Haven’t see you for awhile. I always enjoyed your show and I was thinking of you the other day…. I am the first one liked your video today. Thank you for your video !
A delightful insight into your process. You are a dab hand with the Leica settings, and that must be a weight off your mind when you are on the street, allowing you to immerse yourself in the mise-en-scéne. Old school is cool. Especially on a hi tech camera like the SL3!
„Beautiful“ describes the Video good enough. I always wondered, why people are using M Lenses on a SL, but holy moly it makes sense now. I love the color rendering on that Camera (and M Cameras). It is such different to the whole market. Good Video, as always. I enjoyed it! Have a good week :)
You taught me something. I was using R lenses on the SL3 and was thinking the focus peaking wasn’t as good as the SL2. It was just the sensitivity setting lol. ✌️out Maths
Nice video. Why is it that auto magnification for M lenses works with electronic viewfinder attached to M camera body but Leica could not make that connection work on the SL3? Is it the M Adapter L that does not completely transmit the data from M lens to SL camera?
@@mathphotographerit was great to watch. I mainly shoot my SL3 with M glass :) Leica should start making SL glass with pseudo manual/ focus scale like the 28mm of the Q. Or they can create a new line with those features.
Thank you for posting. I wonder if the Voigtlander lenses would work with the SL3? They don't come with the 6bit contact pads. So would the adapter still function ok?
In theory yes, in real life you get often flickering and wrong read outs even with the setting to manual. I stopped using third party lenses with this adapter
With regards to Auto-magnification not working on the SL3 with M lenses due to no electronic communication with the camera body - a M11 camera body doesn’t have any electronic communication either; yet Auto-magnification DOES work …
As far as I know it works on Rangefinder M-cameras because the moment in time when you turn the focus ring the camera recognises changes in the rangefinder mechanics. You could say it works because the camera detects the movement of the rangefinder focus roller. But I need to confirm if I remember this correctly.
@@mathphotographer I just assumed because the menu only started at 12mm for not detected lenses. I just assumed that at least the pairing might not be as precise then. Or does the 12mm, 15mm ... only mean that the SL is showing those framelines?
It’s embarrassing that a Nikon is better at manual focusing lenses nowadays with the right adapter with automatic eye focus confirmation or automatic punch in on the eye… everyone who wants to manual focus should just get a zf or z8/z6iii
Isn’t 6 bit is too little ? Only 64 lens ? If Leica make a small knot in the adapter, like the one m body is using, then, the adapter will know if use is focusing the lens.
@@jlehm isn’t 6 bit mean 2^6 ? That mean 2x2x2x2x2x2=64 ? Anyway, the MF magnification for M lens isn’t that difficult, only add a small machine part. For this high price, this should be included, and close up telescope like feature as well

Thank you very much Ben. Appreciate your kind comment.
Very useful. Thank you!
Glad you liked it.
I learned a lot from this video ! Thanks so much for the overview and practical information.
Thanks Michael.
I bought the Summaron two weeks ago when I visited the Leica Park in Wetzlar. I love the lens as a walk around reportage lens.
You did 100% right, the Summaron is for me THE street photography lens, outstanding!

...und ich freue mich auf die Leica SL3 Fortsetzungserklärungsfilme. Super - vielen Dank dafür
Another brilliant video and informative leaves other people in the shade.
Thank you for the positive feedback.

A very interesting video. A great
lesson about depth of field. I like
very Much your Channel even I
don t have a Leica.
Thanks for being such a loyal viewer, I always appreciate your feedback and comments.
zum Glück habe ich eine SL3 an der ich all das auch einstellen kann! :-)
Oh new video!🍿 🥤
Yes Gaston, this one was overdue :)

Hey buddy, great to see your new content. Can you make a vid comparing the Leica SL 50m1.4 and the new Sigma 50 1.2? Please, thank you!
Thanks - will consider :)
@@mathphotographer Thanks I just Love the SL 3 it’s such a joy to use!
👍❤️👍

I can try out, I have Voigtlander lenses in the studio.

@@mathphotographerThat makes complete sense; thanks
Hm, Voigtländer 10mm wirde dann wohl nix auf SL
I do not have that lens so cannot comment ... someone else wants to chime in?

Leica should have a close look at the Nikon Zf. So much better iserinterface

Actually, you raise an interesting point: I should shoot again M-lenses on my Z8 and Zf bodies, excellent suggestion :)

There are 6! Bit configurations which is 6*5*4*3*2*1=720 lenses.

@@user-ms8qg2rz5s good catch. You’re correct with regard to bits. I was thinking number combinations of 1-6. 👍👍
@@jlehm that’s ok. Just don’t why Leica think 64 lens is good enough?
@@user-ms8qg2rz5s Agree, it should be possible with minor modification to also enable auto magnification for M-lenses on SL bodies.
You repeat yourself many times, anyone adapting manual lenses know those things, sorry
Thanks for your feedback, will be shorter next time :)
