Just purchased my nextbase 320XR and hardwire kit for our new mk7 astra normally just use the cigarette port in previous cars, great tutorial mate cheers
Hi. Thanks I was able to wire mine in. I would just like to note for some people. On my car and it may be the same for you. When i switched my ignition off the 12v didnt cut off immediately. I had to give it a second
Fantastic tutorial, gave me the confidence and managed it without issues Any suggestions on placement? I have mine to the left of the rear view and up high. This allows the visor not to clash and for there to be no restriction to visibility. But the downside is the dashcam “looks” through an area of windscreen not covered by the wiper
Hi i have a Fiat500x 2016 i have a Nextbase 320XR bundle to fit.can you instruct me on how to hardwire and fir front and rear camera please. I was going to get Halfords to fit but they tell me the fuse box says dealer access so they will not touch it in case as regards to the hardwire. I have no idea myself but saw your UA-cam hope to hear from you thanks
Be warned many taxi driver have ask this to be done, even though the description says the camera will cut off when the battery drops low they sometimes don’t. Over the years I have had more people complain they got stranded with a flat battery than I care to recall. The cams are not designed to be surveillance cameras and as such a switched and a permanent would be recommended. Anyway your call and good luck with the install.
Very good guide but the fuse tap is upside down , you need to probe the fuse hole to find the live feed which is the top hole. A slot is needed in the plastic trim below the fuse to fit the fuse tap correctly
yes its fuse piggyback pointing downwards in Astra K! You can test by leaving out the 20amp main fuse and plugging in with only the new accessory fuse in the piggyback, if dashcam still powers all good, if dashcam dead its the wrong way around!! Whilst the circuit it still protected with piggyback pointing upwards like in video that would mean you are running the dashcam effectively through both fuses which is not the correct way@@Goldylocksss
Great tutorial, thanks. I followed the instructions but with my car having start/stop, every time the engine stops, the dash cam goes off. Is there anyway to stop this happening?
You will need to find the fuse for a circuit that stays on with stop start but goes off with ignition such as heater circuit. Your heater should stay on when stop start kicks in.
hi i bought the dashcam but needs to be live all the time as someone is damaging my car by scratching it trying to get them on camera doing this will it drain the battery if wired on all the time cheers in advance any suggestions astra 2019
You would need to use a constant live such as the central locking circuit, this stays live all the time. To be aware that although most camera are supposed to shut off if they detect low voltage most don’t and so I’ve seen a lot of people with a flat battery when wired in this way. Also worth noting is that a dash cam is not a surveillance camera so is not designed to be on 24hrs a day 365 days a year.
Amazing guide. Done it in no time. I have managed to put my excess cable under glove box on top of some cover.Really neat and tidy.

Any chance you could advise me on which fuse to use on a 2015 Vauxhall mokka 👍
good guide in how i can get a switch live for the amp in rhe boot. .
Excellent!!
Thanks man 👍
Nice one
I have a 2007 Corsa. Would this be similar?
I’m going to give it a go, I’m hoping it’s sensor too while ignition is off to record if vandalised or hit while parked.

Yep, if the piggyback fuse plug is the wrong way round, the circuit is not protected by the fuse. 👍
VERY important point which should have been covered more fully in the video showing how to test/find correct orientation..😊

nah it fits without cutting up bits if you bend the tail a bit
Hi have you installed a dash cam on a Vauxhall Corsa F?
Thank you
Great tutorial, thanks.

Hi where's best place to connect the earth probe with fuse box being in the middle
Either seat mounting bolt or the very edge of the cigarette lighter socket. Edge is earth and centre pin is live so don’t cross them with the probe.

Hello, nice video. What for kind of Dashcam is it?
This would work for pretty much any dash cam.
Can you make rear view camera

BEWARE , Ensure you find which side of the fuse is the live feed.
Plug it in the wrong way and you'll have no protection.
👍👍very very good point and not covered in depth..
You don't show how on earth your meant to get the cover for the fuse box back on!!!
Nothing to show it just clips in. If your struggling have a quick look in the cars owners manual.
