Turkomans are amazing!
Stats are way overated. Most of the horses in the game are great. Just find one you feel most connected to, or just role play what your version of Arthur in that play-through would want, it makes the game experience better.
Yeah, I agree! In my first play-through I got highly attached by a female black Kentucky Saddler I caught in the wild (it was the first horse I've ever tamed) and even though the stats weren't the best, I couldn't get rid of her. I thought Arthur and her made a great team so I made it to the end of the game with her. I have zero regrets. Even though I love the Turkomans and Fox Trotters, I don't mind stats at all. Use whatever horse you feel suits you best ;)
My favorite horse would have to be the Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood :) I have a female one
@@Soundtracks92 They are brilliant horses!
Yes! My favorite right now is American Paint Tobiano. Looks like Hildalgo and just hit a cord with me seeing him with Arthur. My American Standerdbred is my second favorite. Won many races with that one. My first play though I feel in love with a mustang I caught. So many great horses in this game.
@@HorsesandCourage The Overo Paint looks more like Hidalgo, but they're all goreous. Paints are my favorite breed overall in game. My Grey Overo, Tyee, is mah boah.
You got to BOND with the horses and then do another set of tests. But this was pretty cool.
Stamina is irrelevant, you can refill a tiny bit every 20 seconds or so pressing l3 wicho is more than enough to have infinite stamina.
Bravery and health are the most important stats
Well if that extra bit of health actually matters to you, you don’t deserve that horse after bringing it so close to death. And all of my MFT are super brave (I trample gators with one of her and she didn’t buck when we weren’t level one bonding and the Roanoke cougars started chasing us) and are the fastest horses in the game, faster than Turks and Arabians. Also the Silver Dapple Pinto is the most beautiful horse in the game (along with Buell), and is free and you can get it in chapter 2. My dark bay Turk is worse than my Arabians with regards to bravery, soooo....
@@isabelg4269 Bravery or calmness?
Because turk will seem more agitated, even while sprinting. That's because they are hot-blooded (War/Race), not because of lack of bravery. In gunfights, turk is a tank bar none.
As for predator, honestly they are all the same in my experience at level 4 bonding. And i've tried shire, turkoman, mustang, andalusian, thoroughbred, standardbred, halfbred, arabian, Buell. However shire does "seem" like the bravest, but I think that's because they whine less (cold blooded draft horse) and control stiffest (make them more determined to stay the course and trample alligators). In terms of bucking off, all of them will buck me off if I'm being an idiot.
Admittedly I haven't tried MFT, because I find MFT too beautiful for cowboy gunslinger (if there's such a thing). I find the only horse that has the most stat and still looked "rugged" for gunslinging is the dark bay turk.
@sololoquy I find that all of the war horses share this trait. I have tested dozens of breeds against snakes, wolves, bears and gators without calming. I push them to stay with the animal as closely as possible and even chase them. All of the war horses have the same general attitude and only buck if I push it really far AND the other animal tries to attack. But they always wait WAY longer than any other breed and give you ample time and then some to either neutralize the threat or run. They never buck at the start of confrontation like other horses.
I have had someone show me the code and try to say there's no difference between the horses reactions other than the threat itself and the use of the calming mechanism. But they must have missed something because I've tried it so many times with many breeds from each category with the exact same predators, in the exact same conditions, with no calming usage, pushing them to stay as close as possible for as long as possible. I have even tried it with other horses I was fully bonded to VS war horses with level one bonding. The most significant difference in reaction is by far, the war horses, even when we've barely bonded, and they are consistently like this, every single time I test them. Ive had people tell me that they had great experiences in bad situations with other breeds but my tests were done with the exact same predators, in the exact same spot, as exactly replicated as possible and every time the war horses, even with less bonding, were exceptionally more stable than the other breed by far, every single time. The difference is huge. Definitely enjoy whatever horse you like. But I have tested it pretty extensively and it seems the war horses are the most brave/dependable in dangerous situations.
What do I press on PC ?
@@chirayatabasuLetter g (calm down horsey) it gives back some stamina with a short cooldown so you can spam it while sprinting
Dark Bay Turkoman is my favorite horse in the game. Paired with the panther saddle, can't get a better combination!
thank you for this priceless content, im definitely subbed. Cinematic auto-pilot or whatever it is called, is only useful with the turk based on my own experience. specially in this game, the frustrating moment when attacked by a pack of wolves and the latest save is a while ago.
My Trotter likes to run into things and is always angry, but little Shrek the Third never lets me down. (Except for that one time when he threw me onto a panther in the middle of a race.)
The Missouri has a weird face and very stubby (being a work horse). Turkoman has the better looks, muscular and tall. Stats are the same when you get them to level4 and stamina is irrelevant when you can regain it by pressing L3. Btw any horse will buck you off when you stop during wolf/gator attack, but if you keep running even the Arabian is ok.
