This is an excellent lighting tutorial. Your passion and knowledge comes through loud and clear. Please do more "Light like...(famous DP)" or "Shoot Like..." video tutorials. I could binge watch them all day long and I can see them becoming a major resource for filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers . Big gracias, Scriptfella.
My father was a DP in Hollywood. He worked extensively with now-Robert Richardson during Mr. Richardson's early career. I loved watching Bob's cinematography growing up, especially his work on Shutter Island. I remember writing a series of blog posts in an IB drama course about his work. My drama teacher was impressed! I credit Bob with my high grades for that course.
learned a lot. i am a late blooming filmmaker with a youtube channel focused on mindfulness and healing, but a lot goes into my little movies so all you presented gave me much thank you!
I get what you’re saying but in JFK especially I really liked it. Especially when it was on Costner or some of the witnesses, to me it felt like stone and Richardson were showing how these people were the ‘shining’ beacon of hope in the JFK case. Just my 2 cents though, great video
Is that brick texture something you put together from faux-panels available at Home Depot? We've been looking to build something like that at work. Great video!

RR has gotten a lot more balanced in recent years. That blasting top light always used to drive me crazy when he shot for Oliver Stone.
You're so right. It always makes me think of the early 90s :)

Thanks! It was actually an existing prop in the studio.
Talk about how he used natural light in Kill Bill volume 2 for the desert scenes. There's even a night scene at a desert.
can you explain about light meter and how to use the light meter in video?
whats the model IG
He needs to work with Oliver Stone again.
i just use a desk lamp with a GE 60 watt standard bulb.................
