If Netflix are gonna do their typical thing and axe it, The Marineford finale would be a perfect place to do it tbh. I hope we get up until at least that
One piece live action is Netflix's biggest show. It broke the records set by Stranger Things and Wednesday. It will definitely get a season 2 with an even bigger budget
It was a great adaptation plus Netflix already started selling OP merch, they will feel how big this IP is. I will be really confuse if they dont give it more season.
18:38 Zoro with the sword in his mouth. They honestly did such an amazing job and put thought into that. Because the first time he does it he uses it to send Morgan flying across the yard. I say that was vital. Because I see two different people watching this live action. Either the one piece fans who naturally got hyped when he put the sword in his mouth. Then you have the new people who honestly laughed at the concept as a whole. That laughter was silenced real quick when Zoro did his attack. It was just a "Oh that was awesome" it was a "ok maybe I under estimated him..."
Any comic nerd should be interested in One Piece. Imagine your favorite comic where there's been one author for 25 years. They've been building to the same end goalfrom the start and have been extremely consistent the entire time. It's the best for a reason.
It's like an alternate version of the One Piece story. Most of the characters and all of the really important ones are there and are easily recognizable with just some minor changes that do not impact the overall story. Some things change but the core essence, the spirit of One Piece, is still clearly there. The actors understand their characters, who they are, where they come from, what they want and what motivates them. Everyone can see that the all the actors love the source material and enjoy playing their roles. Helps that Eiichiro Oda himself was heavily involved in the filming as the final authority. That is how all adaptations, anime, manga, comics, books, games should be made. We've seen it with the first 7 seasons of Game of Thrones or the 6 seasons of The Expanse. If the source material and the fans are respected, then you can succeed. Failure comes when the showrunners, writers and producer think they are better than the original creator and know better what the audience wants than the audience, when political messages and personal.social narratives become more important that the established characters and the story itself. The One Piece life adaptation skillfully evaded those treacherous chesspools of hubris and political/social agendas. It's not perfect, but it has heart and soul and does a good job to entertain longtime fans, casuals and newcomers alike.
I read somewhere that second season is confirmed and in fact almost ready to be filmed, but the main thing i read was that Netflix are looking to secure at the minimum 6 seasons.
Kofi!!! Was in same boat 2 years ago bc the 1000+ episodes was so daunting. But I said screw it and dove in. It was sooooo worth it!!! Oda is a genius with this series and there’s a reason it’s been on for 20 plus years.
OP world wide surpassed Harry Potter in terms of sales. It is the most popular comic/manga world wide, even tho superman/spiderman/etc have so many spinoffs in circulation and have been running for so long, one piece sold more. Many things are more popular than OP in say US, but OP is like a religion in other countries like japan for example and overall OP is more popular.
For this series to make it to Marineford arc, obviously the showrunners need to stay on board with Oda, and Netflix SHOULD release weekly episodes or batches of episodes per week to keep the momentum of the show increasing more and more over a longer period of time!!
Surely the walking dead was already a good anime adaptation, even though they ruined it in the long run! And before someone states that TWD did not adapt an anime, neither did One Piece
Marineford was brought up, yeah I think Live Action can go upto Marineford and END with a Bang. That might take them Season 5 to do it. Season 2 & 3 will blow up in terms of Adventure and World Building. Season 4 will be the Real Threat. And then Marineford.

One Piece is one of the animes i just couldn't get into back in the 90's but the live action is top tier entertainment and the perfect way to get to know the One Piece world...
10:30 It doesn’t cover the entire East Blue Saga, only up to (and *not* including) Loguetown. That’s only 44 episodes of content, not 61(which is the *full* East Blue Saga including a short filler arc after Loguetown)
40:07 the anime has issues that make me greatly dislike it, outside of key moments. I much prefer reading the manga, with the anime as a side thing for the scenes I wanna see with music and voice acting.
A little miss by the editing was when Zoro was fighting with Axe-hand in the 1st ep... Zoro's Wado Ichimonji got bent while he was rolling on the ground and it was a bit disappointing because it was at the very front of the screen and clearly visible... Other than that, everything was perfect...
It's good overall ..you cant expect 100% same feeling with the anime. This is live action for a reason...it should have something new feeling to audience
General piece of advic e for anyone who DOES get into One Piece - when you hit dressrosa and wano switch over to manga instead of anime - they drop the chapters per episode down to under 1 chapter per because toei is a terrible company who's doing their best to milk every once of money they possibly can out of this with no care for the art they're destroying
Was it really toned down? Luffy swallowing "that thing" was wacky af, much more wacky than him getting to Buggy by a big bird. Lucky roux beating someone with a stick of meat is GOOFY AF. That Helmeppo scene , and so much more. Imo OPLA blended the core themes of OP really well, what they really toned down was Zoro's scene in the Baratie, I genuinely did not like the execution of Zoro swearing his loyalty after the battle I feel like they culd have changed it while having the same themes, but everything else in that episode was so good.

Zoro is actually more likeable in the anime. He is stoic but also goofy. He was often bullied by nami and sanji and was always a collateral damage of Luffy's reckless tricks. I thought he was hit or miss. Just seeing someone have the "Idgaf" attitude in live adaptation is really cringey to a degree He definitely has the best fight scenes, probably because he doesn't require any CGI, whereas I was disappointed by how undercut many of Luffy's fights were because the CGI was too expensive,to the point where many iconic fighting moments are cut short or there but not as impactful . It's good though, just not the masterpiece people are saying
One piece is a journey just think about that, its not just a manga or anime with thousands episodes, its like youre watching your little brother graduate and accelerated to smart kids room
Glad you are gettin into the manga and anime. I would not hurt if you started clean from the beginning. The live action took some quesnable liberties that really depart from the original material ex. garp is different, how luffy met zoro, nami back story, missing characters etc... best of luck
15:23 For anyone who is watching this video and gonna start watching the anime afterwards, know that hes dead wrong anout Zoro. Zoro is way MORE personable and willing to have fun in the anime than what was shown here.
Not really, you can easily get to Marin Ford by season 4 and Wano by season 6, especially since it has already been said that they are aiming for at the very least 8 to 10 seasons.
I think it's good and really well made, but not the masterpiece it's being touted as. It feels more like a Netflix series loosely inspired by One Piece more than the actual essence of One Piece. A lot of Luffy's iconic fight scenes are cut back because of budget and they couldn't even stick with the red shirt the full eight episodes because of how goofy it looked. Still a really well made and enjoyable series, but not the masterpiece people are hailing it as
