Mr. Richardson has lit some of the most influential movies in history, much respect to him and his craft. I love his take on camera monitors and eyepiece.
He truly become fearless after that war documentary. He keeps on pushing the envelope of his creativity. Thank you for dropping this gem, indeed inspirational.
He definitely has a great eye for cinema, watching these videos and learning from the greats really gives me inspiration to one day become a filmmaker whether it be a director or a cinematographer, even would love to do a course in screenwriting.
Comments like these inspire me to become a filmmaker. Sometimes i think my dream is too far fetched or silly so im glad to hear there's others with the same dreams.
@@zachj2728 Oh thank you for that, much appreciated, my family told me that becoming filmmaker is very hard to get into and to try and be more realistic as I have learning disabilities and OCD and other mental and physical issues but I've always loved the behind the scenes on learning how how they make a film even though it's quite technical and complicated it just always gets me so interested and inspires me to one day do a course in cinematography or screenwriting with a helper that helps people with learning disabilities.
Damn... Laszlo, Vilmos and Chapman were my top list. That was until you guys made me realise its actually Robert Richardson who was/is consistently at the top of his game. Imagine a Kubrick/Richardson film...
It's been a while since I commented, but I have a suggestion: "Motifs and Motives - Michael Bay and Canines" (trust me, they come up a lot in his filmography).

Robert Richardson. One of the Best Director of Photography in Cinema. Precision, Composition, Eyepiece, How to Create a World on Cinematography, the Lesson from Robert Richardson. Collaboration with Passion with Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino who are the Three Musketeers in Cinema.
9:50 Scene: Hans turns out to be fluent in Italian; Hans is doubtful on how the Americans pronounce their cover Italian names; Hans congrats Dominic for saying his name right; Plus the gesture Antonio makes when saying his name... Good design in many aspects.
Hi, I want to ask, how big impact has cinematographer on the final film, is he deciding whichc camera movements will there be, is he deciding colours of the clothing of the protagonist, or is he just focused on lighining? Where the work of director ends and where work of director of photography starts?
On set, the work of the director and cinematographer is done together to create the shot. That would be everything from the lighting, moving the camera, lens choice, etc. The director is providing the vision on what the shot/scene is, and the cinematographer is making it happen.
Can you please tell me the link or name of the video where I can hear his whole story, interview. Im thinking about the one where his voice sonds like he's talking on a telephone?
8 month ago you was maked video camera movement the ultimate guide that video was very simple to learn I understand what you saying about camera movement but now you making video hard to learn because we can't understand what you teaching about in this video please make easily video like that camera movement video because my English is very weak I will trying to understand just video watching
We appreciate the feedback! The guides are our own script so they're designed to be easy to understand, but these vids we're using what other filmmakers said in interviews so it might be less clear at times
Please also explore cinema of Satyajit Ray, bimol Roy, Ritwik Ghatak, and many more of Indian cinema hats off to other work in depth you have done till now
The people who leave comments like "Can you do a video about (enter name here)" yet say next to nothing about the video they leave the comment on are not really watching or understanding what is being said or shown in the video.. that's the unfortunate side of the internet.

Does the DP design the lighting scheme or is it the gaffer

Unpopular opinion: Bob Richardson is better than Roger Deakins
Oh yeah :)
Why do you always have to compare? What is the point of it ... they are both masters of their craft.
