Thank you for this! These are the exact two I’m trying to decide between. I want so badly to like master books math but I share your feelings that it’s not quite as in-depth as Abeka
I am glad that you did a video on Abeka because their website doesn't show you samples of the inside of the book. Do you think kids with a learning struggle would be overwhelmed with ABEKA. I like that Math Lessons for Living Education because it was simple for my kid that struggles, but that is the only program I have used.
I have a child with learning disabilities and depending on what they struggle with Abeka could be overwhelming. We like Rod and staff it’s very thorough and works great for children that have difficulties. I don’t like math lessons for a living education I feel it is very behind.
Not a good comparison! One is a relational teaching of math. The other isn’t. One teaches that math is useful for LIFE. The other simply drills skill - nothing more.
@Tanisha Scott I agree this is not an apples with apples comparison. Both books have two completely different approaches to teaching math. MLFLE does well at making the basic's of math very concrete for children. Math can be very abstract and MLFLE is very hands-on and gives real world example's to really help children understand the why behind math. I do agree that it is very gentle by comparison to other curriculums who do a fantastic job of teaching the mechanics of math but less so the why. We use MLFLE as a supplement to the Life of Fred Math and The Learn Math Fast series. Like the reviewer I was unsure about MLFLE but my daughter loves it.

Thank you so much. Very helpful
Thanks for sharing. Do the Abeka books have a Teacher Book? Thanks.
@Lynn Corp Yes, ABEKA has a teacher lesson plan book with some scripted & daily lessons.
Is Abeka Arithmetic 1 difficult to teach? Is a teachers guide needed? And how long does it typically take to complete? Thanks so much!
Is there a text book to go with abeka? I dont see any instruction on those pages. How are they learning what to do.
There is a teacher's manual that goes with it
I personally love Abeka. Thank you for this video... exactly what I wanted to know.

Just wondering if you used the ABeka parent kit along with the workbooks, or if you just read the problems and went at them each day.
Pretty good comparison 👌
Holaaa! Me podrías decir cual prefieres si abeka, masterbooks o TGTB para currículum completo? Soy tu seguidora desde Perú ❤.
