Notes to my previous doctors: I'm not depressed, this isn't natural, it's not just aging, I don't have to get used to it! I sleep only 4 nights a week and even then it's about 4 hours. I'm freakin' exhausted and zero sleep is flaring up my Lupus. But, do they care? Nope.

Estrogen helps you stay asleep. If you don’t have enough estrogen, progesterone won’t help much. At least it doesn’t for me. Too much progesterone actually causes me anxiety. Again that’s if I don’t have enough estrogen.

I have a similar experience. I still have low E2 with a 0.1mg patch but my provider won't prescribe any higher since "that's a rockin' dose.." the P4 puts me to sleep but I don't stay sleeping. 3-4a wake-up calls most mornings. 😢

@@cozinha8945 I wonder if your provider is willing to prescribe the estradiol pill instead? Some women do not absorb the patch well. I'm having trouble with my patch being consistent. Dr Tassone, it’s my understanding that during our reproductive years we have virtually no progesterone during the first half of our cycle, since progesterone gets produced by the corpus luteum after ovulation and then drops off before our period sets in. So wouldn’t we experience all the progesterone deficiency symptoms you describe here every month during the first half of our cycles? This is not the case, however. I’d love to have this explained, please. Thank you for your content!

Back in 2021 I had a uterine ablation and a mirena IUD inserted to stop excessive bleeding that led me to a 7.3 hemoglobin. Back in 2022 I started getting hot flashes and having trouble sleeping so I went to a Dr got estradiol patch .75 and oral progesterone 100mg at night. I have been doing great til about a month ago more flashes. I just tuned 48 and I got new insurance so I had to see a new ob last week. New ob increased estradiol a bit but said I don’t need progesterone because I get it in the IUD. I’m worried it’s only been a week no more flashes. Still sleeping but not sure what’s coming

Confused. I track my BBT. I have a consistent temperature spike after ovulation until next menses. This matches my cervical mucus. Cycles are regular. The luteal phase, on average, is 10 days. I have the symptoms of low progesterone in my luteal phase - fluid retention, bloating/consipation, dizziness, heart palpitations, insomnia...almost the whole list on pg 88 of your book 😉 Doctor is willing to give me oral progesterone. I'm confused regarding low progesterone d/t outside of my symtpms I dont match up with the cause. Normal menses, testosterone is not high, I dont have anovulatory cycles, no hx pcos, etc. Love your info! Praying you come to NC soon! ❤

I've been taking estradiol for about 15 yrs, mostly without progesterone. I can't take progesterone because it brings back the nightly hot flashes that the estradiol stops.
Because of no progesterone, I build up uterine linings. This has caused me to have 7 D&Cs over these 15 yrs! Yes, 7!
I have tried every type of progesterone and always the same result.
I had a Mirena IUD for a year but had it removed as I did not.feel good about the chemical progestin.
I just recently suffered through a week and a half of progesterone. It induced hot flashes waking me all night but caused a bleed off. I had built up.yet another lining recently so this is a crazy ongoing dance. Everyone recommends a hysterectomy. But I do not want to have organs removed.
I'm kinda at my wits end at this point. Just turned 70 and I don't want to keep this up.

How do you recommend someone in perimenopause use progesterone if they're having regular cycles and having these symptoms in the follicular phase where we normally wouldn't have incd progesterone yet? I am about to start my HRT and I'm in perimenopause with still predictable Cycles. Am prescribed estrogen gel and the progesterone to use the second half of my cycle to mimic my natural cycle. I am at the end of first wk of my cycle and have issues sleeping, anxiety, mind racing, and woken up with a hot flash last night. Waiting to receive my hormones in a couple of days but feel confused about having symptoms similar and both phases
