    "Love Happy" was conceived as a solo vehicle for Harpo.
    But, as usual, Chico needed the money.
    And Groucho got lured into it too.
    Before it was over, the producers were short on cash as well...
    ...and sold ad-space in the movie.
    The big chase finale is wall-to-wall product placement.
    (See if you can spot the blooper in the Mobilgas shot at 1:15.)

    I know I said in my book that the final scene was done to sell ad space to raise production money -- I had a source for this claim -- but this turns out to be incorrect -- Producer Lester Cowan was working out an elaborate scheme to set up a national advertising campaign for the movie when it was released, tying in with these various nationally-advertised products -- but this plan was scotched when United Artists released the film in one district at a time because there were only 4 prints until Cowan paid his lab bill --
