Short term goal: ability to smoothly transition between chords. Medium term goal: sound like Jay. Long term goal: Sound like me, sounding like Jay. May never get there, but it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.

I love the phoofy sound of the tenor. It's like playing the the tune in a sub tone. I'm there.

Gentlemen, thank you so much for the sentiments behind your kind comments. I've had the privilege of growing up and playing with some of the best jazz musicians on the Planet, from the US, to Western Europe, and Latin America. One thing I've noticed about the true masters of their instruments is that they/you are the most helpful, open, and HUMBLE people you can find. I don't have a music degree to my name and am mostly self-taught. The jazz music community is universal, no matter where we travel. (And Jay is one of the truly "Nice Guys" in our business).

@@bettertrax5640 Geez, I was way off. The horn doesn't look shiny in the video. Which KB neck did you go with? Finally, I have a request. Would you be interested/willing to do "I Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry"? I'm sure you know the tune (Dexter Gordon). Based on your tone and style playing Georgia, I think it'd be an excellent tune for you to do.

Please tell me the BetterTrax will continue to expand and be available long term. I'm learning alto but bought a Tenor. I'm looking to play songs like this eventually. I'm not planning on playing in a band or performing publicly. Just using the sax as a forum of therapy and escaping the world while practicing and playing.

Totally inspiring rendition. I'm quite a beginner Bettersax member but opted to learn your solo by ear (I've obviously bitten off more than I can chew but still chewing). Didn't sound soulful at all on a 2.5 reed but sounded better on a 3.0 reed. Please tell - what reed strength did you use on this?
