And I don’t know if anyone else has said it, but Stu (lead singer) does all the mixing on their KEXP sessions. He’s an alien Edit: just got to the end of the video lol, Stu!
Iron Lung and Magma live on KEXP are some of the best examples of Gizz working at their jammy peak, if you loved this you’re sure to love those two tracks. Stu - Lead Singer/Guitarist/Flute/Misc. Instruments Joey - Secondary Singer/Lead Guitarist/Misc. Instruments Ambrose - Lead Singer/Sax/Keys/Harmonica/Percussion/Misc. Instruments Cook(ie) - Rhythm Guitar Cavs - Drums Lucas - Bass/Misc. Instruments Eric - Drums/Theremin (Eric left the band in 2020, he was the drummer wearing glasses)
They’re in Austin and Houston 11/15 and 11/16/24! The Austin show is one of their 3-hour marathon gigs and I can’t recommend enough that you go to that one. I was lucky enough to get to see their Hollywood Bowl marathon set this past June- it was absolutely amazing. Pure magic, pure joy. Thank you for checking out the Gizz! If it pleases the hosts, I’d love to recommend you guys watch either their live video of them performing ‘Magma’ at Red Rocks 6/8/23 or their music video for ‘Dragon’. I guarantee you’ll love both!! Also, Stu mixes all their KEXP sessions (each of which are amazing). Cheers!
Hey Dignan - it’s Charles. We should all have a gathering in Austin! It would be amazing to see them perform! Thanks for the recommendations! We are definitely becoming Gizzers too!
Hey, Charles! I’d be in for sure! I’ve got tickets to The Gorge (marathon), Troutdale, OR and Vancouver, B.C. all in September so I’d be all refreshed for acTexas trip! If you guys wanted to zip on up for The Gorge show I’ve got tickets and room at a nice spot at the Gorge campground.
The audio mixer is the main guy singing with that odd guitar. Stu is kinda the mastermind of the whole band, I guess you'd say. I would second the suggestion for Dragon. Also, their microtonal stuff is really unique too, like the KG or LW albums. One of my personal favorites is the second album they put out, Eyes like the sky. Kinda psychedelic surf-western accompanying a narration book-on-tape type deal.
Thanks for info Furao80! It’s Charles. We did just review Dragon this week based on y’all’s suggestions. All I can say is “Holy shit”! Love hearing about your faves so we can delve further!
you mention the lead singer being able to do lots of different voices - he even does throat singing nowadays! great video, very entertaining to see your guys' reactions :)
Love the reactions, gizz is so diverse but they always manage to entertain, would absolutely love seeing more gizz and can promise you gizz fans will eat this content up
Thanks for the suggestion! We just did a reaction video to that song yesterday based on your suggestion. It fuckin blew our mind!!! Amazing!! We will be posting it soon!
Hey Bloodhoundsoldier! It’s Charles - 😂😂love the Toadie comment! Thanks for watching - we are definitely going to be reviewing more King Gizz! In fact we recorded Dragon this week so it should be out soon
Thirded. So funny to think how mind-blowing Crumbling Castle (and all of the rest of Polygondwanaland) was when it came out... and how it's now dwarfed by almost everything coming out since 😮
My husband and I saw them 5 times in one week back in June including all 3 Red Rocks shows. We saw them in Asheville last year. Experiencing them live is on another level. We have tickets to 3 shows next year…so far 😅
I have '24 tickets to see them in San Diego, and the Gorge (WA), but now I want to do a road trip and to to Austin/Houston and hopefully meet up with you all! Love the excitement you have listening to these!
if you guys are a big fan of the story telling aspect of their music and some of the heavier psychedelic stuff i highly recommend checking out their album murder of the universe, some of my all time favorite story writing and some weird heavy sounds
Thanks for the suggestion! It’s Charles - we will check that out! I’m so damned overwhelmed by all their stuff, I love y’all’s guidance!! Thanks again!
Y’all should come to the OKC show @ the criterion in NOV ‘24. I saw Gizz there in 2022 on Halloween and it was Awesome. Huge Fan of King Gizz and the Todies!
If you like King Gizzard...check out these bands: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Bighorn Sheep, Idiots of Idealism, King Buffalo, Dead Soft Not saying any of them are quite like the Gizz, but you'll like them
Why do you have 2 drummers? Allman Brothers band drummer Jaimoe ask Duane Allman why do we have 2 drummers? Duane said because James Brown and Otis Redding have 2 drummers!
Highly reccomend static electricity by king gizzard they use microtonal tuning to create a amazing rock song with one of their greatest solos make sure to listen to the studio version and not the live! love your vids keep it up from Ireland
"That guy looks like a baby" haha ambrose IS a baby. He's everyone's baby
The River on KEXP is overlooked as far as reactions. There's just too much stuff!
Hey Paul! It’s Charles - love that there is so much! Reaction video material for days!!😂 Thx for the suggestion!
They no longer have 2 drummers, Cavs is the man!
Go see them live! Every show is different, their set lists change nightly and they are a ton of fun.
And I don’t know if anyone else has said it, but Stu (lead singer) does all the mixing on their KEXP sessions. He’s an alien

I swear this will be the best thing you've heard, listen their song "Magma" at Red Rocks 6/8/23. Jesus lord it's so good.
I second this, quite literally the sickest thing ever
Thirded. So funny to think how mind-blowing Crumbling Castle (and all of the rest of Polygondwanaland) was when it came out... and how it's now dwarfed by almost everything coming out since 😮
@@ShineOnBenevolentSun I was thinking the same thing. Last October 2022 was incredible, then Petro… just amazing

That would be so cool! We are hoping to get to the Austin show - and it’d be great to visit and hang out with y’all!
The whole song slowly crumbles as the song goes on
Do The River please it's such a vibe
Ya'll should make a trip to see them during their annual Red Rocks show next fall. They are fucking unreal live
That would be amazing!! A huge caravan to see the event!!
@@JackalopeTalesChannel September 8th and 9th. They do 3 shows in 2 days. All different sets each time

Not saying any of them are quite like the Gizz, but you'll like them
Thanks for the suggestions! Love finding out about new bands from y’all!
You guys should react to some live footage! Maybe boogieman Sam from red rocks in 2022
Why do you have 2 drummers? Allman Brothers band drummer Jaimoe ask Duane Allman why do we have 2 drummers? Duane said because James Brown and Otis Redding have 2 drummers!
I loved when the Melvin’s had two drummers! Playing live with two drummers is a percussion destruction! Love that sound!
If you love unique gears i can reccommend you their Nuclear Fusion (Live KEXP)
Highly reccomend static electricity by king gizzard they use microtonal tuning to create a amazing rock song with one of their greatest solos make sure to listen to the studio version and not the live! love your vids keep it up from Ireland