Turkoman looks like a shit
I think the trotter looks better. I prefer a broader face and legs on a horse. Turkoman looks more lanky and thinned out but they're both beauties. I have both if them.
@@saltycat662 which colour do you prefer in both breed
im 3 years late but your take is fuckcing shit. fox trotter looks much better
Both Good horses. Im gunna get the dark bay Turkoman and name him Rocky. I also have a rose grey Arabian who is named Marengo (Name of Napoleon's horse). But good video, love to check out the other horses from your vids.
I love how I’ve been looking for moose for the trapper ages now, and then soon as you don’t look for one there is a bull standing right there at 11:17 😂😂 good video though man, silver dapple is my fav horse using it in my 100% playthrough😁 earned a sub👍
Hahahah yea got lucky there, Thank you soo much!!
Dude they’re so damn rare it’s ridiculous
@@ethanplatas hhahaha try going to the location it's the same as in the glitch video, Good Luck
Ethan Platas I know right. I’ve been putting down bait and everything but nothing. I just need 3 pelts for the trapper and when a random one spawns it’s not 3 star 😂 I can’t get a moose but I can get a frickin Kentucky Sadler 😂😂🔫
@@lucozadi6494 Good Luck!!
Excellent comparison nubis, good vid as usual!! Keep up the good work. My vote goes to the foxtrotter. Turks are good too but they're so whiny (I think its the race half of them), i cant put up with it. Any decent gallop or hill and they wont stop snorting, screaming, farting, etc. You spend more time trying to calm them down, than focusing on the game. Foxtrotter is much quieter. Although not as fast, Hungarians are also pretty quiet, even when they're pushed. Particularly like the piebald.
Thanks!
I am amazed my Turkoman knows to come to me when I have a pelt! I dont have to whistle for him. I like trying other horses but Turk is my pick.
Nice!!
It's programmed to with large fish
Mine does it too
My Turkoman stomped on a crocodiles head and ran off with me on it lol
Wait only turkomans do that?
The best horse is Beull. He does spook easier than the two mentioned in op, but he's best looking, big and fast like the thoroughbreds, and can take much more damage than the thoroughbred. When bonding is at 4, he's by far the best to have. Just my opinion.
Nope.
Booooo😂
@Blue civic si Used to have one. They're amazing. Plus they're from my country so all good
Sorry I can’t have no bitch ass horses. It’s turkoman or nothing for me, I need a damn war horse. Fearless, with decent stats and I’m happy.
@@LegendInThaMakin perlino andalusian would eat a turkoman up for breakfast
I used a male Missouri Fox Trotter as Arthur through most of the game, and it's an excellent horse.
I'm still playing, currently right before the final chapter before the Epilogue.
Recently, I captured a Gray Mustang, also a Male, and while I haven't achieved full bonding with it yet, so far I like the way it handles.
The mustangs handle nice, I just prefer the Turk, just because of the speed and acceleration difference
I always find a female Fox Trotter. It's still a real nice horse.
Smt I got a female fox trotter and bro she scared of everything that horse Is piss me off I ready to sell it my black Arabian wasn't scared how this female horse is🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Finally somebody took into account predators. Bravo and well done! I have seen a lot of reviews that neglect to mention this point and I find it most frustrating. I got suckered in when the game was brand new and got the Missouri Fox Trotter and boy was I ever so disappointed with how the horse acted with predators. You have captured this point so well in your video. I got the Turkoman next and never looked back. A great horse that works well for all my needs.
Thanks!! Yea i am a big fan of Turkoman as well its an amazing breed
I agree, I have the Turkoman as well. There beautiful, strong, confident, and brave. I regret ever taming the white coat Arabian.
Big E thats odd, my fox trotter is the most calm around predators. The Arabians are terrible. Haven’t fully bonded with a Turkmon yet
@@johnkovacs5972 Turks are amazing, the foxtrotter is also good, but as far as predators go, the only way to beat a Turk is with a straight up war horse, foxtrotters are good in a gunfight, but not really against predators, bond with a Turk and you'll see the difference
@@dakotathoms8404 No, i have turks with lv 4 bond, and still got fall from the horse, turks left me on damn aligator
The speed test was a negligible difference in favor of the Trotter. The real question is do you value being able to ride your horse to death for no apparent reason a little bit farther without soothing or using tonics (something that's never been needed in my gameplay) or the ability to not get bucked off in a dangerous situation (which I find to be the MOST important trait among the horses. So for me, Turkoman it is.
But just a side note, I find that all of the war horses share this trait. I have tested dozens of breeds against snakes, wolves, bears and gators without calming. I push them to stay with the animal as closely as possible and even chase them. All of the war horses have the same general attitude and only buck if I push it really far AND the other animal tries to attack. I've tested this pretty extensively and if dependability in bad situations is your priority, get a war horse.
