- I picked up this older OS Max FP-40 two stroke glow motor the other day from a local seller. The prop drive had vice grip marks which was not a good sign. I torn the motor down to find more marks on the connecting rod, piston was installed backwards so the intake port was on the exhaust side and also found that one of the Teflon pads on the piston pin had been torn off likely from more pliers. Some people are just so ham fisted.
I filed the marks off the connecting rod as best as I could, reassembled correctly and hoped for the best. I ran Magnum 10% fuel with a Master Airscrew 10x6 prop and OS #3 glow plug. The motor runs pretty well all things considered.
These are great engines....bought mine in 1992 & it's still flying my old HiBoy trainer. Would be great to see the FP range made again - small glow engines are becoming harder to find these days.
I believe that the LA series replaced the FP series and they are still produced. They run very well also.
How do u fill gas
This is a glow engine and it uses glow fuel, not gas. To fill the fuel tank, I remove the tubing from the carb and fill. Once done, I re-attach the tubing to the carb.
