The Stang is actually a beast when at level 4 bonding, ride up into an O'Driscolls camp and and it'll sit there while you taken em out.
I have been rolling a mustang online... and you are right. At level one, you're wondering what the hell you were doing when buying the horse. Stick with it to level four... totally different horse.
Mustang's are brave horses
i tried the gator test out on my 4 horses. a tiger mustang, a light grey shire, a dark bay turk, and buell. all except buell were mares. did it in the delta just north of saint denis. shire did alright, ran over two gator before getting kicked over. turk did only slightly better, which is disappointing for a war horse. the mustang and buell, however, did amazing. i could push them both pretty damned hard before getting kicked over, running over gator over and over, but i think tiger lily, my mustang, did a bit better than buell

The Mustang is small for my taste but is worth having. Warrior spirit in that lil horse !
Another good one! Lol, that moment when you're kinda riding the Mustang, but you're also kinda not haha. Couple things I'd like to mention:
- Pressing the calm button makes all the difference when you're around predators. If you don't do it, virtually horses, no matter the breed, will buck you off at first contact if you're not riding fast enough. Especially on Lvl 1 bonding;
- The more I think of it, the more I realise Rockstar did a stellar job on the horses for the most part. The courage test was quite curious to me, because the Turkoman clearly won the gunfight round yet the Mustang clearly won the predator one. That made me think it's related to horse provenance. All Turkomans are war hybrids that come from a stable, so they were probably 'trained' to the sound of guns and can tolerate it a lot better. The Mustang however, is also a war hybrid but you can only get in the wild. That would mean they are a lot less used to gunfire, but at the same time they handle predators a lot better because it's nothing new to them. That and the possible individual random bravery stat that each horse seems to have would explain the difference in reactions we saw on your test.

I have the Tiger Bag Mustang and it just doesnt give a shit... Bears, Wolves... Snakes... Cougars... Does not give a shit.
Its super super trustworthy and ive even accidently sprinted into a wolf and killed it and she kept running without bucking me, but she was angry haha

My Ardennes' have been the bravest horses I've owned. Have never been bucked by one, they will fight you for control and possibly autopilot away from the predator, but never buck.
I was hunting the legendary pronghorn in New Austin, and I accidentally stumbled upon the tiger striped bay mustang and I wasn't even trying to look for it and I made it my main horse.

I plan to become a trader, and my tiger striped bay has helped me beat predators throughout the map. Even though the speed isn’t as great on the mustang, that horse will safely get you across the map, and love the looks on the mustangs as well

@@MiraSubieGirl I hunted the legendary bear while sitting on mustang. I have two mustangs always with me with 4 level bonding. They can carry pretty heavy weight (carcass, alligator, bison skins) plus us and move at a decent speed.

Honestly the most important thing to me of all the stats does relate to "stability" as you refer to it mostly, but it's simple... I like a horse with good or great stamina and speed of course, but it's how they react to brush and crappy terrain that really makes one stand out which is why I love the Paints most. You need that speed and stamina when you're trying to get away from someone/something and it's rarely on a road or clear track. Nope, it's through trees, over rocks and charging through brush. Many of the breeds HATE brush and they get agitated, squirrely and harder to control and it immediately effects their speed when you need it most. The horses I love best have always been the ones that charge through bramble thickets without any complaint.
Paints also make shorter but quicker strides while galopping which makes them feel really fast. Thoroughbreds for example are faster but make long slow strides so it feels slower.
@@karentjuhh101 And they're a lot more sure-footed because of it. I like the Appys for that reason too. I don't mind riding Thoroughbreds and such down south, but when I'm up North I like a proper trail horse. :) With the long gait of the Turks and Thoroughbreds in the mountains they seem to misstep too much for my liking.