I owned the Missouri Fox Trotter before he was hit by a train( my backup horse was also killed) so I went to the stable and decided to by the gold turkoman. Probably the best thing to happen to me in RDR2. I was fricken attached to that horse before he died in the end of the game. He never bucked me and was great around gators. Also, when I was in a gunfight he shielded me(might’ve been stuck but still) he was so amazing though I love both breeds.
Lill-fleur I would like to know how your horse got hit, my story is that I stop to play poker and I apparently forgot to hitch him up and through the window I see my horse walking up the tracks and gets hit by a train
SaltyToenails91 ‘ I had just finished racing one of those NPC’s and I guess it got to my head. There was a nearby train and I decided I would try to race it. I had actually gotten in front of the train when I decided to turn in front of it....I wasn’t far enough in front of the train so when I crossed my horse got hit. Sadly so did my temporary horse a Nakota.
Lill-fleur OOF
@@saltytoenails9146 that's hilarious
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for a well done, and very worth while video. The Missouri Fox Trotter did seem to win the comparison by a small margin. However, I really do prefer the looks of the Turkoman as he is taller and a little leaner. I hope everyone appreciates what a great job Rockstar Games has done with all the horses in this game!
These comments are confusing me I have a fox trotter at level 4 bonding as John on my 5th play through but I've never had a turkoman so I'm gonna buy one and use both
do you think you could do an Ardennes vs Dutch Warmblood?
Great stuff it’s like top gear for horses
Hahaha Thanks!
Fantastic video, probably your best so far! Great way to objectively compare breeds. I think bravery goes up with bonding level, but you had them both at Lvl 1 right? Also out of curiosity, were you pressing the button to calm them down when you were testing stableness?
One suggestion I have would be to expand the last test a bit, not just with wolves but with alligators because they're pretty easy to test with. Cougars would be great but they are much harder to find in the same place and under the same circumstances. Also it would be amazing if you could put them face to face just to compare breed sizes.
Other breed/horse 'battles' I'd like to see:
- American Standardbred (Black or Buckskin) vs Thoroughbred (Blood Bay or Dapple Grey);
- American Standardbred (Black or Buckskin) vs Nokota (Blue Roan or White Roan);
- Nokota (Reverse Dapple Roan) vs Thoroughbred (Brindle);
- Nokota (Reverse Dapple Roan) vs Arabian (White);
- Andalusian (Dark Bay) vs Mustang (Grullo Dun or Wild Bay);
- Mustang (Grullo Dun or Wild Bay) vs Appaloosa (Blanket or Leopard Blanket);
- Hungarian Halfbred (Dapple Dark Grey) vs Dutch Warmblood (Seal Brown or Sooty Buckskin);
- Hungarian Halfbred (Dapple Dark Grey) vs Ardennes (Bay Roan);
- Shire (Light Grey or Dark Bay) vs Hungarian Halfbred (Flaxen Chestnut or Piebald Tobiano);
- Ardennes (Strawberry Roan) vs Dutch Warmblood (Chocolate Roan);
- Appaloosa (Blanket or Leopard Blanket) vs American Paint (Overo, Tobiano or Splashed White);
- Appaloosa (Leopard) VS American Paint (Grey Overo);
- Kentucky Sadler (Black, Chestnut Pinto, Grey or Silver Bay) vs Tennessee Walker (Black Rabicano, Chestnut, Dapple Bay or Red Roan);
- Arabian (Black) vs Turkoman (Gold).
These are just some ideas anyway, thanks for another awesome video!
Thanks! And yes going to do more animals for the bravery! And yes lvl 1 and also more horses coming
Good video to do.
Great content dude
Thanks!!
Overall pretty cool, like I said, pretty simple overall, I think it’s pretty cool overall.
Im pretty sure that they behave different with diferrent bonding levels, I have my silver dapple pinto at lvl 4 and when I shoot right next to him he does not even move or well he does move but I dont have to calm him down and the other day a wolf got really close to me and he didnt buck me off, maybe I needed to be more time next to it but I didnt allow it
Yea bonding definitely helps but i did it from lvl 1 because that's the starter level and you have to play some time to get to lvl 4
I was looking for this video, I have enough cash for one of these horses but I didn’t know which was more worth it
Maybe horse temperaments have changed with updates, but I’ve found the Fox Trotter to be much better around predators than the Turkoman. I’m using a Silver Dapple Pinto right now, and he stands his ground against wolves and cougars fantastically whereas my Turkoman will buck me off even as we’re running away from a pack of wolves.
Hungarian VS Dutch. That would be a good match. They're the most similar horses both in build and stats, i think.
It looks Cooler in my opinion
Dutch say we need more MONEY 💰
@@jarrah5268 which one lol?
