  • The second carb I have used on this engine. I am not a fan of this carb. APC 12x6, OS#8 plug, 5-7% nitro fuel.

    I realize that I had inadvertently set the tachometer to 3 blade. It happens sometimes. Fortunately I didn’t use it much because I was so darn occupied with trying to get the mechanics of the carb to idle. This dynamix carb is not stock and some of the screws/nuts are not original. My comments about it are directed at this particular carb and not all dynamix carbs. I, do however, feel this carb is overly engineered for no good reason. Now if someone would like to donate a new or pristine dynamix carb for me to evaluate I would do that.

    Hi David, got one but haven't tried it yet. When it gets warmer here I'll give it ago.

    @ 06:13 that was really close David, scared the crap out of me. Nice running engine otherwise. But like you said, what's the point of a carb that doesn't let you go below what sounded like 5,000+ rpm...

      Yes I felt the prop graze my knuckle. I have seen these carbs work well in other videos but it just has not been my experience.

      With the original carburetor setup, low engine speeds can be achieved without any problems. This carburetor appears to have been repaired and has an additional nut on a threaded rod. This restricts the range of movement of the throttle slide. ua-cam.com/video/QSrjCOsYVNU/v-deo.htmlsi=Y4sXV4WanTZLJjWF&t=99

      How am I supposed to assist you with only images of an engine? Feel free to email me images but I do not know how I am to assist you with that.

    Thanks for another great video David! Would I be correct in estimating the actual prop rpm to be 12,000 rpm?

    • @dmrcflyr2
      @dmrcflyr2  5 місяців тому

      Well that is why I use a tachometer, I cannot accurately estimate RPM.

      @FMo01 5 місяців тому +1

      The maximum speed indicated by the tachometer at 3-blade setting is 8330 rpm. Multiplied by 3/2, this results in 12495 rpm. This is a realistic value.

      @dmrcflyr2  5 місяців тому +1

      12495 RPM is not realistic according to the review articles using a 12x6 prop. ;-). heck I don’t believe I even adjusted the HSN.

      @@dmrcflyr2 I have now measured the audio frequency of the engine noise at the point in the video where the tachometer showed 8330 rpm with 3 propeller blade settings. The frequency is 207 Hz which, multiplied by 60, gives a speed of 12420 rpm. If you take measurement errors into account, then you can say about 12000 rpm 🙂.

      Ok cool! What software do you use to analyze the audio frequency?
