    This is an amazing video for so many reasons. For me personally I think the best thing about this video is that it shows me exactly what needs to be included in a second hand mower when purchasing. Once I have the mower it will have a new best thing :D
    Thanks!

    Cub looks good. Instead of reversing the braw bar to mid mount grader blade. There is a straight bar that mounts to front holes on final drive. I was lucky enough to befriend an older gentleman.They called him Mr Farmall. He had worked 30 yrs in a International tractor dealer's shop. He knew of every model farmall tractor built. I also found removing rear wheel weights icreased the power of my 48 cub and mow like yours.

    Take pictures of the belt routing,and take notes for the twists if you can, before you remove your mower. On mine the directions is getting worn off from age and it's hard to read. Also take pictures of the mounting, to help when mounting it. I also drew a diagram of the belt routing ,with notes, and put it with manuals.

    Hey got a question for ya. I picked up a woods 59 c-2 mower for my cub not long ago. It didn’t come with casters. Looked in the manual and casters were an Option. In your opinion do you think casters are a must have or just a nice convince but not necessary? Thanks.

    Do you know where I can get replacement pulleys for the back of the tractor before the big pull that the belts go around

    Cub looks nice. It's great to have a little instructions on how to use the various attachments. Is there a post hole auger that a Cub will run?

  • @angelofbrz

    Was there a smaller belly mower for the cubs. I am going to get my grandfather’s 1952 cub up and running and for some reason mine looks smaller.

    • @DadsFarmalls
      @DadsFarmalls  4 роки тому +1

      The one in the video is a Woods 59. I also have a Woods 42 which is a smaller size belly mower for Cubs. The 42 has a single pulley in the middle of it that the belt goes around and then goes back to the mule drive.

    • @angelofbrz
      @angelofbrz 4 роки тому +1

      Dad's Farmalls thanks for the reply! That is what I have then the 42”. Cub was drained of all fluids and sat in a barn for a decade. It’s stuck but looks pretty good overall. Should be a fun project.

      @@angelofbrz I have a single blade 42" mower, but it's more of a "brush" mower than the multi blade deck. It has a single shaft that goes down to two horizontally stacked metal brackets that have swinging cutter heads on the end of each side of the bracket (sandwiching) the blades.

      @@DadsFarmalls I have the 42-inch mower you refer to. It is called the CL-2 and is mounted on my 1968 Cub Lo-Boy. Try as I might, I cannot get it to mow the whole lawn without the drive belt flying off at least twice. Get into a little tough mowing and those swinging blades start to clattering. Then it's just a few seconds until the belt goes flying off. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    • @joeschueler8587

    I bought a woods mower to install on a Super A farmall. everything fit Ok. However the drive pulley attaches to the place where the flat belt pulley was. and it now turns backwards. thats the only way the belt will stay on? Do I have a mower with the wrong spindles?

    • @DadsFarmalls
      @DadsFarmalls  3 роки тому +1

      Woods 59 mowers were made in two styles a regular 59 (like the one in my video), on that the blades turn to the right or clockwise, there was also a L59 the blades on that turn to the left or counter-clockwise. So my first thought is you have an L59. You could look at the blades to see which side has the cutting edge to make sure of which direction it's supposed to spin.

    I have a 1949 Cub and I just bough a Woods 42 mower. I was watching you put the mule drive on but I'm not sure how to do that with mine. Not sure where the plates attach to the tractor. Do you have photos to share for that? Thank you.

    • @DadsFarmalls
      @DadsFarmalls  3 роки тому +1

      Well I guess technically the plates don't attach to the tractor, the mule drive sits on top of the drawbar and is placed so that one hole is just forward of the drawbar plate (where the drawbar hooks in to the final drive) and one hole is just behind the drawbar plate. You then place the plate on the other side of the drawbar plate and run the bolts through so that it sandwiches everything together, mule drive, drawbar plate, plate. I hope thats as clear as mud, what I'm trying to say is the bolts don't actually go through the drawbar plate, they go directly in front of and behind the drawbar plate, only going through the mule drive and plate and the drawbar plate is sandwiched in the middle.

    • @clayzigler8277
      @clayzigler8277 3 роки тому

      @@DadsFarmalls Thanks. After looking at it for a long time I understood how to attach it. Fits well. Now, for the next question. I noticed I do not have a lift arm to attach to my deck. I have the hydraulics but nothing to attach it to the center of the deck. I'm not even sure what the part is called.

    • @DadsFarmalls
      @DadsFarmalls  3 роки тому

      @@clayzigler8277 According to the manuals - if you have either model 42C-4 or 42C-6 you are probably looking for one or all three of these parts - Bottom Lift Arm (Part 1533), Upper Lift Arm (Part 1441), Center Lift Arm (Part 1500). If you have the older version the 42C-3 then the manual calls for Lift Arm Assembly (Part 1499).

    • @DadsFarmalls
      @DadsFarmalls  3 роки тому +1

      @CLAY ZIGLER If you still have the pulley guard that goes over the back pulley it would have the serial number plate for the mower on it. Numbers 100-3200 is 42C-1, 3201-4930 is 42C-2, 4931-6260 is 42C-3, if its above 6261 then its a 42C-4 or later. Lots of these mowers don't have the pulley guard anymore so the serial number is gone with it, in that case if I was you I would probably be looking to get the three arms Bottom, Upper, Center (Part 1533, Part 1441, and Part 1500) as they are probably easier to find and most likely close enough to the 3 pieces that make up Lift Arm Assembly (Part 1499) on the older version that you could make it work. There again just my opinion.