@@spikey288 i forgot that was a year ago lol
Dutch warmblood all the way
I've just bought the Fox Trotter and am already a fan. Had a chestnut Arabian beforehand who was fiesty and fun but a little sketchy around predators (although was cool when it came to dealing with bandits). Although not fully bonded with the Fox Trotter yet I know he's a good 'un because he's better than me at ranching deer! I'm going to have to up my game. I'll probably get the Turkoman later on though as a battle horse.
Nice video man!
Just curious on both running tests, did you use the same saddle???
Thanks! And yes same saddle
I don’t care about the speed or health or stamina. I want the bravest horse that will never ever get spooked.
I going to choose the missouri fox trotter over the turkoman but I also like the turkoman as well. Both horses is good. I want to see all horses are compared with this test, but I like to see the thoroughbred horse against the arabian horse. Btw it is a good video 👍👍
Thanks!
I loved the Missouri Fox Trotter in the Epilogue. I never really did the Turkoman.
But now that I am doing a new playthrough dishonorably, I think my favorites boil down to the Raven Black Shire, Grullo Dun Mustang, Leopard Appaloosa, and Buell.
My Shire, The Undertaker, is a tank. I once trampled wolves with him. Same with my Mustang, Freedom Wing. I trampled a cougar once with her. They are both really brave. A bit on the slow side, but their stamina makes up for it. I could run all the way across the map from Annesburg to Strawberry without having to slow down once.
My Appaloosa, Spotted Hope, I haven't really tried to face predators with her. But she is great when I need a bit extra speed and still have the high stamina.
Buell, is a given. He is really fast but I haven't yet faced him off with predators. But he isn't really spooked by gunfire. I have yet to reach full bonding with him, so I'll try then.
Yea they are all really amazing, i like Buell alot.
@@NubIsOn Buell is awesome. I made it all the way to Chapter 6 just to get him. I love his coat.
@@desirosethorne4429 yea indeed looks soo cool
The Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood is actually a very good horse maxed out to 4 bonding! Its the biggest compared to the others except the Shire, can run forever, decent speed, huge health, huge stamina & never gets super spooked around attacking animals!
The only thing I would mention is this - Was this test done with both horses at the which bonding level? Were they both with level one bonding or were they both at max bonding? So these horses have the say capabilities in each bonding level?
If there are online heists sometime in the future, the turkoman might be a little bit more useful due to its larger health pool.
Yes indeed
And they never came
Thanks really I know how time you need for make this video
Thanks!!
I have both online and they are about the same after 4 bonding - the Foxtrotter is just a bit better for speed and long travels and the Turkoman just a little bit better for gunfights and falls, but is just a tiny difference, both are not very scared and are tall and that is cool, Arabians seam like poneys
Yea indeed both really good! Yea the arabian is to small
Great video, could you do the same with the heavy breeds?
Yes going to to them probably with every breed 😁
@@NubIsOn awesome! Can't wait to see how the heavys perform, I know they aren't everyone's favourite but sitting on a horse tank has been very helpful at times 😂
@@VassyreViews yea indeed and they look cool
@@VassyreViews I love the big horses! I kept the raven black shire and named him Rampage and he was the best horse and only bucked me off a few times the whole story mode! ^^
Missouri Fox Trotter all the way for me. But I do love the Turkoman as well, I really like the Dark Bay and Silver coats. Buell is amazing as well, but you can't get him until late end game. The next best Dutch Warmblood is the Chocolate Roan one. I don't have him currently in my file, but I wonder how well my boy does against being scared by wolves and gunshots etc. Maybe you could compare a Dutch Warmblood to the Fox Trotter or Turk? Or compare the Warmblood to the Andalusian? All these horses are unique and I personally find sometimes stats aren't everything. I tried the dark bay Andalusian and it was amazing despite what its stats say.
Yea definitely going to do those 2 and yea stats is not everything.
spyrochick101 One time I was attacked by Murfree Brood and my Chocolate Roan Warmblood just casually ran over them and didn’t give a sh*t. They’re very brave!
@@Rani1999 Nice!
The Dark Bay Andalusian is beautiful! I love the reddish brown shine it has! I think it's even more beautiful than the Dark Bay Turkoman
@@Rani1999 I had a Chocolate Roan Warmblood, male, and his name was Moose Tracks. He was a beast! He could travel long distances, and I don't recall him spooking a lot (never bucked me off).
I really like the Turkoman, in fact after using The Arabians (used de white one and the Red one) and this same Missouri fox trotter I started to use the Golden Turkoman (male), love going to hunt, it's super brave and also good at spoting danger when in darkness...
i got a dark bay turkoman from the braithewaithe horses and i really like it. i bought an amber champagne fox trotter in chapter 4 just to try it out , but i really like the turkoman's appearance better.
I have shot groups of five wolves from my trotter numerous times.
