My wife's AR is very similar in that weight was the main consideration when putting it together. Only thing I would suggest is a 13.9 upper with P/W muzzle device so that you still have a legal rifle with less weight out front.
I believe recoil was her main concern ofc weight being a very close secondary. Shes really comfortable with how its setup but if i can make it easier for her to shoot id do anything thx for the tip
Guess I'm the only man who lets his wife run with good ole WW2 Bolt Action Rifles then. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 She does have a Saiga Izhmash AK47 762x39 Sporter too as another backup.
@@Excalibur01 No problem! It's always good to let your significant other experiment and try all firearms. This way if your modern firearm ever *jams/broke* then you can always count on bolt actions. Hey bro a few questions, are you a self taught gunsmith what made you get into firearms as far as building them, also how long would it take for someone who wanted to start. What state are you located in?
Yea im self taught, it doesnt take an engineer to put together an AR-15, although people in the comments can make it seem like it sometimes haha. I think building them is just fun and kills some time, you can learn to put together a whole AR on youtube in under an hour putting it together for the first time can be a bit annoying tho since you mightve missed a part or 2. At the end of the day its an easy hobby to get into. I move around Ive built guns in Texas, Missouri, Georgia, and Maryland and who knows where else ill end up
@@vietnamtactical what got you started any military experience? What videos or channels would you recommend for someone starting to get into gunsmithing and building AR and handguns?
Any youtube channel will do as long as they give you all the parts you need and info on how to assemble it. Yes im currently active duty military but i started when i was 18 i always liked guns since i was in elementary school
Love the build! I got my wife a DDM4A1 and she loves it! The lightweight thought definitely helps because yes they don’t want to carry around heavy guns! Btw where do you source your parts from?
Fore a lightweight build. Inrangetv would recommend a kp15 polymer if you run 16", otherwise use a pistol pencil barrel and a short handguard with a arm brace Then stick on a pistol red dot for ultimate weight saving
looks like the grip is too far forward for her. another neat way to reduce recoil and weight is get a lighter buffer, and bcg, and close the gas port with an adjustable gas block.
Id say a great company that everyone can agree to be the best intermediate AR manufacturers is BCM and Springfield Armorys Saint line of rifles. Colt M4 is relatively mid range as well. I’d still pick BCM over those tho

She isnt that weak haha, i cant trust a polymer lower either, PSR demonstrated their failure point being where the buffer spring and weight sit.

That handguard is 12 inch?
I believe it is 15”
Did you put an adjustable gas block on it? It seems crazy light on the recoil for what it is
No this config doesnt have an adjustable gas block
Awesome, what you think of Wise ar ?
Wise is still okay for the price but its definitely something you should upgrade
@vietnamtactical what upgrades would you do on it ?
@907arcticrc6 just a good red dot would suffice but if youre able to i would buy a BCM rifle theyre much better quality
Sorry if i missed you saying it but what barrel length did you go with?
16” keep all the legalities out of it
Surprised you did the regular Radian Raptor and not the Raptor-LT to shave off a few more ounces.

Why isnt it shorter like a 12.5 or sum is it becuase of the gas tube length?
probably because it has more recoil and more concussion with a muzzle break
