Hello Steve. Thank you so much for all of the education and the details. Have you ever done any videos on how you do pricing for projects you design? I would really appreciate more information on that subject if you are willing to share.
It would be really cool if you would build a house with the least expensive ways to build instead of the most expensive. There is a housing shortage. Why not try to help alleviate the problem instead of promoting the most expensive ways to build. Everyone knows you are an Architect. You really do not need to announce it with most of your youtube videos.
Let me ask you a very serious question - which is a better scenario, A lesser expensive home that no one will care about or keep up, and will meet it's demise before the end of the 30 yr mortgage? OR........a better built home that people care about, and will last at least their lifetime? Every time I double a lifespan, I halve the resource cost......so which question/answer do you subscribe to?
There's no money to be made as an architect for tract homes, it's just a couple of plans, copy/paste. He's under no obligation to fix the housing shortage. Why don't you fix it?
Don't feed the trolls Steve- it's really easy to sit in the cheap seats and take pot shots at people actually building things. If this person is so concerned with affordable housing, what exactly are they doing to actually create it? You know what's the most unaffordable housing of all? Housing that doesn't exist.
@@Ninjump Second most unaffordable housing is cheap housing that falls apart before it's paid for. The problem is that the FIRST buyer has to pay for the stuff that will still be used by the 5th buyer 70 years down the road.
The glue joints look so much stronger than the normal pressed tie plates. First time I've seen those! Thanks for the video Steve!
Great video Steve, one question, how do you fire stop between the trusses with the open web, is the drywall sufficient
The code requires a division of a max of 1200 sq ft. Easily solved with lining one side of a truss with 1/2" plywood

Very informative, thanks!!
Hi Steve, we're contemplating a reno project out on cape cod, any way to have you get involved in that project? Thanks
Why do you specify trimmable? Is span dimension not known or to allow for stack up of tolerances?