There seem to be a lot of other variables for courage of each horse, not just the breed. I've had a wild, black American Standardbred that would stand in the face of Grizzlies (even though they're supposed to be scardy-cats, and most of that breed usually are a bit) when my Turk, Paint, and Foxtrotter have all had "issues". There's some hidden mechanics at work that someone will figure out. I wonder if it's exposure and reward - I'm not sure. When a horse of mine balks at a snake I always get it as close as possible, kill the snake and get the horse to stand next to the carcass which I then load as a trophy thinking I'm showing the horse that everything is OK. No clue if this helps, but it *seems* to.... can't be sure though.
I like my tiger stripped mustang has the best temperament
Yea mustangs are amazing!
The tiger mustang needs a speed buff
mustang is very small
@@Giovane6983 the arabian is a little smaller. The arabian is classified as extra small while the mustang is classified as small
I want to see this again but with lvl 4 horses.
Yeah that's the ideal way to test for sure, thing is it takes a lot longer because you need to bond with both up to Lvl 4.
Yes and the reason why i did it with level 1 is because you get them at lvl 1 and you need alot tile to get them to lvl 4 so if you lvl1 is good your lvl 4 will also be good
What's that location with the wolves? There's also moose there! (11:16)
I'm a Turk man all day long. I have all three coats online. I have the white Arabian too but I never touch it. I'll try the fox trotter if they introduce a coat that I like. I don't really care for the silver dapple or the Amber champagne
Yea big fan of the Turkoman as well
There is a baylock foxtrotter too!
the one where the MFT bucked u off is just because it’s lvl one is lvl 4 they will stomp alligators and lets cougars chase them u need to build up the bonding
Make video of Andalusian vs Hungarian Halfbred and Suffolk Punch vs Belgian Draft.
Myy favorites are:
#1 Silver dapple pinto
#2 silver turkoman
#3 white Arabian (cause it's the first free and fast horse you can get) and black Arabian
#4 chocolate roan and Buell
In my opinion it’s about how quick they take to calm down for the gunfire.
👍sure
Ardennes is the choice for you then
Turkoman, war horse, fearless.
My Kentucky Saddler (a black beauty with white bonds and a white blaze, level 4) walks through thick and thin with me. I caught him near Valentine in Chapter 2 and left my Thoroughbred in the stable.
id rather my tiger striped mustang dunno just love it. found in the wilds only i think an rare.
How you tried to redo a versus with level 4 horses?
The turkuman and the thoroughbred is good to ride
Both are great horse. And have them both. My Turkoman was Dark Bay named him Geryon (From Devil May Cry) and a Amber Champagne and I named him Ixion (One of Yuna' summon from Final Fantasy X).
The best comparison would be with both horses at bonding level 4, when their trust is maximized.
Fox trotters have max speed. At full bonding they’re faster than the turkoman. They’re superior in every way. They don’t freak out over gunshots and they calm down super fast when they do get agitated. But Buell is the best horse of all in the game.
Yh beull beats all for sure
Buell is a good looking horse but he a scared lil bish
Nerd Outreach Program buells more skittish than an Arabian what are you talking about
fattylghtyer you may be right about him being skittish I haven’t put him to the test with predators yet.
@@hopefulBeliever Exactly. Beautiful but almost everything scared him haha
The Turkoman, in my opinion, is better than the Fox Trotter. Of course that’s very biased because I am usually a bounty hunter, so I need a horse that can handle lots of damage. I have both max bonded bay Turkoman and the blue roan Missouri Fox Trotter. Honestly, there isn’t much of a speed difference, but stamina can be a problem at times with the Turkoman. I can go from Saint Denis to Valentine no issue, though. Maybe even Blackwater, but I’ll have to see. By calming you horse while running, their stamina goes up real fast. By doing that throughout our trip, stamina is not an issue for semi-long distances. There are times when we need to walk for a second, though. I have never been bucked off the Turkoman around guns, explosions, gators, wolves, or other critters (the bear is the only exception). My Fox Trotter on the other hand has bucked me off and gotten me killed while bounty hunting, predator hunting, and in gun fights.
I personally believe the Turkoman is the better choice for someone who needs a strong versatile horse, and the Missouri Fox Trotter as a race horse.
I choose the Turkoman. 1) Love the grey coat and 2) their courage more than makes up for it.
Don't really care much about speed and stamina becomes a little redundant at max bond. Keep encouraging/calming them every few seconds and it restores a bit of stamina, meaning they can run much longer distances.
Stamina is overrated. Notice I didn't say unimportant. But as long as you have properly bonded the horse, you can run it from one end of the map to the other using (PS4) L3 every 5-10 seconds. Yeah the core will start wearing out, but my point is the ring can be refilled on the fly. As for top speed, acceleration is more important. (imho) Very few roads are straight enough to properly take advantage of a faster horse. And very few enemies A. chase you long enough for it to matter, B. have anything better than Morgans.
