Thanks for showing us Reno! I've been a regular visitor to Reno for the past 25 years or so. Thanks for not comparing it to Las Vegas. It's a totally different vibe which makes it one of my favorite places to visit.
I live in Reno, and you are right about downtown being undesirable. This city has potential that has never been met since they removed all the old-style casinos, which made this city unique. I do think you were generous in your assessment of Reno.
Unfortunately I agree. I live in Truckee. Reno is just dirty and methy. Just no charm left, whatsoever. Costco, Trader Joes, then right back to beautiful Cali. Really no need to visit. Just go to Tahoe.
California casinos killed reno. Back when I was a kid(20 yrs ago). I remembered it was lit!! Now it’s okay. It’s still my getaway though. Only 2 hrs away from me.🤷♂️😂
I drive from Sacramento because I bowl in Reno quite often. Its about a 2 1/2 hour drive. I enjoy the city when I come up. I always catch a Reno Aces game if they are in town, my wife and I always find new places to shop, see or eat. But because we go so often, we get free rooms at The Row. With Reno being a 45 minute drive to Tahoe its a great place to stay and drive over in the mornings.
I moved to Reno from Seattle after 50 years three years ago,I really enjoy it. There is some really nice old architecture homes within Reno, reminds me of some of areas by the University of Washington and some the old Seattle neighborhoods like Ballard I detest tearing down old and replacing with new no character houses.
Just stayed at Harrahs for 3 nights in South Tahoe. Loved it we had a 12 th floor Lake view room with 2 bathrooms! 238$ per night with Resort Fees and Taxes.
You made me want to check out Reno with my family! Vegas has gotten so expensive and extra crowded. Thank you for getting to the point. Some travel videos move too slowly.
I have followed you for years for your videos about cities in Asia I like to visit. I moved to Reno a few years ago- I think you have done a fantastic job of my current hometown and now trust your other videos 1000% because you got so much right about Reno.Reno is amazing. I learned things from you I didn't know- thank you! I hope you come back and do more videos here! We are quiet about what's great here. :)
As a lifelong Northern Nevada resident. I always have to watch Reno videos because some people absolutely give this area a bad wrap for simply being a "low budget Vegas". Props for doing a solid job. I'd say if you ever revise this to definitely highlight the Reno Aces as a thing to do if you come during baseball season. Its a nice, clean little stadium and the team always puts on a good watch. And also for anyone coming during the summer time make sure to check out all of the amazing events and festivals largely held in downtown Reno/Sparks. We have Hot August nights, Rib Fest, Chicken wing fest, Italian festival, Blues Brews and BBQ, Hot Air Balloon races, Street Vibes are just a few to name. Also if you come during summer Food Truck Fridays is one of the largest food truck events in the entire country down at Idlewild Park every friday through the summer. And lastly easy food recommendations. If you want to find a huge collective of great food the Midtown District offers a lot of options close to the action of downtown. And a personal recommendation - if you're looking for an upscale steakhouse experience, visit Peppermill's sister property Western Village in Sparks. Its Peppermill without the Peppermill price tag. Easily the most bang for your buck steakhouse in Reno.
Just moved to Las Vegas from Reno, I miss it. Really great place to live, work and play. The outdoors are really interconnected. There are so many parks and festivals. There is also the national air races, national hot air ballon races and so much more there. The Outlet at Legends is not names for the Casino, that casino is new, but it is themed after the Legends of Nevada, that's what a lot of the art there is about. The splash pound at Legends is a great spot for the kids too cool off too, it popped up in your video, but didn't look like anyone was there. Great Video! oh yeah, the bike path going past the National Automobile museum get's a little sketch because it passes under lots of bridges and through parks, but there a lot of homeless people living in some of those stretches, but it takes you all the way to Sparks, I love that trail.
I was born and raised in the Reno/Spark's and moved away in 2018. It is definitely a great place to visit! Soo much has changed. Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River are my favorite places to visit. Pyramid Lake is also quite spectacular.
Nice review of Reno/Tahoe area. Thank you for not bashing it like so many others do. My parents lived on the outskirts between Boomtown and Reno, really nice peaceful area. Their address was actually Reno, Nv. I’m going to GSR next week for three nights. I go for the gamble or a show, it’s more of an adult destination imo. Lake Tahoe has more families in summer and winter. I agree, don’t miss it, beautiful. One more thing I enjoy, Virginia City, old mining town. They have a tram taking you around town. Also, Carson City is the Capitol of Nv. I sound like I represent the visitors bureau, lol! Sue
