The battle of your life....AGING!!! It's so hard man! Im 57 and been listening to this band for over 30 years, wise beyond and man are they fucking Awesome!! Fucking TooL!!!!
😂 same my Tool brethern, 56🤘
At 55yo, just drove to see Tool (finally) 6 hours each way. Been a fan since “Sober” was released on MTV. They (Tool) never age. They are another level.
“An organism is a one-trick pony. You know what it does best? Die.”
I’m 54, been listening to tool in late 80s’.
57 also loved tool since birth..
This song for me is talking about feeling your age. Pounce de leon was searching for the fountain of youth. no matter where you have been or the battles you have won you are here NOW. You must be present to be a warrior. Apt since they took 13 years to release this album.
"Cast off limiting thoughts and return to true emptiness. Stand in the midst of the great void. This is the secret of the Way of a Warrior"
- Morihei Ueshiba, "The Art of Peace" page 166
I think this song is from both Maynard and the bands point of view about staying popular and relevant and in today’s social media and music industry. The metaphor and character Maynard describes is a warrior who fought many battles and is at the age they feel useless fighting. This person was trained to never drop his shield since that meant certain death in battle. The character is realizing if he can’t even do that then what’s his purpose. It’s an internal anthem to keep going and not let your age hold you back from your purpose and goals in life.
That sound you called a theramin is that big keyboard looking thing behind Danny’s drums. Danny plays that part.
Had the privilege of hearing this live 3x now and when Justin drops in with that bass, walls in the arena explode!!! 🤘😵🤘
Wal-destructed Walls lol
Great Reaction! This song is my story, I am going to be 50 this year, starting to slow down, the competition is usually younger than me. BUT...I am still here, still kicking ass and taking names!
hell yeah! 👊👊
Me too! Except the kicking ass and taking names. Just the aging and slowing down here.
I’m just here to kick some ass and chew some bubble gum and I’m all out of bubble gum…

@@scottst1112stop being so damn Rowdy!
My man!!, this track seems to find itself wanting in the ears of the few who can’t recognize. Love your reaction.
For those interested in Danny's compositions, check out my synced drum transcription to Invinsible: ua-cam.com/video/I8iqbeVnndU/v-deo.html
I will definitely be waiting for Descending. One of my favorite songs of all time. I’m wondering if you have Tempest on your list. If so then I’ll be back for that one as well. Both tracks are mind blowing.
Prison sex was my first and favorite Tool track for 25 so years Invincible my new favorite great song.
Love Invincible! Your breakdown was spot on. Can't wait for Descending next week!
Descending is in the same weight class as Lateralus for me.
You can take the warrior out of the war, but you can't take the war out of the warrior! ✌️
Of course the song is on getting old! Anyone can relate with it.
There is only one way to describe Tool. They’re Tool. Artists, poets, genius’s. You are on a journey that will only make you smile and never look back #toolarmy 🤘🏼
My current struggle. Getting old sucks, but at least I'm always 30 in my head😅
As a veteran I can also read this song in relation to military service and then retiring. I was once relevant to the mission and my fellow service members but often feel irrelevant now.
It's means you I and them getting old. Time bearing down. But we're not gonna accept defeat
Justin with that bass tone at the 8:50 mark was crazy. Didn't know a bass could make that kind of sound. Great song and reaction.
Maynard singing about Maynard...
Great description of Danny! "Mr. No Days Off!" Right?!
if there's one thing that this song is not about its the band itself. for me the song's lyrics are very literal.
So it's about the band then.
Emp, if you fold the album artwork in half, the word TOOL forms a SYRINGE! ✌️
And I am getting that as a forearm tattoo. Wrist to elbow, looking like a junkie. But, it’s Tool’s logo, likely surrounded by lyrics (from sober or AEnema)
@@scottdolby nice!
I do believe this song is about getting older
Great reaction. It's pretty obvious what this song is about. I'm 65 and still rockin' to Tool, the greatest band in the world. Just saw them again and am going to see Maynards' 60th birthday celebration tour featuring Pucifer, Primus, and A Perfect Circle in April. I'm trying to stay relevant. Ha ha. Can't wait for Decending. It's one of their best, and that's saying a lot.
It's not a theramin, it's Danny on that big keyboard behind him if you've seen live footage
You know Maynard is an Army Vet Right! I relate to this song because I have PTSD! So listen to the song & what it’s about if you can relate with battles past & in mind !!
Fackin TOOL. 🔥
I always think of my Dad when listening to this. He's pushing 70 but still battling through.
Descending is my fave Tool song, can’t wait!!
That bass is actually Danny on drums. 😂
This whole album on 🍄 is beyond words.
Afraid to try psychedelics with my brains behavior, but if I ever did this Is my number 1 band hands down Pink Floyd looped in and out with tool
Great vid as always! Can’t wait for the next one!
One of the most epic songs ever composed is up next
This song always takes me into the movie 300 in my mind.
As a brand new 50yo, this song has special significance… more years behind than ahead, strength waning, racing against the darkening when usefulness will fail me.
I want the Invincible drum cam!
P.S. Keep the outro.
Getting older isn't for the faint of heart .. Respect your elders if they're deserving. I'm 67 now.
Could pertain too anyone anywhere struggling with getting old !
I can't wait for you to hear Culling Voices
Best song on the album imo
gonna grab some magic shrooms, brb lol
The rhythms are organic and flow together
Oooohhhh....next week is Descending!
danny is doing danny things in the back
Next week only gets better 🤘
TOOL IS FOREVER
You have to check out You Lied. Killer track. Also Divorced. Playing w Melvins.
Best part of this reaction..."13:37!? Good God!"
🐙🤘🏻🌀
The song's about toxic masculinity and men's place in the world, and means of relevance.
Love Tool but for you to jump from this to Bodyslam now that's another thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm Thai, of course there's that understanding. As for Tool, it's just something else. With TOOL (mind you they're Americans) there is no gender, cultural, ethnicity, racial or any nonsense barriers. The feeling, the rhythm and instruments express for what they stand for.
What makes Tool so unique, complex yet fascinating at the same time is their ability to capture the primal rhythmic essence. There's no need for reasons or to question why. To me is what it it' sound's of bliss.
Nevermind the lyrics as it is complicated to understand the aim is to understand without understanding it. 😅
how have you not done 7empest ??????
All MEN will appreciate this song
I don't think this has anything to do with gender. Anyone who is struggling to thrive, not just live, has a voice in this song.☮
I’m a 62 year old woman and I have fought many a grueling battle believe me; we’re all warriors in life and strugglers against the ravages of time and tribulations and just life bearing down, giving birth to a hopefully higher soul consciousness in the end. I take care 24/7 of my adult special needs daughter with autism and I am her warrior/protector as well.