The stability near predators and gunfire is the characteristic that will save or lose your life. (Also someone below commented about basically just finding a horse you like and making it another character in the story, I agree completely)
Yea indeed
I'm becoming more and more convinced that bravery within breeds changes from horse to horse. My Dark Bay Shire may not be the fastest, but by god she is brave. The only time she bucks me off is when I push her too hard very close to alligators. But apart from that she's amazing. Never bucks me off around cougars. When I'm surrounded by wolves she either stands still or rears, allowing me to take my time killing them all. Gives me plenty of time around grizzlies too. But I remember having a Shire before who wasn't as brave. Perhaps there's a random value assigned to the courage stat itself.
@@danvmaul that would be cool.
@@danvmaul Actually I think you are right. I have been thinking the same thing since I started playing. Example: My current Turk is skittish as heck. Doesn't buck me off, but she is constantly bugging about everything. I have noticed it with other horses too. Some are calm, some are just skittish. Like you said, the game makes a dice roll at some point and the horse is on some invisible (to us) calmness meter.
@@sergeantpete6295 Yep. Same thing seemed to happen with a couple of Andalusians I had, they were showing a different bravery level. Wish Rockstar would come forward and clearly explain this system, doesn't make much sense to have to carry on guessing what they actually did.
Pretty cool overall guys
Both really good.
Gosh it makes me nervous xD
@@Sheanzi Hahahah
You get unlimited stamina, if you calm your horse. I think the health is way more important.
I love both horses. But the dark bay Turkoman is my favorite. I found a male one on a enemy in chapter 2. And road it to the end. The best horse I ever had.
I named him Copenhagen, after the world famous Turkoman war horse. He will always be a legend.
Nice and yes health is also important! Nice name
I named my turkoman CocoJumbo
Turkoman, prefer the War type and the different coats for the turk look better imo.
I think they're both war/race horse mix.
I know its stats arent the best but the tiger striped Mustang is my favorite next would be the silver Turkoman
In single player it doesnt matter what horse you pick, go with what looks cool and you feel connected with.
If you play online, go with a brave horse with max health like Rank 20 Traders Kladruber or Perlino Andalusian, Ardennes is not a bad pick either. Speed doesn't matter, as there is only very minor difference really until R* actually makes the speed difference something else.
Personally I dont like Missouri nor Turkoman. I've had the bravest Standardbred, Paint, Appaloosa horse etc. different breeds that are supposed to be not recommended.
I love both
I have the Red Arabian and Gold Turkoman . I notice the Turkoman spooks more easily in online then Single Player.
even in online, the turkoman isn’t spooked that easily
I tested a variety of horses as well. In my opinion, and it might sound crazy, but the horse with the overall best attitude towards everything is the Belgian Draft Horse. Doesn't mind predators- I was able to kill a panther with a tomahawk on the back of one of these (not throwing it- just letting the panther get close enough to hack repeatedly at it). I tested against wolves, panther, alligators, cougars and bear. It did pretty good with all of them. It does well with gunfire. It is a big horse that Arthur looks good on (unlike the Arabian). And the best thing about the Belgian Draft Horse is:L it's totally FREE. You can get one literally anywhere on the map on any road. They bond quickly and they have pretty decent stamina.
You should do them at horse bonding level 4 then it is good
Tbh I was expecting this video to suck and you not knowing what you were talking about but....I was proved wrong, great video I’m choosing the Fox Trotter.
Thank you!!
I prefer the Missouri fox trotter
mr deathclaw992 bruh that what he saidd
I’ve got both. In terms of all of these tests (even the stamina) my Turkoman has more stamina and is slightly faster. He’s also got more health so.
Lol my lv4 bond fox trotter, will literally just chill around wolves, and I just woop out my bow and get myself some perfect pelts, perched atop my trusty steed.
Nice!
I did the same thing with my lvl 4 as well. He didn't even budge as they were charging.
Mine doesnt budge with leve 4 bonding I find with the fox trotter its trash with level one bonding but once at 4 its amazing
I'll tell you guys a secret (mechanic). You can actually train your horses by spamming left stick. Get a new horse, find some predators and start spamming. Keep repeating as often as you can or have time for max temperament and it doesnt cap at level 4 ( sadly temperament meter was removed in early alpha).
@@Greatsaint2000 The only thing you're getting by doing that, is a faulty analog stick. Imma just keep doing what I've been, which is nothing, I'll tap it once, maybe twice. No need for more.
Can you do fox trotter against the brindle thoroughbred? Please? I bought the brindle and it fell over a rock and died but I revived it, but I noticed health isn’t great...but Fox trotter was a bit better.
In your opinion would you get the brindle thoroughbred or Fox trotter? I don’t know which one to get to keep?
Depends if i go for look then the brindle but if i go for stats then the Missouri Fox Trotter.
