This was better than a professional. I own the exact same model and color. You helped me tremendously and now I have the confidence to make this repair myself because just yesterday my wife complained of the tail gate not staying open. Good stuff and thanks.

Just curious if you think replacing these struts will correct the following issue on my 2011 Ford Edge Limited: So what is happening is when I try to open my lift gate (button on lift gate or remote) it may go up part ways and stop and then close by itself. On the next one it may go up halfway and stop and close. Sometimes fit may make it all the way and sometimes it will just barely begin and stop and close. I found I have to manually assist it once it gets started but I feel I’m making the motor work too hard. Obviously replacing the struts as a troubleshooting step is the cheapest but it would be nice to get a second opinion.

what is the part number or even name of part for the powered lift assist strut. The part that is actually opening the lift gate. I recently destroyed mine manually closing the lift gate and I need to replace it. the plastic fastener on the powered strut broke off on the inside of the paneling. I have a 2009 Lincoln MKX however they should share similar if not exactly the same parts.

Hello, did you ever have any issues with your backup cameras? I have a 2011 and I'm looking for a DIY video.

Sorry I have never had a back up camera failure. If I ever do I will surely make the video for the repair. However if you go to MACTFORDEDGE on Facebook we have several members that have performed this repair successfully and they would be more than happy to help you do this repair and save a lot of money doing it. facebook.com/groups/MACTFORDEDGE/