I Love Reno !!! I have been going since 1988 and only missed last year because of the death of my father who introduced me to Reno him and my mom, I started taking my kids in 1994 and they too have been going every year and we love it!!!! My parents had a timeshare it was next door to the Comstock which was the first hotel Casino I stayed in when I drove from Chicago to Reno and I was in Love!!! I’ve be to Vegas many times but it is too crowded for me and the young people were having a great time but I rather the older crow, I do however miss the old Casinos, Old Reno ,Eddies fabulous 50’s, the Sundowners, The Riverboat, I miss going in the lucky Forest in Fitzgerald and recently the got rid of the awful awful burger with the basket of fries!!! My mom can no longer go do to her being unable to get around at 90 plus missing my dad but my son and his family and my daughter and her family will definitely be landing this year in Reno! We stay at the PepperMill me and my daughter family but my son loves the Silver Legacy, we stay 10 days and it the Best time of our Lives, I’ll miss my Mom and Dad but now we have the new group going and I’ll go until I’m no longer able to or here
Reno native. Think you did a great job going over our city. Our downtown is not par with other cities and needs many more businesses and things to do to make it thrive once again. Definitely add going to an Aces game next time. It's a great stadium and fun time for the whole family. Please do a Carson City video with a side trip to the wonderful Virginia City next time. Both are filled with history and charm.
No one likes the aces. Just transplants from California. We don't give a crap about balls. Locals wanted an indoor water park. Not a gaysball stadium...
Very informative and entertaining. I hope to get back there soon. Was there last in early 2000s. My buddy lives in Sparks, and used to be a craps dealer in the Atlantis.
Love this! 😀 The Jurassic Park car. I got a bit nostalgic there. And so much good food. It's funny that I actually just had mac and cheese today. 🧀 Very good. But I don't know about climbing that wall. Got a little dizzy just by looking at it. 😅Very nice place. Will you be visiting this again someday? Looks so much fun and so much to explore. 😊 Very great video!! 👍
Great video on Reno, although I would have also mentioned Virginia City, which is a great place to visit (although I might be a little biased since my great-great grandfather was one of the original founders of the town, and my great-grandmother was apparently one of the first children to be born there).
Grand Sierra has a $1 Billion project to build a 10,000 seat arena, Bellagio-Style Fountains Water Show, Aqua Golf and 800 additional rooms in the next 10+ years. The renderings look completely awesome!
Hi Chris. Great info and video on Reno. It's a nice alternative for those who prefer less hustle bustle and crowds of Vegas. Downtown does look really sketchy at night. Good thing they have the walkway between the 3 hotels so you can avoid a sticky situation. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Finally got footage of the DDR machine! This has inspired me to consider visiting Reno. We have a round 1 here, it's a really good arcade except they took out one of my favorite machine earlier this year.
Thanks for the video about Reno -my long -distance girlfriend recently moved to Reno from San Francisco, California and might soon move to Vegas-I live in Lawrence. Kansas but she and I have been writing to each other for 8 years-I’m waiting to hear from her so I’m going to be patient! 👍👍👍👍👍👩💥❤️
An excellent review and I learned a lot. I spent time at the Sands property but I guess it has been torn down. I hope you can do reviews of Truckee (the town), Placerville and Sacramento.
Great video Chris. We’ve been to Tahoe a lot but never ventured to Reno. Based on your excellent video it looks like Reno is worth a visit on our next trip to the US 👍🏻
You're wrong about drive times. Then again, I speed up 80...😂 You need to do the 395 drive. It's one of the most beautiful. When heading south, we often take a detour for a buffet or explore a Sierra pass to get to 395. Just make sure you fill gas before you get near Yosemite! 🤑🤑🤑
Well researched. I live in Reno for seven years. I'd describe the Eldorado as Godfather chic - Italian inspired. Both Silver Legacy and Eldorado were run by the Carano family, which includes people like the actress Gina Carano and the NFL player Glenn Carano. Eventually they bought the Circus Circus off of MGM - Circus Circus in both Vegas and Reno used to have the same owner. Fully agree with you on the sketchiness of downtown Reno. It's disappointing it's still sketchy six years later. I was actually robbed and assaulted by the Circus Circus Reno... It's a shame, because with the riverwalk and the walkability it -should- be nice, but it really is quiet and when it's not, it's an awful lot of desperate and potentially very violent junkies... My husband and I stayed three nights at the Atlantis Casino, NEVER AGAIN!!!! We both ended up getting bit by BED BUGS!! 🤬 I called many times to speak to management about it and NEVER once got a call back with an apology or nothing. we also never got our credits after using our Monarch reward cards for dining at their restaurants and going to the spa and gambling I feel like they treat their customers like garbage we will try the J Resort or Peppermill next time.
and if your walk you have to step over all the homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk.bin here 3 weeks ago where i also stayed in a greapy dirty hotel with screeming people at night on the street compleet lost on drugs !!😏
Things to do in Reno, shitty shopping malls comparing to your metropolitan city, shitty casinos with low quality shows or washed up bands, shitty bars lined up and down “the strip”, lack of public transportation, an actually pretty good automobile museum that isn’t worth a plane ticket however, and last but not least an actual good area to hike around but most locals don’t lol. You will go numb living in this dump
Reno is dead most of all the casinos are no longer open virginia street is dead, your not showing Reno in it's true form your not being honest that to me makes you a phoney

