My father was a DP in Hollywood. He worked extensively with now-Robert Richardson during Mr. Richardson's early career. I loved watching Bob's cinematography growing up, especially his work on Shutter Island. I remember writing a series of blog posts in an IB drama course about his work. My drama teacher was impressed! I credit Bob with my high grades for that course.
This is an excellent lighting tutorial. Your passion and knowledge comes through loud and clear. Please do more "Light like...(famous DP)" or "Shoot Like..." video tutorials. I could binge watch them all day long and I can see them becoming a major resource for filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers . Big gracias, Scriptfella.
Nice!
Thanks for the walk through. I got some good ideas on bounce and back light. Very informative!

@@Crimsonengine i will for sure. It helps me think 'outside the box' when I'm planning my lighting structure.
Talk about how he used natural light in Kill Bill volume 2 for the desert scenes. There's even a night scene at a desert.
Fantastic video man! I’d love to see a vid about how lighting changes when filming black and white. Thanks :) subbed
thank mate !!
RR has gotten a lot more balanced in recent years. That blasting top light always used to drive me crazy when he shot for Oliver Stone.
I get what you’re saying but in JFK especially I really liked it. Especially when it was on Costner or some of the witnesses, to me it felt like stone and Richardson were showing how these people were the ‘shining’ beacon of hope in the JFK case. Just my 2 cents though, great video
can you explain about light meter and how to use the light meter in video?
Is that brick texture something you put together from faux-panels available at Home Depot? We've been looking to build something like that at work. Great video!
whats the model IG
i just use a desk lamp with a GE 60 watt standard bulb.................
He needs to work with Oliver Stone again.
Thanks for this video! Love these lighting videos! It’s always helpful to see different perspectives on lighting.