Late to the party but I can see while you tested the mustang's stableness its stamina core kept blinking red. That might explain some of the weird shenanigans?
I got the tiger mustang and had issues with stableness with gun fire as well, I thought I just got a glitchy mustang 🤣
i think the rain was what sent the mustang over the edge so early cause it started raining with the mustang, but it didn't rain with the turk
And yeah my mustang girl is a beast not afraid of anything. Comes in the middle of gunfights and such. Most dependable horse ever used. I just must have gotten really lucky with that. One thing I do have to say so. The my mustang tiger stripped was a bitch to tame at first. Took me 5 tries to actually tame her. I guess so harder to tame so more loyal and brave they become? Not sure. But she is just an amazing horse.
Yeah lot of dumb horses move fast while in fight, and we can't shoot when they are moving randomly. mustang best!
Mustang is a great "Start Horse". You can get it in Chapter 2 in New Hanover. It's good because it's free. And it's as brave as the Turkoman. If you don't wanna the $ 150 horse in the Valentine stable, the Wild Bay coated Mustang and the grey one is a great choice.
My Mustang is great she'll real confident and loyal didn't ditch me when I got ambushed by O'driscolls and when I ran through the swamps she just charged over the crocs didn't high tail it out of there like my other horses did! Oh and once I accidentally threw a dynamite to close to us sent us both flying into the air and when she got back up I was 100% sure she was going to take flight then but she didn't :)
Yea mustangs are amazing
Mustang has great health and don't even care with ambushes. One time the driscolls blasted a wagon, and it bucked me off. normal ambushes are cake walk with mustang. I keep a mustang and arabian with me. arabian to travel near destination and mustang to hunt and carry the load

Turks are great yeah, but for some reason in my playthrough my Turk (silver) bucked me to a snake and ran off when i opened a door and the glass shattered. I think it’s different for all people. Still an amazing horse in the right hands
You should do Region Draft VS Tennessee Walker, or something like that. Ya know?
When doing races I’d suggest finding a nice isolated area without wagons or other riders on horses! Don’t use a trail use a grassy plain perhaps!

Yep I have the Mustang and a huge fan, but you are correct.

I've used the silver Turkoman and the gold and in in my opinion. The silver Turkoman is the worst out of the three when it comes to temperament. I wasn't sure if I was just being biased because I personally prefer the gold, but this proved to me that the silver is actually the worse of the three. I've trampled alligators with my gold Turkoman as apposed to the silver one that bucked me off not long after I got it. Tested it a bit and noticed it was way more jumpy than the other two so I sold it and haven't used it since.
The dark bay is even better than the gold. I had the gold the first 2 play throughs and now on the 3rd play through and got the dark bay and it's even better than the gold. Bears, cougars, alligators I've yet to had it throw me. I may get irritated when shit hits the fan but I've yet to see it buck me or run off. And that's with both maxed out
I named My mustang Spirit because the coat is like the movie one.
just so you know, you don't have to pay for any of these horses... there is a well known workaround where you just need to find a single NPC on horseback on any track, lasso them off their horse, shoot them in the leg, wait for them to get up angry, then gallop off on horseback until they are just out of sight (pref behind a hill) -BUT- you can still see their 'red mist' on your mini radar.... they will automatically spawn in a new horse to chase you and most often it will be one of the faster breeds in the game, and reasonably often a Turkoman. I picked up all three kinds and it took less than an hour. Enjoy!

Haven't got the chance to try turkoman, but my mustang at level 3 bonding never buck me off even when chased by wolves 🙃

My 4 are:
1) Male Amber Champagne Missouri Fox Trotter named Dash
2) Female Silver Dapple Pinto MFT named Bolt
3) Female Dark Bay Turkoman named Epona
4) And now Male Tiger Striped Mustang named Steel
having 2 MFT is wild
to get a benefit out of these, I usually ride with two or three horses for a hunt or ride. They give lot of space to store huge skins(bear, bison, croc, alligator). I will switch my horse to arabian to reach the place and switch the main horse to mustang for hunting. They are stable to hunt.

