Subscribed! I've been working on my 1969 Cal 34 for about 2 years now in hopes of doing this exact journey! Im up the James near Richmond. Another 2 years probably before I'll be ready, but super excited to watch your adventure!
@@anniehubbard5315 sorry, i thought i replied the other day, lol. you could take that boat all the way up the James to Richmond if you stay in the channel, but finding a slip to accommodate that draft will be difficult upriver from Norfolk. My boat draws 5 feet and at low tide I sit in the mud a little and cant leave my slip. I cant get in and out of my marina unless the tide is at least half way up. Once in the river, no problem though, I just time my day trips accordingly.
@chasingbluedreams thank you soooooo much for your reply! I kinda knew what your answer would be in regards to finding a slip. Only problem with big boats is finding slips that aren't a long drive from home.
I just subscribed. Love the video - I look forward to being out there in 10 years too when I retire.
Thanks for subscribing and good luck to you.
Very nice video, looking forward to more. Scratch Bohdi’s ears❤

I'm outside of Richmond, the boat I'm looking at draft is 9 feet 8 inches, how far up the James can I get to moor it? I know it's a dumb question....

What's your fuel consumption?
It's hard to say exactly. Roughly 1/2 gallon an hour at 2000 rpms. We carry about 110 gallons.
The bay can really beat your ass. Grew up boating there and it can get nasty.
