An idea that I’ve had is to inset the rim joist 1.5” to 2”, so that a layer of rigid foam can be placed external to it, which would then get covered up by the sheathing. The walls above the rim joist would project outwards by that amount, so that the sheathing is in the proper plane to connect to the sill plate. The rim joist would then pretty much be within the conditioned space. Any thoughts on that?
Steve, you said you called out blocking between the tri-force floor trusses? Can't that be a strongback spanning mutiple trusses? If not, what would be the details of attaching the blocking to the trusses? Thanks for the details✌️
Floor trusses are such a blessing. No expensive and ecologically problematic slow-growth large section hardwood timbers, and no chemically and humidity questionable reconstituted shredded timber. All solid clean natural timber, but the small dimensions of cheap renewable plantation timber - and it spans further and better than the old hardwoods anyway!
When the trusses for the upper floor are supported on a wall that has openings in it, can you use floor trusses that are designed to be supported from their top chord, and then instead of the traditional lintel or rim beam, have a truss in that space above the openings and below the floor truss top chords, to carry the load of floor trusses over openings?

Yes I have done that, In my videos of the "Passive House 11" you will see we did just that.

Agreed, and these are finger jointed members using even less lumber. Many of the subs appreciate the "no metal plates" used by this manufacturer
Why a double band rim joist? Don't the fancy, expensive floor trusses provide compressive strength enough?

Yes, I have done homes where the truss manufacturer made ALL the headers