Glad you liked it! Reno is a cool place to visit.
I live in Reno, and you are right about downtown being undesirable. This city has potential that has never been met since they removed all the old-style casinos, which made this city unique. I do think you were generous in your assessment of Reno.
I saw homeless doing meth downtown Riverwalk.
The homeless population has gone up as the cost of rent has ballooned out of control.
Unfortunately I agree. I live in Truckee. Reno is just dirty and methy. Just no charm left, whatsoever. Costco, Trader Joes, then right back to beautiful Cali. Really no need to visit. Just go to Tahoe.

Downtown? You talk about the gaslighting gang gang members?
The one's with the same faces because they brave like that? No.. 🎩☕️
I drive from Sacramento because I bowl in Reno quite often. Its about a 2 1/2 hour drive. I enjoy the city when I come up. Can't beat free rooms 😀
No one cares about baseball. FYI locals wanted an indoor water park. Not a waste of space stadium that sits empty most of the time.
i live in the bay area so i know reno well. this is a good introduction to reno.
Thanks eyebeeback!
I moved to Reno from Seattle after 50 years three years ago,I really enjoy it.

Awesome job chris drop a like for you
Much appreciated
I went to Reno one in May, I like it and when I see your video, it make me love it more. Reno will be my retirement destination. ❤️
Wonderful!

Fantastic video, Chris! You always do a great job!
Thanks Jeannified!

What a cool video about my home❤ great details
Thanks! 😊
Pine State Biscuits just made it on my "must do" list! That looked so yummy! Thanks for sharing!!
It's really delicious! You'll like it!
Thanks and that was a great tour of Reno I’m going there for the first time in a few days and seeing what i need to cover.
Glad it was helpful!
All my childhood vacations were in Reno and Tahoe. My best memories were made there.
Perfect review and love Reno❤
Great video thanks
My next trip will be to las vegas in August
Reno looks like my entertainment style, museums, dining and nature. In a better climate than Vegas. Great overview of the region, Chris!😜👍🏾💛
Cool, thanks!
Reno also has a great coffee scene!!
mmm
wow this was a great and informative video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Good thing the yellow bike was available for you!
Grand Sierra has a $1 Billion project to build a 10,000 seat arena, Bellagio-Style Fountains Water Show, Aqua Golf and 800 additional rooms in the next 10+ years. The renderings look completely awesome!
Sweet!
In my opinion the fancy hotels in Reno (GSR, Peppermill, Atlantis) could honestly compete with some of the Vegas hotels.
You are kidding…right?
Hi Chris. Great info and video on Reno. It's a nice alternative for those who prefer less hustle bustle and crowds of Vegas. Downtown does look really sketchy at night. Good thing they have the walkway between the 3 hotels so you can avoid a sticky situation. Thanks for sharing and take care.

