I think once the baggage reached Sri Lanka, it is on colombo airport's airlines responsibility to shift to the Paris flight.. yes the Indian security is rough, but their responsibility was to transfer it to colombo's flight, and colombo's responsibility to receive and shift it to paris' flight

I am an Indian and to be honest I have had the worst experience in my entire travel history with Delhi airport. I have had to travel to and travel through Delhi quite a few times and now I like to purchase tickets trying my best to avoid Delhi airport. The last time I was in Delhi, I felt so helpless - that I really cried in frustration. I have had to approach the staff in Delhi airport a few times trying to get some answers and they were really rude or just said they didn't know. I hope all this would change in the near future as Delhi is our capital city and this is not how a capital city's airport should be. I wouldn't say this if my experience was bad just once or twice. I have been deeply hurt by my experiences in Delhi airport and not in Delhi. My experience outside the airport in Delhi has always been really really good.

I flew to the USA 2019 Via Vienna using Austrian Airlines ....I got to LA ..but my checked in bags did NOT ...I reported this to the Airline at LAX ...I was asked to fill in a form ....and then the lady gave me $50 ... in CASH ...as an apology :) ....24 hours later ...my bags were brought to my hotel ..which was a good 60 miles from LAX
Sorry for the bad experience at Delhi Airport. Don't let 1or 2 bad experience ruin your experience. I have had such superb experiences in Thailand and a couple of bad ones it happens but I feel in general Thailand is AWESOME .
You could have gone from Cochin International Airport.....At least you could go back home with the feeling to come back again... All your happiness vanishes once anyone get a bad experience on last day of the trip .. No issues .. it happens. May be some other things would be going through security. Security would be under pressure. So don't feel bad. Ok
Your checked bag not being loaded is in no fault with Indian ground handling team, it’s squarely to be blamed at Sri Lankan side of business. Just an opinion, that need not be mismatched. I would in most probability pack toiletry bag always in a checked in bag even in a US domestic flight, let alone on an international flight. I agree, the handling of personal items can be a lot more to be desired.

If it helps man, even as an Indian, my family always gets trouble flying in and out of the New Delhi Airport. The workers usually give trouble to ANYONE they can, and it sucks

I think everyone goes through this rigorous security checks in india. They will check all metals and electronics and fluids in your carry on luggage. Even i got my guitar allen key taken away from me one time that too for a domestic flight after a layover. One time they had to delay boarding for me because the security took a long time checking everything and i was panicking. I agree the security check process or equipment can be upgraded because not everywhere i go through this

Indian govt had to release the terrorists for the safety of passengers of hijacked plane in one such event, the same terrorists later carried out many bombings across India. Indeed, Delhi - Colombo seems an odd route to fly off to Paris. But SriLankan airlines offer cheaper flights. Probably it is Air India flying to Colombo in combination with Sri Lankan to Paris.
In India the security at airports is fairly tight due to the friendly country next door. A nail clipper, which is made of metal, will stand out in the x-ray. The security staff will have to physically verify whether the "suspicious item" is a bullet or something harmless. It is better to put such metalic items in a transparent plastic bag and pass the bag separately through the x-ray scanner. Secondly, when you have through checked in baggage it is always a good thing to check whether the baggage has been loaded into the 2nd aircraft. This does not mean that you need to physically check whether the baggage has been loaded. The chap checking your boarding pass at the boarding gate can be requested to check online whether your baggage has been loaded.

I hope all this would change in the near future as Delhi is our capital city and this is not how a capital city's airport should be. I wouldn't say this if my experience was bad just once or twice. I have been deeply hurt by my experiences in Delhi airport and not in Delhi. My experience outside the airport in Delhi has always been really really good.
I have been following you Mac since Pakistan and you are a super lovely humble and respectful guy who is an excellent vlogger ( my favourite). I hate to see anything bad to happen to you because you are too nice and I see you have parted ways with the others and I think not only myself but we have grown attached to you and we would hate anything bad to happen on your travels after a good few months of positive experiences! I flew to the USA 2019 Via Vienna using Austrian Airlines ....I got to LA ..but my checked in bags did NOT ...I reported this to the Airline at LAX ...I was asked to fill in a form ....and then the lady gave me $50 ... in CASH ...as an apology :) ....24 hours later ...my bags were brought to my hotel ..which was a good 60 miles from LAX

You could have gone from Cochin International Airport.....At least you could go back home with the feeling to come back again... All your happiness vanishes once anyone get a bad experience on last day of the trip .. No issues .. it happens. May be some other things would be going through security. Security would be under pressure. So don't feel bad. Ok
Your checked bag not being loaded is in no fault with Indian ground handling team, it’s squarely to be blamed at Sri Lankan side of business. Just an opinion, that need not be mismatched. I would in most probability pack toiletry bag always in a checked in bag even in a US domestic flight, let alone on an international flight. I agree, the handling of personal items can be a lot more to be desired.

I think everyone goes through this rigorous security checks in india. They will check all metals and electronics and fluids in your carry on luggage. Even i got my guitar allen key taken away from me one time that too for a domestic flight after a layover. One time they had to delay boarding for me because the security took a long time checking everything and i was panicking. I agree the security check process or equipment can be upgraded because not everywhere i go through this

Do you not know number of plane hijacks in India? Indian govt had to release the terrorists for the safety of passengers of hijacked plane in one such event, the same terrorists later carried out many bombings across India. Please know the reason of “why strict security” before getting annoyed of losing such non-trivial things. Peoples lives over toothbrushes!
Stop getting mad over everything, he didn’t question about the security check. His point was the security people could have handled his stuff in a better way and their equipment could be upgraded. He didn’t say anything wrong…other countries also have threats to safety but they know to deal it better.

New Delhi - Colombo - Paris seems like an odd route. Were there not more direct flights or were they already booked or just a lot more expensive?

Indeed, Delhi - Colombo seems an odd route to fly off to Paris. But SriLankan airlines offer cheaper flights. Probably it is Air India flying to Colombo in combination with Sri Lankan to Paris.

In India the security at airports is fairly tight due to the friendly country next door. A nail clipper, which is made of metal, will stand out in the x-ray. The security staff will have to physically verify whether the "suspicious item" is a bullet or something harmless. It is better to put such metalic items in a transparent plastic bag and pass the bag separately through the x-ray scanner.
Secondly, when you have through checked in baggage it is always a good thing to check whether the baggage has been loaded into the 2nd aircraft. This does not mean that you need to physically check whether the baggage has been loaded. The chap checking your boarding pass at the boarding gate can be requested to check online whether your baggage has been loaded.
I dont know why but the west keep comparing india and always showing india in bad light like they need that in their videos