The turkoman and the Mustang both are good horses. But I always saddle up the dark Bay turkoman. It's my favorite coat in the game. I ride across all of the map with him. And is real fine companion. I recommend you that horse.

I had an Arabian before and it was awful, Turkoman just let me die as I was being attacked by wolf's. Mustang came running back and saved me right before I died.
A steady partner is key. I have found most mustangs sensitive but brave meaning they react but don't get out of control in a gun fight or with predetors.
I want to have a stable full of one breed and see if it varies horse to horse based on gender and exposure while bonding.
Turks I've found temperamental. Buck you one day rock solid the next

Are u fully bonded with the horses? Both my turkoman and mustang tiger stripped are pretty untouched by any sounds. Hunting like aligators and such. The mustang has been better. I honestly think that horses even with same breed have different personalities. Where u can babe two of the same and both will react differently to the same situation.
No the main reason is because u get a horse at lvl 1 and you have to still play with them to get lvl 4 but if the horse is great in lvl 1 it's going to be great at lvl 4 and thats why i am doing the vids about lvl 1 vs lvl 4

@@TheLegend-er7dz yes i know the bonding is important but you get a horse at lvl 1 so the horse need to do well as a level 1 unless you dont use your horse and hope ig get lvl 4 by standing in the stable or using cheats
Definitely agree with you that horses of the same breed have different personalities. My first turkoman was dumb as balls and was more bothered by snakes than my second turkoman who doesn't care as much... but the second one gets skittish in Saint Denis, which the first one didn't. He really doesn't like it when a horse drawn comes up behind it and he'll try to run.

Any known perks for using gold on the silver coat as the stats are the same? I play with someone that uses a leopard Appolusa (purchased with gold) and that thing is a laser.

I use the leopard appy as well! One of my favorites and my most dependable horse in a pinch. Mine is a mare. I can trample wolves, she'll stand unphased as a cougar charges towards us or even a pack of wolves like she trusts me to keep her safe, it's great. The speed and insane stamina is fantastic too! I gained bond with her differently than other horses before her, decided (for curiosity sake) if how you bond with the horse, could make them more dependable. So, I tested this on the white Arabian and the dapple grey Thoroughbred (both mares). I gained all but last level bond by leading the horses through towns or the fields beside towns. Last level, just standard care and riding (little to no gunfights, just travel and hunting). Both of them are insanely reliable. I can ride both in gunfights with little to no resistance, hunt perfectly and neither will move an inch at standstill with predators charging towards them while mounted. To further test this, I got the free Andalusian (also mare) and gained all her bond via riding, care and bringing her to gunfights.. was the most unreliable of them all.. I'm not sure if it was by insane coincidence or if it also has a factor of HOW you gain bond with your horse until level 4. Maybe someone else could also test this? I'm very curious.

For Hunting these 2 are the clear winners. And clearly the bravest 2 Horses in the game from my testing.
The Mustang is naturally agitated, so I don’t think it is fair to compare the two of them on stability

I always keep a tiger stripe mustang as my 2nd, usually if my main horse bolts he stays..I agree with you on this one though.. turkoman is a little bit better all around in my opinion
I think it's pretty unfair that you didn't test them both at level 4. My mustang is an absolute tank who trounces over everything except for snakes, he hates snakes. I'm keeping this beast until I can buy a fox trotter
when mustang hisses, you can easily understand a snake there. If mustang gets agitated heavily, then there are predators near by. Grab your guns!! I hunted pack of wolves sitting on mustang. Brave as hell and stable as a rock

Bonding glitch makes it so your horse is a pussy, My fully bonded Fox trotter got scared shitless because of a black bear.
The black bear was running away and my horse wouldn't move/run after it.

As mentioned I think that the same horse breed can have different personalities. My tiger stripped mustang is so brave it is crazy no other horse has been that great. But then I used other mustangs before and they where pretty attigated sometimes. So I guess it all depends. Maybe also male vs female makes a difference?

