I was having a problem with skipping and I believe this quick and easy fix solved the problem! Just as simple as pressing down on the tonearm! Glad I found your video! Thanks so much for sharing! Now I can enjoy my old vinyl a lot better!
Man! I can't thank you enough for this video. I added a few drops of car oil to plastic piece you've mentioned here, and there's no more skipping at all! The needle is also falling slowly before it touches the record, while it used to fall quickly and hit the record. Big thanks from Syria.
@@darkknight1a dude, you saved me from an embarrasing possible fight with a record store. They sent me a brand new record that skips only on a few tracks. I think there is something up with the vinyl process they used, but I could def be wrong. Just glad the damn thing plays correctly now, thanks man. Quarter worked perfect.

If mine still continues to skip what else do you suggest? Got my first record player today. Threw the record on. Made sure to read instructions before doing so. Playing at 33. First song I played played well until about 15 seconds in and started skipping like crazy. I tried going to another song and same thing so I decided to clean the record but it still continues to skip. I flipped the record. Dealing with the same issue. It’s skipping. The last song on the record is playing with no skips at all. I’m very new to this so I’m all ears. Any suggestions is appreciated. Merry Christmas and God bless
put some bluetact on the toner arm on top of where the needle sits. it should hold it down enough to play . be careful not to add to much tho as this can burn out the needle
Thank you so much! I got the new Taylor Swift record and it was the only one I had that was skipping so I was concerned that some there was problem with it, I tried this and it seems to have been fixed!
I didn't even need to press down on the tone arm, I found 1 SINGLE SPECK OF DUST, cleaned it off, and the record played through (so far, I'm listening to it right now with no hiccups as far as I can tell). ONE SPECK OF DUST and I thought I'd have to get a refund!
what should i do if my needle is too heavy for one side of my record?? Like it plays just fine on one side but on the other side it seems like my needle is too heavy and my record warps for a second and then slowely stops.
Ah yesss! Thank you! I just went to play a record I just bought and it was skipping like crazy... I watched this video and remembered that my cat had jumped on my record player earlier and that turned out to be the problem!
I have the Audio-Technica LP60x, and this worked like a charm. Can't buy a thrill by Steely Dan would skip two times in the first song alone. Now there is no more skipping and I can enjoy my favorite artist! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the quick and easy fix! I just recently started collecting records and I noticed one of my Melanie Martinez records was skipping. This is a life saver
I have a Sony PS LX300USB with a skipping problem. I eventually figured out that it only likes to play pop and classical music. If I put on a record with heavy bass and drums, it skips right past the tracks. I guess my turntable is a musical snob.
Thank you for the video on this it really explains why my all in one that my mom bought me a couple years ago I think it’s a PYLE brand skips all the time and especially when I have anything to base. Thank you for explaining this because it’s so makes sense. I was trying to explain to her why and on one isn’t good and this video is proof that I am right so thank you! This blind guy is very happy
Record-ology this is my first time trying to reply to a replay of my comments so thank you for the advice I look that turntable up and it’s only $200 is that too inexpensive for good sound when I have a 5.1 sound system in the sound bar and also didn’t know if spending more money when I get more quality or is this $200 one good quality? Sorry for all the questions but I think you so much
Dude you’re my hero!!! I have a project carbon III and it’s been skipping EVERY record, driving me nuts. Indeed the rest does not go down all the way and the tone arm rests on it when playing records. I have to push down on the rest to keep it down and the record plays great now. Problem still not fixed the rest won’t stay down…
Really good advice, I have an audio technica LP60X and I believe the tracking force to be very well calibrated however it skipped 2 times on the song ‘around the world’ on daft punks Album ‘homework’, but I followed what you said and it doesn’t skip anymore, I also tried it on an Eminem album that would repeat infinitely and it also worked. Thanks so much!
Thank you friend we just brought a crosley cruiser delux for my mother and thought there was a problem with it thanks to you my mother and sister who brought the gift are very happy... too bad they stop putting the counter weights on the arm... thanks again
My record play has the exact same design so I was hoping this would work. Follow instructions and went through this a few times but unfortunately it is still skipping at the same spots on multiple new and older (1-6 year old) records. Any other suggestions that could help!?
Is there a way to adjust the weight on the tonearm of record players like the Victrola Empire? The mechanisms look very different than the ones on more advanced turntables.
Thank you! Is there a recommended lubricant to use? Just curious. If the lubricant is replaced(after cleaning of course!) it should work like intended. WD40?
Started looking to get a new record player as I was listening to a record and it was skipping at my favourite part, did this and replayed and it didn’t skip
Dude where was this video 4 months ago when I got an all-in-one player that skips on almost every record (especially my taylor swift ones). This almost completely fixed my skipping issues (still have some minor ones on very bass heavy songs but 1-2 skips every few songs is 1000x better than 10+ skips on just 1 song).
I have two record players, Victrola navigator and luga lake phonograph. A few of my records skip on the phonograph but the same records play perfectly fine on my victrola player so i have no clue what’s wrong. I tried cleaning my records, adding weight to the tone arm, switching stylus, and now this but they keep skipping and idk if it’s the phonograph or my records but it wouldn’t make sense that they play perfectly fine on my other one. The phonograph also has a better sound quality than the victrola but coincidentally a few of my favorite records are the ones that skip :/
Y'all I've got a question. I've had this issue and this solution helped mostly, but I've noticed that mine skips on the songs closer to the outside of the record and as the needle gets more towards the center, it stops skipping. I have a player like this where the bottom doesn't fully hold the record up, so does that also make it skip?

i tried this but it didnt work, i have another cheaper record player of ion and that one plays it fine but my more expensive ion just keeps skipping, i even replaced the needle and it still does, its the same as this record player in the video but even pushing it down didnt help, i thought it might have something to do with the weight not giving enough down force on the needle cuz its fixed if i give the needle some weight( like a coin on top of it) but idk if that would damage my records, so i dont wanne jump the gun on this so does anyone have any advice they can give me based on this information?

I would sand the two plastic contact points down so it is below the arm in the rest position. Get your Dremel tool out.....
thank you so much I had to but the same record three times because it was always skipping this one song I’m gonna try this and hopefully it works
i tried this but it didnt work, i have another cheaper record player of ion and that one plays it fine but my more expensive ion just keeps skipping, i even replaced the needle and it still does, its the same as this record player in the video but even pushing it down didnt help, i thought it might have something to do with the weight not giving enough down force on the needle cuz its fixed if i give the needle some weight( like a coin on top of it) but idk if that would damage my records, so i dont wanne jump the gun on this so does anyone have any advice they can give me based on this information?
Thanks very much I will try this.