@@NubIsOn I have another question for you. Which pur race horse best and is it wrong if I sell White Arabian Horse? I wasn't know that's why I asked but when I sold it other day I started to miss it in seconds and dowload it. There should be gray Arabian Horse with big white spots which is similar patterns that some other breeds in game.
If you're a hunter, I'd say the turkoman is your best bet.
dapple pinto Fox Trotter with best saddle and best stirrups
will give you the fastest and best overall ride in this game
only the fox trotter and the brindle thoroughbred have 7 speed when you get them and when complete stranger races you can max out there speed up to 10
so it becomes the fastest horse in the game
I had a silver dapple pinto mft. She was perfect, the speed, looks and she never bucked me off, even near bears and alligators. Then, she got killed in a gunfight and i had my save many hours ago.
I have the Gold & Silver Tuckermans & the Pinto & Amber Trotters on level 4. The one thing I hate about my Tuckermans is they are always agitated if you run them at max speed for long periods of time while patting them to restore their stamina. The Trotters don't have this issue. Don't know if it's a bug in my play-through or they just don't like to be pushed hard for extended periods of time.
Never had that might depend from horse horse
@@NubIsOn I started to experience this issue as Arthur when he got sick with the Gold Turkoman. And playing now as John with 2 other Tuckerman's at level 4 I'm having the same issue. If you run them as max speed for long periods of time even while patting them to restore their stamina they get agitated. And this shows up in the menu under horse mood.
@@NubIsOn One last item I forgot to mention both horses are males.
@@billgarci yea weird
@@NubIsOn You might be right about horses having different personalities. I recently bought an American Paint Grey Overo because I love the way it looks & was attacked twice on level 1 by wolves. Both times the wolves surprised me & surrounded us. They were so close I could almost touch them. I was able to kill them from the horse without being thrown off once. This performance was better than my Trotter's. Also I got rid of the male Tuckerman's to try 2 other females & I experience the same issue. Still think this is an issue with my play through. Love the Turkorman's but they don't love me & they used to be my favorite horses.
Im curios if the horses that are specialixed only for war will handle the wolfs better, ardennes and the other 2 breeds
Agreed, my shire also just stomps on every thing, he's yet to buck me off with wolves or bears etc
No, that only refers to handling
Definitely going to test it in a video
Hi hello Mustangs are friggen tanks and will happily run over wolves and people who are shooting @you
I'll stick with my Arabian. Is it skittish? Yes but not as uncontrollable in any fights I've been in as people make it out to be.
Tiger stripped mustang is my favorite
I wish I could have one turkoman from wilde in chapter 2
Ran my Turkoman straight into a grizzly bear in Tall Trees, it didn't even so much as bat an eyelash. I could ride it a bit away to headshot it with my Rolling Block, and that was the end of that bear.
Turkomans stamina and speed is barely less than the fox trot but that can be fixed by bonding and good tack and bonding is way easier with turkomans and you can conserve stamina on a run with the turkoman which you cannot do with the trotter I like that dark bay turkoman my opinion only
All level 4 horses can regenerate stamina by pressing l3 so you're wrong
I'd say if you like more stable, brave ,hearty, and tall horses go for the turkoman and if you want fast, beautiful coat, higher stamina go for foxtrotter and btw foxtrotters are much more better for horseman and bandit challenges
My bad
Both fav
I had a Foxtrotter at lvl 4 & still bucked me off & ran away around wolves & heavy gunfire. It was pathetically feeble at times. Swapped to a dark bay Turkoman & at lvl 4 just seems more stable. But I do like ‘Rachel’ as well.
The dark bay is amazing. I had a cougar come right to my horses feet, and the horse didn't even buck.
I have all three of the best horses. But my dark bay Turkoman is my favorite.
they all will buck you though
Mine doesn't. I have video of two cougar and one bear attack. My horse did outstanding. The grizzy even came straight at us.
DevilAnse1977 lol stop lying my lvl 4 dark bay Turkoman always bucks me off when a cougar comes to close, infact he can’t even handle three wolves which somehow my rose Arabian can, also speaking of the rose Arabian, the rose Arabian is the best horse in the game wanna know why,no.1 their agitation cooldown timer is much quicker then the Turkoman and fox trotter no.2 they have elite handling so if some wolves or cougars rush you from the side or from infront you can quickly turn and run away and they also have the highest acceleration so this allows you to speed up very quickly and escape from any predator, you can also use it to quickly ram and kill predators. It won’t work with the Turkoman or fox trotter because it will take them too long to get away because of their awful acceleration and handling.Infact I even tested how long they would take to buck me off infront of a pack of four wolves in the same save and my rose Arabian took the longest to buck me off.But oh I guess that’s too hard to believe for you since you’ve Ben brainwashed into believing that the rose Arabian is skittish and a chicken hearted horse,so what I did was in the same save I went to a swamp where there was an alligator and I tried getting as close to it as possible on all three horses and my roses Arabian would still allow me to move closer while running and infact it would even allow me to push it at times,i would keep using that elite handling to turn and constantly push the alligator.I tried doing the same with the Turkoman and fox trotter and they bucked me right away when I got too close. You can try it and test it for yourself since finding a lone alligator isn’t hard compared to finding wolves or cougars.Trust me you’ll be really shocked, but make sure that your rose Arabians bonding is atleast lvl 2.At lvl 1 she’ll buck you off the same distance a lvl 4 Turkoman or fox trotter would.
