    Last night millions of people... All from different backgrounds..different religions....different nationalities... Different skin colors...different sexual orientations ... Overall different beliefs came together on social media platforms ....all for the well-being of one man.. A race car driver..with one common goal..... Praying for his safety after a horrific on track incident many of us would t forget....
    And today he is getting treatment and recovery for his non life threatening injuries
    HOW COOL IS THAT!
    Now if we could all do that everyday imagine what this world would be like

      @@BobM.-to9ji yeah a lot of people do watch to see incident because things have gotten a LOT safer-- but the ONLY kind of wrecks I want to see are the ones where they climb right out of the car, have legitimately MINOR injuries and are able to rebuilding keep racing (and that's a bit of a stretch even for me) I've known a few people that have died in drag racing, one in particular in an Alcohol Dragster (A/Fuel to specific) sent up a 40+ foot fire ball AND killed her son sitting in the tow vehicle (car blew over and came full throttle towards the starting line, full speed w/ glancing blows off the walls and HEAD ON into the tow vehicle where her son was sitting and killed them both -- crew was at the line and started running towards the car THEN away and over walls, etc. as they saw header flames coming towards them....but that goes beyond spectactular and is just horrific

    That was horrific to see and at the time it totally took my attention away from who won as I was only focused on Newman's car as soon as it went airborne. My immediate reaction was jump up off the couch, stare at the tv hoping he was ok and tearing up remembering seeing Sr's crash. As more and more interviews were conducted, driver's attitudes and no mention of Ryan's condition, my tears turned into a full on cry as I was not ready to see another die at Daytona, but man am I relieved to hear of the at least for now non life threatening injuries! Thoughts and well wishes to all the family, crew, friends and fans of all who were involved!!!!!

      Sweet JR Ewing unless you have competed in a race car, you simply can not fully understand. There is no more feeling of being alive than being strapped into a race car and mixing it up wheel to wheel.
      It’s dangerous, it’s loud, it’s hot, it’s uncomfortable, and it’s the greatest thing in the entire world.

Teams I haven't worked on in 15 years, will see me at a race and invite you over and it's awesome. It's a beautiful thing when the racing Community comes together but I really don't like when it comes at the expense of someone's health or even worse they find out somebody won't die and completely quit following the story, meanwhile they're recovering for years or never fully recover -- and you don't hear enough about that and end up having to dig through articles/videos to try to find out that sort of stuff :-(

    The issue isnt the type of hit to that part of the cage. The cage can handle it. The issue is there isnt a cage design or material that can withstand two impacts. Had that car not have impacted its roof before hand, the cage wouldn't have buckled so much.

    NASCAR became proactive after Dale's death because it could have been prevented. Since the 90's there were safer helmets to wear and by 2001 most were using them. Dale tried but didn't like the full face the safer helmet system used. He liked his open face helmet so he could feel the pressure when another car was closing in on him. If he had on the safer helmet system he wouldn't have broke his neck. Since then NASCAR spends a ton of money on safety and thank God it shined tonight because seeing that 2nd hit in super slow motion and seeing the crunch on impact followed by seeing the whole car bend into a u and seeing the roll bar down just above shoulder height had me deeply concerned. Prayers to Ryan and his family. Peace

      This can be prevented as well. NASCAR and Daytona Speedway both know that the high banks / foot to the floor racing is dangerous, and that what happened to Ryan is in many ways not unusual and almost predictable. The banking in Daytona likely should be knocked down quite a bit to lower the overall speeds. Having to have restrictor plates and various other aero devices to slow the cars suggests that the track itself is the culprit here.

    However, it would be one of the greatest moments in the history of Sports if Hamlin and Gibbs and the team walked into that Hospital room this week and handed that Trophy to Newman.
    Yes I know that's asking a lot of course ! Its such an accomplishment to win that Race. BUT, it would be not only uplifting for the Sport but for the Country as a whole at a time where we are so divided.

Bad wrecks like this are a lot more common in other racing, and we're use to seeing these type events play out once or twice a year. Just because he'll survive doesn't guarentee walking. • @thedirtheretic2728
      @thedirtheretic2728 4 роки тому +1

      Do you realize a tapered spacer is a restrictor plate? It is a plate that goes from the throttle body down to .922 inch openings. Don’t let this lingo confuse you on what it is. The big difference is there is no longer a floor to create turbulence. By tapering a restrictor, you don’t lose as much power. The air doesn’t have as much stall and reversion. The main thing to take from this is that they are still mounting a plate between the throttle body and the manifold to restrict the air. Any other Motorsport calls this a restrictor. I use them for tuning on my sprint car as well.

    One more thing nascar, it aint rocket science. Strictor plates cause this holding wide open all day being tied together nose to tail hoping nobody gets stupid chop blocking til the end and just pray at end of 500miles of boring 200mph pace laps somebody dont die kinda racing. Heres a thought shrink cubic inches, lose the plates, cut rear spoiler to 3 inches, bring back bias ply tires and watch good racing return. I promise you if you force em to lift and use ample throttle up off turn. You got yourself a damn race. Because 40 drivers will lift some later some earlier 40 drivers pick up throttle at diff points and bias ply throws the wild card in it. I promise this, the stupid 30 cars tied together crap will go away and drivers will be busy driving and wont have a thought of blocking. There will be passing, getting passed or getting out of the way. Dont believe me. Just watch vintage 76 daytona 500 or 85 diehard 500 at dega. Any old fan knows what im shouting. Nascar quit being stupid. My hero #3 iron head is gone. Last night we bout lost flying ryan. Cmon france family it aint that hard

      I agree. Seems nascar would be ready to listen to fans seeing how attendence is way down, drivers forced to take less money and overall concensus is f$#! Nascar. I say to save our drivers lives fans should just stay away from gates at daytona and talledega as much as it pains me to say it. Because i grew up wanting to be a daytona 500 champ and win a 3 wide diehard 500 photo finish. Im 50 so my racing roots run deep. Eli gold and allan bestwick fired my need for speed sundays on mrn before tv ever showed. I remember sitn with dad in 79 watching 1st televised flag to flag daytona 500. Cale was my hero as a kid.. So that day solidified a love for stockcar racing forever. The 1st race i attended was 82 or 83 @ darlington and watched cale fight back all day only to lose to my next hero dale earnhardt. In them days we got in free if we wore our boy scout uniforms. So, no i dont nascar to die out. But i do think they can sh#tcan plate racing make the changes needed to race these giant arenas of speed and give drivers the ability to race the way it was meant to be. And the fans can force the issue to make it happen. Now whos with me. The france family dont own us and damn sure owe it to the sport,