great video! thanks
Reno is my favorite home
I can’t believe the changes since I moved back east in 1985!
Awesome video!
Summers aren’t as hot as Vegas also 💯🤙🏽
Great Video, Thank You!
Great overview! Which hotel would be considered classic Reno in style and feel?
An excellent review and I learned a lot. I spent time at the Sands property but I guess it has been torn down. I hope you can do reviews of Truckee (the town), Placerville and Sacramento.
Not torn down. Was renovated as the J resort.
Thanks Brenda! Truckee and Sacramento are on the list eventually. I haven't been to Placerville yet. What's there to see?
Hey I noticed at 4:47 you talk about Reno Tahoe airport parking and the video you are showing Long Beach airport.
Hah. Probably snuck in there as I flew from Long Beach to Reno 😀
GSR is our favorite 🙌🏽
this city looks amazing, it's too bad i can't stay here for too long I would love to stay longer/maybe even live there hah
Well done!
Thanks John!
Great video Chris. We’ve been to Tahoe a lot but never ventured to Reno. Based on your excellent video it looks like Reno is worth a visit on our next trip to the US 👍🏻
Awesome! Thanks Anthony!
Next time you’re down here, they have a new Round 1 location in Plaza Bonita in Chula Vista!
Thanks for the update! I'll definitely check it out!
You're wrong about drive times. Then again, I speed up 80...😂
You need to do the 395 drive. It's one of the most beautiful. When heading south, we often take a detour for a buffet or explore a Sierra pass to get to 395. Just make sure you fill gas before you get near Yosemite! 🤑🤑🤑
Better that I tell people it takes longer and they're happy it's shorter than the other way around 😀
If you ever come back to Reno, should do hotel reviews on the premium 3 (GSR, Atlantis, Peppermill).
Thanks for the suggestion. I only had one night so it was the Rennaisance -- and I had an expiring Marriott credit card away stay. So free is always 👍
Chris. Have you done a video on Laughlin Nevada?
Not yet
what are the best local and cheapest casinos ?
What eventually happened to Harrahs, would be sad yet cool to see ?
Low income housing
They should build a mall like west Edmonton mall in reno .
You didn't go for the obvious joke: "Reno is so close to hell you can see Sparks!" 🤣
Hah
Jajaja
@@YellowProductionsis the mustang ranch in Sparks still open?
Reno has a great baseball stadium for Reno Aces.
How did i miss this???
I think the Rancho San Rafael park is outstanding, though... If for whatever reason you're back in Reno, it's super nice.
Thanks Dr for the extra background! Sorry to hear about what happened to you downtown. But thanks for sharing that valid point of caution
Reno is still lit
What a great video, but other than just a picture, you could’ve given a shout out to the club Cal Neva. it’s been open since 1962, no, it’s not the most modern casino, no it’s not the most beautiful casino, but it is about as “old school Reno” that you can get! “
Next time :)
Reno: so close to hell you can see Sparks
Hah
😍🤩💛💛💛
Would like to see you do another video with Josh (California Through My Lens).......
Thanks for the suggestion Mark!
Mid-Town is NOT the "commercial center" of Reno. Also we just had almost a month of temperatures over 100°F.
Is it cheaper to go to reno than vegas
Yes
💛
From hallelujah junction to Minden out to lovelock Wil be housing tracts strip malls and freeways as california moves in
I have travelled many miles before strictly to get the Reggie Deluxe
Tbh i throught the title said Las Vegas that’s why I clicked on ot
Hah
Can you read?
Reno a foodie city, hah!!😂
uhh, thats the Long Beach airport you showed.
I flew from Long Beach to Reno to shoot this video 😀

What!? No Golden Nugget? Do they still have the bbq cook off on Labor day weekend?
Golden Nugget was a victim of covid and is gone. Yes, Rib Cookoff is still going.
the biggest little city in the world
Due to California having lots of Indian gaming casinos, and after the pandemic, Reno Virginia Street is dead.
Why drive all that way from California when you have gambling in your own backyard now?
Reno is ghetto I love it lmao
silver legacy is not renos biggest hotel.....
Oof. Sounds awful. Thanks for the report!
Says lime scooters and shows footage of Bird lol
They're all the same. Point is a rental scooter. 😀
Only amateurs call it "Vegas" it's LAS VEGAS!! Always!!!
I know! I hate it when people say Vegas.😢
Japanese arcade??? What are you even talking about??? As well the Legends mall came long before the Legends casino. Dude, check your facts.
Nobody,
I mean Nobody,
Is going to Reno...
😆
Why
Next time don't zoom in when you eat ribs... Thanks
Stay at Cal Neva..and your daughter learn something about real life.
Vegas is better
Why
and if your walk you have to step over all the homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk.bin here 3 weeks ago where i also stayed in a greapy dirty hotel with screeming people at night on the street compleet lost on drugs !!😏

Not one mention that Reno sits in the middle of the biggest concentration of ski resorts in North America.
Lame!!!!!
I don't trust you! Anyone who eats ribs that way is untrustworthy!
210 lbs supermodel athletes
Reno now it's got the most impolite rudest people... they will make your life miserable.
This city is boring. I can't beieve this city is so emtpy after 7pm. Casinos here are so dirty especially Ramada Casino.
