- In this weeks episode of Everyday Angler we take a trip up to the North Georgia mountains, when my plan to go and cross a shoal bass off of my bass slam list is ruined by high waters, I head to Unicoi Outfitters in Helen,GA to see what other places I can fish. We end up fly fishing for some trout in the mountains hitting some of the streams in the Chattahoochee National Forest, we fish small creeks that flow into the Chattahoochee River.
Thank you for watching everybody and stay tuned every week for another episode of Everyday Angler! Don't forget to LIKE,SHARE and SUBSCRIBE!

I just stumbled across your video.
Smith creek is a mess doto the stocking trucks only dumping fish right where the gaggle of locals where you referred to.
Lower smith the DH section is similar.
But there is a lot of water up there that has fish.
Good job on scratching up a few fish.
I agree with everything you said about crowd fishing.
Rather catch a few by myself then fill the bucket shoulder to shoulder.
Nice video man! In the exact spot you saw people shoulder to shoulder....I had a country boy run up directly behind me on the bank after seeing me catch 2 trout back to back. In a frenzy trying to cast over my shoulder he casts a double treble hook rebel crawfish on my head, with hooks actually entangling in the trucker mesh of the hat. I was so stunned I could barely speak.
Yeah this is why I avoid those places like the plague lol 😂
I would have beat the living you know what out of him 😂
That area looks so beautiful I would love to fish there awesome video 📸
It is a beautiful area! Thanks for watching!
Nice fish Juli.!!
I'm glad you found some fish away from the crowds.
I do not feel bad for anyone who doesn't have the proper license. Managing the streams and fish population costs money.
This is true. People need to be better informed on regulations.
Hey y'all I kinda went on a rant. But alot of it's true to an extent. I've got the proper license and such, but that doesn't add any access. I've got no problem with the private property owners either. But there are a few that need an attitude adjustment. I've heard " Get a place of your own on the river" in a snotty tone. I wish I could buy the one next door. I'd open access to the fishermen and "not" be so full of myself. If you found me offensive I apologize. It's just frustrating. I do my part as far as clean up goes. Not only mine but I'll pick up a couple Walmart bags full of left behind refuse. I know that's a drop in the bucket but hey why not. Keep on tying 'em and frying 'em...
100% Licenses are easy to buy online, or on the app., plus there are walmart stores literally everywhere....
One reason people hate on the way you handle trout is probably because you don’t wet your hands. Doesn’t really bother me when people it with stocked trout but when it is native fish you really need make sure you wet your hands
I get it. Just funny when people try to "inform" when there is people keeping fish shoulder to shoulder way upstream lol 🤣
What sun glasses are those. Great video. I just fished Smith creek on Monday.
They are Costa Green!
I've fished there once a long time ago but the amount of tubers was insane lol
Luckily I didn't run into any tubers on this trip. i was a ways out from the main little town though..
Good fishing
Thanks 👍
Never tried a jig for trout before 👍🏼
You should, just let it tick the bottom.
So I’m trying to find regulations for Georgia trout and Google keeps telling me 22 inches for rainbows and browns and 18 inches for brooks but idk if that’s only in waters creek or statewide. I’ve also heard there is no size limit so I’m quite confused
Definitely not state wide, put and take fisheries are usually no size limit and can keep up to 7. But you should follow the regulations of each stream when you fish it.
Hey you're only supposed to trout fish with me!
Used squirmies the whole time...doesn't count.
Nice video, what streams were those?
I really don't know the names but there were in the national forest!
Thanks
exact location?
C'mon you know I can't do that! haha
Not alot of public access you say...but if you read any promotional materials they'll talk about over 3000 and sometimes even profess 4500 miles of trout waters. Bullshit y'all,if there's cold enough water to keep a trout wet, it's as trout waters leaning towards fishing. That's alot of miles of trout streams, creeks, tributaries, flows, whatever you want to call it. That's enough "streams" to reach ,oh say, California.
Are you saying that there is a lot of public access? Or that the state claims more trout streams than there is in the park?
I don't think he knows what he's saying. Trolling, I suspect.
@@davidmehaffey727 not sure if trolling or just didn't proof lol
Hey Dave, it's entirely possible that I am misunderstood by my comment so I'll try to clarify. There isn't as much access to trout streams,to the general public, as stated in various publications out there. Yes,viable waters do exist,in far greater amounts than I've experienced. Lots of private property borders the banks of said waters. This effectively puts these waters out of reach to the general public. I'm not cutting down the landowners or trying to interpret the rules, regulations, laws or desires of the owners as to access. Navigable waters, not for me to decide. Wading in the river bottom, who "owns" it, higher authorities decide that. I get my license and trout added to it every year, have been for 48 years. I get the land passes needed, Corps of Engineers passes etc. I've made it a personal goal to always pack a bag of trash out of wherever I've fished that day, sometimes 2 or 3 places. Trespassing is out of the question, not gonna do it out of respect for the owners, and the law. Guides have access to waters I don't. I do not have a problem with that. An agreement with owners of these stretches is part of their business, so no complaints there either. Maybe it was interpreted incorrectly what I replied, I can see that. Long story short, I'll give it another shot. Gee, I wish there were more trout waters accessable to enjoy in North Georgia.
I live in Iowa which has 2nd to the least amount of public land in the lower 48. Nearly all the trout streams in NE Iowa are on private land with easement given for fishing by the landowner. One good thing about GA is there is a lot more public land than here. The majority of these IA streams are owned by farmers. Some really good spring creeks due to karst topography. Good luck and tight lines.
