- In this final video of the West Coast Road Trip Series, the Traveling Coffee Guy finds himself in Reno, Nevada checking out the amazingly affordable food that can be had at the Casino Restaurants. First, he heads over to the Top Deck Restaurant at the Cal-Neva Club to scarf down on some $13 dollar Steak and Lobster. The next morning he made his way to Original Mel's 50's Diner, The Home of American Graffiti at the Sands Casino. where he experienced their $11 Steak and Eggs!

I remember steak n eggs back in the 80s were 1.99 and .99 at some places, oh the good ole days, right, but still, I'd pay 10.99 if I get a lot! Let's see!

That steak at Top Deck is Grade C certified rubberized camel.
Camel is absolutely delicious.
The last time I was in Reno in 2005 I Did Not See Mel's Diner there at the Cal Neva he was at the Sands Regency Casino Hotel
Yes you are correct. Mel’s is still at the Sands.
Great video, great establishing shots, if you got some wired headphones/airpods they would for sure help out because of the mic when you record your videos
Thank you! I appreciate it. My newer stuff starting in Santorini, I started to use a Bluetooth lapel microphone..I think my audio quality got quite a bit better. The biggest problem is when I have to fight with background music so I don’t get copyright claimed.

Am coming to Reno for a visit. Hope to meet up with some people I know there. The Cal-Neva Lodge is near where I hope to be staying at. Not a lobster fan. Is Mel's Diner near where the Eldorado Hotel or Circus Circus is? Mel's is near the Sands. I know where that is. Didn't know about Mel's Diner then though. Thanks for the suggestions and this is an informative video.

Mel's diner is closed for good. The Sands has been totally remodeled and is now called "J Resort"

It seems like Top Deck's quality has gone down since Covid, but the Steak & Lobster is still one of their strongest menu items. At least now they're serving tall cans of Coors instead of Budweiser.
Hopefully their quality goes back up as we come out of this thing. But Reno needs a new set of casinos to rejuvenate that place.
@@TastingTravel I went in June with my girlfriend, and our hearts both fell when we saw the Little Nugget and Harrah's closed for business. I don't know if you've ever had an Awful Awful, but they'll be sorely missed by tourists and locals.