People another way to do a horse glitch is buy going to emerald ranch aim ur gun at the fence guy Seamus or u can shoot him in the arm with ur varmint rifle ride off a little but not far make him chase u he will spawn great horses then get off ur horse and take the horse from him the same wit the old man at the ranch standing on his porch in emerald ranch talk shit to him make him chase u he too will spawn great horses this is how I have tried every horse on rdr2 and fully bonded with everyone of them and put each on heavy gunfire against the bootyhunters and there dogs and the mustang has done the best job and the American paint also the black and white Hungarian half-breed
I deleted my rdr2 so i can have the version 1.00 and i did the horse glitch in saint denis , i got the rose gray arab,silver turk, and tiger mustang, i like the mustang most and i hate the arabian he gets so agitated easily

In my three playthroughs, my 5 Arabians I’ve had have never had any issues with being agitated easily. They’ve been 2 white Arabians, 2 black Arabians, and a single rose grey bay.
Gibson Gold mine bucked me off while riding into the swamp at night because of gators and some night people ambushed me🙄

Dude be honest u not bonding with these horses at all I usually like ur videos but this one is bs I know all these horses in this game and each and every coat I played with them all at level four bonding I have a 1500 dollar bond in all counties on this game that's how I like to play it's obvious that u love the turk horse but it's not that great for my type of gameplay the mustang is the best horse for gunfire when people are shooting at me it's the best when the wild life chasing me another horse I recommend is the American paint it's great under heavy gunfire not great with wildlife tho
I said that they were lvl 1 and the reason because u don't buy /get a horse a lvl 4 and if the lvl1 is good the lvl 4 would be better

Great videos btw! It makes me sad that Rockstar didn't vary the stats of horses (and lots of other elements of the game) to some degree. Then you would have a kind of randomised 'Breed' generator, where every horse you come across has slightly different stats, but these stats would be within the parameters of that breed so, for example, a Turkoman could have Speed 5-7, Stamina 4-6, Health 6-8 and accel 4-6. It would make taming horses actually seem worth while, with the possibility of picking up a fantastic steed. Still a superb game, but could have been better with more RPG elements.
Turks are much better than this for stability but maybe they have to be bonded. I never get bucked anymore but my turk or foxtrot
I keep five horses at all times when I play 3 in the stable and two with me because of my play style I make sure I have zero honor I kill everything moving and Rob anything

Dude I like your videos but can I give some constructive criticism here,
1. Stop using John. I know people shouldn't be on UA-cam before playing but anyway its better to use Arthur (use cheats or that glitch to get horse's)
2. Have them fully bonded (use the cheat)
3. Use a timer for the races
4. Sort out the split screen
Dude u do know that u play John in the first red dead redemption? And also story wise red dead redemption 1 plays after red dead redemption 2. So yeah he is using John.

Yea for the bonding level i use lvl 1 because that's what your horses have when you get them and you have to use them to get to lvl 4 but if your horse is great at lvl 1 is also gonne be good at lvl 4 and that is also why i am doing the vids about a horse lvl1 vs lvl4, Thanks !
@@NubIsOn I respectfully disagree. It's pretty quick to get to level 4, and courage improves with levels. A level 4 Tiger Stripe Mustang will not buck you if you're chased by wolves and a level 4 Turkoman will let you trample alligators, with some calming of course
@@johnx4133 yes indeed but i still think you have to play sometime to get it to level 4 (not alot) but still when i get a new horse the horse need to do everything without bucking me off and that's why i am testing them at level 1 because if the level 1 is good or decent he will be amazing at level 4
trash ofc the mustang is better, its just some slower but for me its much much better and ofc at lvl 4 bonding its way amazing
Stop spreading misinformation. Both these horses are beast's. Maybe if you took the time to actually bond with them you'll know that
In the online you'll find yourself riding a lvl 1 bonding horse constantly even with bonding lvl 4.
I'm sure it's a glitch, it's annoying when your horse refuses to obey you because of a stupid snake.
