- We tried a $71 New York Strip Steak at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Why is Ruth's Chris Steak House called that? The truth about the name Ruth's Chris is that the original owner named Chris opened his steakhouse in 1927. He eventually sold it to a woman named Ruth. But when that building burned down in 1976, she was not allowed to use the restaurant name at another location, so she named her new place "Ruth's Chris." It's now known as one of the best steakhouses in the world. Popular dishes on the menu include the Porterhouse Steak, the Tomahawk Steak, and the Chilled Seafood Tower. We ordered the Veal Osso Buco Ravioli ($19), Sizzling Crab Cakes ($29), Garlic Crusted Seabass ($50), Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($15), and Chocolate Sin Cake ($12).
This Ruth's Chris Steak House is located in Woodland Hills, California. Other nearby steakhouses include Larsen's Steakhouse, Morton's The Steakhouse, and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse.

Those are real crab cakes and not the things a lot of places try to pass off as crab cakes. The price is reasonable for the crab cakes they received. I'm from Maryland, and we have great crab cakes here.

im from va and i agree,, most crab cakes are made with the fishy mushy asian crab (called swimmer crab) but i call them “asian spotted crab”

My goodness guys, everything you ordered seemed upper tier to me. The sea bass looked amazing and surprisingly the New York strip was very juicy and tender. Usually I stay away from the strip because it's just simply not as tender as compared to a ribeye or filet, but I would definitely give that one a go. Of course the chocolate cake, well, the only thing better than chocolate is more chocolate. Catherine, you have exquisite taste when it comes to cocktails and mix drinks. Great video and yes, worth every penny.

My husband and I ate at the Ruth's Chris in Las Vegas, located in Harrah's Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. It was definitely a unique experience, including the unique floor to ceiling view of The Strip. The exclusive elevator access is also something you don't experience too often.
Ruth Chris steakhouse has phenomenal food and phenomenal service a little bit pricey but it is absolutely worth it. I totally 100% agree.❤

Not usually a fan of pricey restaurants, but on occasion, going to a place like this is worth it !!! The food looked incredible and generous portion also
Went there once. All that money for a steak and they still charge $7 dollars for a baked potato. They should be ashamed of themselves

I love Ruth's Chris, I used to eat at the one in Ft.Lauderdale when on Vacation there and the one outside of Cleveland before they closed it about 20yrs ago.
Love the T-Bone and Lobster Tails with the Football sized Bake Potato, Salad and then I would get a Bottle of Moet Champagne to Top it off.
I love Ruth Chris in Toronto, Canada. Totally worth the price for the quality of food. Highly recommend the bread pudding

Ruth's Chris has maintained a very high level of quality & service over many years in many locations. I ate there in Philadelphia the first time in 1986! The prices are commensurate with the quality!

A Ruth’s Chris meal is on my bucket list.
The wife and I just went to the Waikiki beach location and ordered the 40 oz tomahawk ribeye for 2 special. Think we'll do what you guys did here with the osso bucco raviolis and crab cakes when we go back next month.

Ruth's Chris is more about the experience than the food quality for me. Good steaks and sides but you can find better for less money. Great place for business dinners or to celebrate.
I now eat vicariously thru both of you thanks to insanely high food prices and a fixed income. It drives me nuts in a good way. Now back to my regularly scheduled dry noodle bowl. Maybe some good Thai food next time!

I love Ruth’s Chris. You should have tried their creamed spinach. It’s a revelation.
Creamed spinach is a great old classic. It’s not just a Ruth Chris thing, I’ve also had 30 years ago in great classic hotel restaurants in New York too. When it’s a good version, it’s a piece of heaven

Dudes all fully generous with that steak, it appears it was not medium enough for him. I’m glad the cook ignored his request and gave him close to medium rare. That meat was beautiful, I hope he ate that steak with his hands to make sure all the meat was eaten near the bones. 😅
I love a rare steak, but if someone asks for medium I think the chef should cook it as requested. That steak looked medium rare to me. Derek graciously bit the bullet and seemed to be convinced it was pretty tasty. I was surprised that cut was as tender as it apparently was. 🥩🍸🍸😋
@@ginawiggles918 Yeah, I was just kidding, he should get the steak 🥩 the way he ordered it. I have contemplated ordering my steak rare, but I’m afraid I won’t like it. Since I rarely finish my steak at the restaurant, medium rare suits me because I can warm it up to medium at home.

it's not always on the menu but you can ask for it, it's their oven roasted brussel spout's with bacon. I'm one that hates brussel sprouts, and this is the only place I will eat them.

If you loved that location, you should try the one in Vegas. It is magical with the strip view!! My husband loves the Cowboy Ribeye & I always get the Petite filet. Everything is so good there!

Just came from the Las Vegas restaurant, we loved everything!!!!!!! I mean everything!!!! The staff was sooo amazing and attentive so was the manager she was so friendly I highly recommend!!

Wonderful! About 6 years ago I was here for the tenderloin steak with my cousin. Wonderful steak. New York Streak is my go to steak. Glad to see they do a good job of it here. The seafood looks great!. They remodeled the place a few years ago. Will have to go back to see what they did to the place.

Any Vegas or other steakhouse always needs a great shrimp cocktail and a wedge blue cheese salad for sure.
Everything looks fantastic, I love sea bass. The apps were perfect. I'd definitely get the Ribeye on your next visit.
I have resisted eating the same meal at CR and the next meal always becomes my me new favourite meal. Truly the best of the best restaurant!
Once went there and had the ribeye which has been my best steak to date. My friend got the filet with bleu cheese crumbles on it and raved about it for quite some time. I got shrimp cocktail (nothing special), crab stuffed mushrooms (very good), steak house salad (nothing special), loaded baked potato (nothing special) and onion rings (bland almost tasteless). For dessert I had banana pudding and it was easily best I've ever had of that. The location nearest me has been closed so returning would be an issue but I would definitely go back and hope for better sides/appetizers.

My last chefs job before I walked out of the business was Ruth Chris Beverly Hills where I was the Exec Sous Chef. Funny thing is they don't cut the steaks in house. They come in cut already. But it is a great quality
That was the most delicious looking meal, and I was enjoying every bite with you and Catherine. N.Y strip is not my favorite ,but they did a fantastic job on that cut. Hopefully when y'all return the rib eye will be the next choice. The fish looked excellent and the mash potatoes did seem heavenly light. Thank you for more great videos

Derek, that steak is bloody rare. Should of gone with the cowboy steak which is the bone-in rib-eye. That is their best steak on the menu. Tell Catherine if she is going to a streak house to order steak. 😀😀

Wow so glad you had a wonderfully delicious meal. Last time we were at RC I couldn’t believe how dissatisfied we were.
Scallops were cold, ribeye subpar, Brussel sprouts side was like that grabbed it from the produce section and cut them in half - nothing else.
Not cooked. Best part of our meal was the Oysters Rockefeller!
Very disappointed.
Can’t say we’re going back to a RC anytime soon.

I have to live vicariously through these videos, because the days where I could splurge on a place that is THAT preposterously expensive are long gone for me and the missus....
I've gone to the one in Garden City, NY. Loved it. It's an experience.
Inflation has really done a number on a lot of people. I’m glad that I have been fortunate enough to manage through all this (so far) and still be able to go out and enjoy a few meals

Everything looks wonderful and you know how much I love your videos. My only complaint would be that Derek's steak! needs a bigger plate, we shouldn't have to struggle to cut your meat
