fantastic! I am an old man and love walking but can't deal with packs on my back. looked at those hands free carts but they are very expensive, so I am trying to convert a shopping cart, your work here really helps, thank you so much!
The carts used to haul golf bags around make a good starting point for a hiking trailer. They're light and available cheap at thrift stores. Simply reverse how they face and find a way to connect them.
Thank you🙏 well done. I was on a backpacking tour last month for a few days. And I'm 55 years old and my backpack was about 14 Kilos. I had pain in every single muscle and bone. Now I looked for a trailer, shocked about the prices 🥺. And now your video...what can I say? My husband has a challenge tomorrow 😎. Happy times with Mother Nature for you and everyone. Thanks from Germany 🌻
Thank you... finally someone who has made 1 using what the layman can get their hands on and no fancy machinery needed. I am looking to make myself 1 as a bit of a project. I suspect I will use your idea as the foundation of my design. Thank you for the different perspective.
This is terrific. 1) I have been thinking about a cart for a couple of months. I have googled "pull carts backpacking" several times and came up with nothing like this. 2) I'm getting old (68+) and if I want to take my wife backpacking she simply can't handle anything more than a very light day pack. 3) I had an idea of how to make one, but I was not sure how a single wheel might work instead of a two wheel cart. My concern was balancing a single wheel vs. the advantage of two wheels. 4) I tend to take more gear because I like to make things pleasant and comfortable. And we live in very mountainous and heavily wooded country. I tend to want to go off trail, so you understand the difficulties of traversing mountain terrain and dead fall and rocks. 5) I want to pull the cart rather than push. 6) Center of gravity and keeping the weight as low as possible are paramount. 7) Seeing your choice of building material was clever and gave me confidence to forge ahead and try it for myself. Thank you for this video and sharing you great ideas.
This is good. Also when you got the cargo deck on front and back of the wheel, you can laod it so that it is not hanging heavy on your hips. The wheels funcitons as a weight distributor.
Great job. Not that I ever will, but one could make the weight holding green wood square and the pulling poles detachable (for example, the poles could screw off). Then they could serve as a small table and tent/tarp supporting poles if the trailer was used for hikes with overnight camping.
A very good hiking idea. 1 suggestion-use metal tubing (aluminum or galvanized EMT) for your pulling handles. You can bend the ends down a bit. That should help you control the cart better, and I suspect your working load limit will increase as well. I think excess capacity is better for unexpected situations. Again, a very nice and useful looking machine. :-)
Joo, hieno laite suht tasaisille treileille, Ilmat muuta "thumps up", mutta niitä on tietty satoja huonompiakin. Täytyis aina käydä tiedustelemassa etukäteen. Mutta hyvä video!
+Helsinkipop Juu ei, kiitokset kommentista! Tämän trailerin tarkoitus on toimia mökkikuljettimena tarpeen vaatiessa, mutta jos joku haluaa tallustella tasaisia polkuja, poikkeamatta metsään, niin tässäpä aluketta omaan projektiin.

Thank you for your comment! I agree, the broom sticks work pretty well, but the metal bars you suggested would be a bit more sophisticated.
Know it’s 7 years, but well done
