      Given how everything that gets deleted is really only marked to be overwritten, I wonder if barriers might crop up where save data for new games and files are stored. What if it’s the same game, but a new play through? The condemned peer through the edge of their dying world and spy not some new frontier, but the very world they once knew? Is there hope to break through to the other side? What would we see?

      was literally thinking the same thing, and getting hyped for hoot to possibly make some sort of series about what happens when you uninstall stuff. Cause funny thing is the files arent actually 'removed', they are marked to be re-writable again. Meaning all sorts of tragedy and corruption and conflict can arise from that if we assume NPCs can be sentient. Something inscryption touches on but this clearly is another angle.

    How did you make that void voice?

    • @Hoot
      @Hoot  2 роки тому +931

      It's a little audio trick, if I remember the steps in correct order, something like this:
      Record a voice line -> Reverse it -> Apply a big, long-lasting reverb effect -> Reverse it again.
      Then some redux / erosion into all the voice layers to make it sound like the skeleton's voice has deteriorated and "pixelated" over time 👍

Maybe if you find some more people you could even make a group project out of polishing up an old tomb from the game and storing the comatose NPCs there.

    When you think about it, the guard from the first part said that the gamerules don't apply in the world anymore, and so, no one can die.
    With the skeleton, we can understand that the fact that they can't die is horrible. Because they're mind is immortal, but not the body. The corpse is dead, but not the person itself. What a truly horrifying fate worse than death.

    • @Tom--pf8ub

      I took it to mean the skeleton was an NPC who died and hadn't respawned before the deletion. Most SFM animations with all their buttery smooth movements and absolute control tend to feel robotic and uninteresting. Not to say people don't make fantastic stuff with it, it's just that it's different. I grew up with Kitty0706's videos, so I'm biased towards that style. I've been a fan of this idea since when the original Wreck-it Ralph came out and gave a peek behind the scene of what a game looks like, giving the idea of the characters all have lives and socalize behind the front of a game screen. As such the idea of deleting or unplugging a game sounds like such a neat horror topic in that setting that I haven't seen many display much of. I hope that maybe we can see this continued as the knight explores more of their world and discovers the horrors since happened in his slumber, a solemn prayer of finding out what happened pushing him on till the end. Same as well for your other videos, and hope you have a great day. I look forwards to catching what's next!
