I love that Lisa picked up right away "it's like you're traveling to the Orient" - the album was written during/ after a tour in China. The song "Shanghai" on this album addresses it more directly, but the Asian influence is all over it. Why haven't you heard of them? They publish their own songs, own their own label, promote their own tours, and press their own records. They do the whole vertical integration - and even give away some of their music, free. Only non-commercial radio like KEXP features them probably because they're so antithetical to the whole corporate music "business."
Hey Shine! It’s Charles - I know for myself I had heard of them but never really took the time to delve into them and realize how varied their music is and how talented they all are! Love that I’ve been sucked in! Thanks for watching!!
this album is Butterfly 3000, and it all involved metamorphosis and change and embracing yourself and how change is good :) also this one is about weed
Alright, since you made 2 reactions to KGLW already, I want to welcome you to their rabbit hole! ❤ As your next step, I recommend checking out their progressive thrash metal song Dragon.🦎
Toadies? Love Toadies! Saw you in the 90’s in L.A. Welcome to the KGLW rabbit hole! Best band on the planet right now! You have a lot to go through. Their latest metal album, PetroDragonic Apocalypse, is worth a listen. Dragon or Gila Monster is a good start but every song great! Also check out their three Microtonal albums. Keep doing more King Gizz!
Hey Boltron, it’s Charles. Thanks for being a Toadies fan! You ain’t kidding about having a lot to go through! But it’s going to be exciting delving into it! We watched Dragon this week and it should post soon! Thanks for the positive comment!!
First of all, welcome to the Gizzverse. Secondly, find anything from the 'Ice Death Planets Lungs Mushrooms and Lava' album - there's a trippy AF video for Iron Lung and any version of Magma is brain-melting good
Which King Gizzard videos have you guys seen? I see the People Vultures video (and this one), but I'm curious as to what other ones. As for things people do when certain songs are played during live shows, I only know a few. With the song "Nuclear Fusion" the band gets somebody other than their lead guitarist (multi instrumentalist) Joey to do the opening line. Sometimes a buddy of theirs, sometimes an audience member. And with their song "The River" the audience does a "row pit", like a mosh pit, but instead of going crazy everyone pretends to row a boat in unison.
Here is a short clip of a live performance on YT: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland Live @ O2 Brixton. They have several full-length live shows available on YT. I'm glad you found these guys. If you two haven't checked out Tame Impala yet, the official video for "The Less I Know the Better" is funny as all. Great song, too.

they are coming to dallas but going to Houston and Austin in Nov 2024 on their North American tour. Can't miss those shows.
November seems so far away. We are going to find a way to get to at least one show.
I didn’t see a Dallas date? I have a pit ticket to the Austin marathon show and can’t wait to see them again

Thanks for the suggestion! Seeing Iron Lung suggested quite a bit so we will have to check it out!

Hey BigVoid! It’s Charles. We are so glad we found them too! We did just react to that Tame Impala video this week so keep an eye out for it!
Thanks for the reply, Charles. Loving your reactions and your stories!
During the song the river. The pit sits down and rows a boat🤷🏾♂️
I've seen them 4 times, but not yet one performance of The River. Emphasis on the yet
Now watch Dragon from them.
