    Can someone explain why Colbert's questions to Tulsi Gabbard were word-for-word recitations of military complex propaganda?

    • @devilmaycare5311
      @devilmaycare5311 5 років тому +5

      Well if you were someone accumulating evidence about when media figures advocate for foreign military interventionism, this episode of Colbert Show would be another example. Notice the common thread is NOT left/right, it is pro-war vs. anti-war or pro/anti foreign interventionism. Trump gets called a racist puppet of Putin and progressive anti-war candidates like Tulsi are painted as uncaring about war crimes committed by Assad.
      One point of disagreement with Tulsi is whether the chemical weapons attacks are a hoax or not. The White Helmets are NOT neutral and could likely be fabricating it. Reminder that BOTH Iraq wars 1 & 2 were based on hoaxes; Kuwaiti babies killed in incubators and lies of collaboration gained from torture with missing WMDs. These hoaxes led to the Iraq wars that killed tens of thousands of U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians. Now the so-called chemical weapons attacks are used to justify invasion of Syria. Not buying it myself. Tulsi may be trying to avoid seeming paranoid, but it seems when it comes to hoaxes used to start wars she may have a case of amnesia.

      @@devilmaycare5311Tulsi mentioned the WMD hoax in her CNN interview and if I remember correctly she also did not categorically agree to the chemical attack allegation on Assad and instead said that if investigations prove so then he should be tried accordingly. She handled the question a bit differently here.

      For starters, you should be suspicious when the line of questioning leads towards less nuance rather than more. Notice how Tulsi is constantly fighting to express the nuance of her Syria views while Colbert is subtly attempting to make them more black and white.
      Then look at which side of black-and-white he leans on.
      And the last guilt-by-association question is just total bullshit.

I love her stance on foreign policy but there's no way she would win the presidency. A vote for her will be a vote for Trump. America wouldn't elect a member of Camp David or Scientology anymore than it would someone who's part of the SIL. Bernie needs to parrot her foreign policy beliefs because clearly she's correct and her foreign policy views are popular on both sides but Republicans especially would never support someone in a cult with directions from their leader to insert themselves into governments around the world.
      You can see, she went on Tucker and he was all supportive of her- as if he doesn't know about the cult stuff. So, all these republicans on the thread of course are supportive of her too cause the Fox News hosts told them to be. Fox is terrified of Bernie because he is the most popular in the polls so they're trying to split the progressive vote by acting like they support Tulsi and Yang (who isn't progressive but people say so). Then when Tulsi beats Bernie cause progressives split the vote, it will be non-stop 24 hr "Fox breaking news" reports on Tulsi's continued ties to the cult. There's enough info to give them a new story a day. So of course CNN and MSNBC will talk non-stop about Fox attacking Tulsi for her cult affiliation, Trump attacking Tulsi for her cult affiliation and in doing so giving their viewers more info about her ties to this right winged cult. Tulsi would absolutely lose. She would be done; MSM will destroy her like they did Hilary. Splitting the progressive vote will get Trump re-elected. A vote for Tulsi will be a vote for Trump. That's just the reality- I'm very, very liberal- and the more I learned about the cult and her ties to it, it creeped me out. Bernie2020

      The best way to destroy ridiculous ideas is by asking ridiculous questions. Of course Stephen isn't equating her with Duke, but by letting her address the notion and shoot it down, he's lending her his platform to put these ridiculous ideas away. I was shocked by her taking about not involved in Syria, but she made a good point about intervention. But then Stephen made a good point about China and Russia would fill the void if we leave. Her answer there was less satisfactory. Only doing good isn't going to cut it. Sometimes the world is messy, you must be willing to accept that there isn't a good solution but only a necessary one.

      Ryan S Tulsi's creepy right wing cult affiliation though would be a problem if she won the primaries.
#Bernie2020

Absurd on the surface...Tulsi is that extremely rare politician that goes up against the war machine...and gets smeared for it by the MSM...CNN, MSNBS, The New York Times, etc. did all they could to spread misinformation about her.