I've 100 percent this game and I know how all the horses handle bud... I have video of me on the horse. You must not know how to calm your horse.
How do u make ur horse prance in place on ps4? Great vid!
Hold square post lv4 bond.
Kraskel the Gamecat so simple, thanx
Thanks!
My favorite horse is the Chocolate Roan ^^ I named her Red Velvet
Nice!
@@NubIsOn thanks! Yeah I named her Red Velvet cuz she has the colors of a red velvet cake lol
@@Soundtracks92 Hahaha Nice!!
My favorite is the dapple grey missouri fox trotter!❤️
I got all arounder Criollo, Turkmon, racing Thoroughbred and War Andalusian
I rank them like this
1) Criollo aka Fox trott - (best of my lot)
2) Turkmon - (real all rider, reason why i cant let this go)
3) Andalusian-(great if you are hunting, won't buck you off)
4) Throughbred-(by the looks this is the best tall and can jump off 10ft cliff without effort)
Waiting for Black Arabian - this is the only horse that will get you through any forest without hitting trees. It fully automatic when it comes to hurdle avoidance
Turkomans all the way
I like the size of the turkoman more than the size of the Fox trot
The Fox trots health is to low, the turkoman has full health
And the Fox trots acceleration is 2 notches lower than its speed when the turkomans Is only one so the turkoman has more balanced speed and acceleration
Turkoman are my favorite as well
exactly. speed difference is very minor. and stamina wise, who sprints like that anyway? Bravery is the most important factor. I want my horse to be brave & not buck me off and me get eaten by cougars. If I had a horse with 2 speed but never bucked me off I would get that one.
@@iem7252 Yea indeed also i find the look of the horse also very important
i.e.m. Speeds also very important for me, that’s why I go for the turkoman because it never bucks me off and he’s super fast as well
So the turkoman is a bigger horse?
Nobody realises that the Nakota, at least the one in Saint Denis stable, has better speed than the Black & White Arabian lmfao.
but has less stamina bar
Mr. Executioner stamina doesn’t matter after lvl 4 bonding.
Same for the Thoroughbred in the Strawberry stable. Max speed.
Nokota is a small pony, why would we even ride that?
@@rrp7983 It's a race horse, and from what I remember, it was faster than the Black Arabian.
If a horse throws me off, that's OK. Every horse does sooner or later. What I don't like at all is when it doesn't come back afterwards or, even worse, keeps running away when you want to get back on. You blow your lungs out and nothing happens!
Also I’m still using your stranger horse glitch/exploit as John, so thank you again.
Nerd Outreach Program it really works.
I hope that doesn’t get patched. It’s wicked to play the game from chapter 2 with all the horses you want
Little Traveller no fucking doubt. I don’t think it’s as popular or well known as the saint denis horse glitch so hopefully they ignore it. I got to the epilogue last night and got a silver dapple pinto fox trotter in 40 minutes doing the exploit. I made my own video about it for my friends and I got the Rose grey Arabian on my first try while I was making the video lol. I love it.
Nerd Outreach Program same here man. First try I got the rose bay and second the dark grey Missouri, got a thoroughbred too so my stable is almost perfect. Took about 2 hours total maybe 3
Little Traveller well let me let you in on a secret, if you don’t already know, you don’t have to shoot anyone at all. I mean you can check my video if you want, it’s short but I’ve streamlined and perfected the method where you can do it without having to worry much about getting a bounty- just lasso the stranger off their horse and drag them for about three or four seconds then release them and ride away fast, pay attention to the red highlight on the edge of your radar and at the exact moment it disappears (when you get a certain distance away it will disappear) you turn straight around and ride back and the stranger will either be on a new horse or walking toward a new horse. If you save beforehand then you can just reload if it’s not a horse you want. I can get a new horse every 5 minutes or less so you can usually get any horse you want in less than an hour.
You all guys should bond with andalusian, shes the best horse imo for travel, gunfight, and hunt, she'll never kick you except in murfree blood dynamite ambush haha
I have to disagree, I had a andalusian and it always ran off when I got off her.
Both are great but MFT cannot refill stamina while sprinting for a long distance and this is disappointing!
kammelna I think it can lol
It can
