Thank you, thank you, thank you. This song is the reason I learnt how to play guitar. Absolutely incredible. And I don't think he gets the credit he deserves as a guitarist. He could shred with the best of them, and his tone was fantastic.
All true things
His performance at the George Harrison memorial Gig was histotic!
Yes it was
Rock n Roll hall of fame performance. Not memorial gig.
I agree... what happened to his guitar after he threw it up in the air...
@@rodgerrodger1839 I'm sure it was a follow-up gig from 'A Concert For George' at the Royal Albert Hall ...
@@paulmarsh8974 I think George has it. 😀
Prince is a legend for sure.
I met him in 2000 at a night club he invited me to sit with him for a few hours. Then invited to Paisley Park, that was my spot for a few years every Friday night..
Sure do miss this beautiful soul😢
Prince has always been one of my biggest influences. "Purple Rain" the song for me is probably the most powerful song ever written. Rip Prince 1958-2016
The harmonies... omg
Prince was a legend one of my faves too
Awsome music 🎵
Let’s not forget Prince also locked himself away during the time he learned of Michael Jackson’s death, he spoke of Michaels unique artistry and his impact on music for hours and said that he was sad that someone like him was gone because he related to Michaels intense perfection of music and even stated Michael reached out to him on occasions to talk about things he struggled with and his love for God
The song is my favorite! RIP, Prince
Yes I really love his guitar playing and music, I'm a heavy metal guy , put prince was so creative and different .
Good video, good lesson. No one can deny Prince.
Prince was a legend 💜
Wendy Melvion created and played the guitar for the intro to the song Purple Rain
This is the correct statement.
The ebadd9 had my fingers in a twist for months some years back!
It took me like 9 takes before I got it right
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp I believe that lol once the root is in place the rest of the chord follows, but it's making sure the rest of the chord is ready in time 😆 great stuff as always. Cheers! 👊
That ‘ s funny🎸 !
Fascinating
I was being sarcastic
He’s the reason i’m learning guitar rn, also you did amazing!
Wish i could save to playlist.
One of the best guitar players in the world started out doing Hendricks tributes
Yeah he was amazing
Ah, our wedding song... I was originally gonna do a the solo as a surprise for the guests (smth of a non-talented casual guitar player here) but then we decided it should be our wedding dance... and for the solo I picked '94 pulse version of Comfortably Numb... wish music kept going in that direction throughout the years
Anthony , that’s not easy to play . Very good bro🎸 .
It’s not easy, especially that last chord. Also I played a regular F instead of the F sus 2 chord Wendy plays.
He help meny people he didn't even know most of them
The Purple Rain intro was actually developed by Wendy.
BTW Anthony, Billy Idol was no slouch on guitar. He was the headliner for MTV's New Years Eve party one year. Sweltering performance.
He was a very underrated gtr player imho and thats coming from a metal player
Wendy Melvion* played amazing on Purple Rain
🎸👍🤟💜
I didnt know jordan peterson plays and teach guitar
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thx!
Close but Wendy actually plays the F major a little differently (pinky on the 7th fret and doesn’t strum the 1-3 strings). Prince was a straight up criminal player on both guitar and bass. Severely underrated as a guitar player to everyone except guitarists who know.
Note: He was not “taken from us”. STOP blaming GOD for the folly of man. Prince took himself from us. Not a victim, nor are most.😇🙏🏽🖖🏽🌈🤨 signed: also a huge fan of: Prince, Michael, Elvis, Jim, Curt, Janis, Jimmy -Oh, you get the point..
You think he's dead? Sorry but you don't know what actually goes down in hollywood.
@@zacksguitarhacks6390 Maybe that’s what he’s saying . . .
@@carlbaumeister3439 no the OP said prince took himself from us. As in he did it to himself with drugs which is not actually the truth.
@@zacksguitarhacks6390 Well, if you’re suggesting he’s in hiding somewhere . . . after the craziness of the last 2 years, I can believe it.
@@carlbaumeister3439 in a way yes that's what I'm saying
The f adds 9 . Like every breath you take. Look at live versions of this song. Wendy plays it like that
I play it with an F.
Wendy melvoin 🤘🤘
I just think he did George a solid so I am happy
What chorus settings were you using
Btw I love your channel
Except Prince didn’t write that guitar intro , a 15 year old girl in his early band did
More info?
"Purple Rain" was originally written as a country song and intended to be a collaboration with Stevie Nicks. According to Nicks, she received a 10-minute instrumental version of the song from Prince with a request to write the lyrics, but felt overwhelmed. Lisa added her part, very normal because its a band, (The Revolution) and they jam a lot together and keep what works....happy mistakes!

I never ment to call you
He took himself from us
Make an Oasis video
Oasis is trash
@@SnoW-wc2rw u don’t have a good taste in music
Wonderwall!!!
Which song other than Wonderwall?
If he’s gonna do one from a Beatle-ish group, why not a better band, like Badfinger or Jellyfish?
He wasn't taken from us, he took himself from us.
That guitar riff though is actually Wendy’s creation, not Princes.
No disrespect to the genius of Prince, but I thought Wendy Melvoin was the one that came up with that guitar part for Purple Rain. There's no claim in the video that Prince came up with that, but a proper nod should go to Wendy.
Moral of the story is Don't do Fentynal and know your facts People.
How was he taken?
Oh don’t even start.
Agreed. It was his own stupidity.
Missing the 9 on the F.
fr
I thought wendy came up with the chords?
Prince wrote it, but Wendy changed it. Prince got the full songwriting credit though
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp How does that not give Wendy songwriting credit if she altered it a bit?
I can't do it :
The last chord is a bear
Are you for real?
Is that a baritone lp?
Nope. Plain old Les Paul classic
Wendy melvoin played and came up with the progression, although its the same as journey's faithfully
Actually prince wrote the song. Wendy changed the vibe of the progression, which originally sounded more country
Are you sure it was him that created this intro?
He was a great guitarist and singer.. but I don't think he created this intro.
Credit should be given to those that deserve.. I don't think he deserves for this one.
Research Wendy Melvoin.
He literally was taken, for the truth he was speaking!
Not prince..it was Wendy
I agree that he was an amazing artist. But he wasn’t taken from us. He was a legendary asshole. And an addict.
Little Richard jr
Well, “little” anyway . . .
I'll get some stick for this but Prince was way better than Micheal Jackson..
He was definitely way more talented.could play multiple instruments, could dance, sing, wrote, produced, he could do everything.
I also find his music more listenable and better than MJ's.
Drugs took him
Everyone knows still alive
Prince is superb. This vid guy sucks and keeps coming up in my feed
That cabin story is BS.
“Taken from us?” Lmfao dullard
This guy acts exactly like those hyper zeros that do infomercials. Overly animated when talking. Annoying. Moves his head with every word like he has Parkinson’s and is wayyyyyy too eager to hear himself talk.
Bruh I bet you awkward as hell
Don’t sound too good
Not a fan
Prince is probably one of the most over rated musicians of all time
I agree.
IMHO, yes and no. His songs were overrated (I think Purple Rain is decent, but most of them I don’t care for), but his guitar playing is underrated.
Overrated? He dumbed down his music because that’s what it takes to be commercial. He was respected by every artists that played with him. His first album from 1979 was probably his best as far as musicianship and he played everything on it including drums.
@@vinshade 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Get a shave and put on a tie!
Why so I can look like you? 🤣🤣
Just watching and hearing this guy infuriates me
Maybe you should get some therapy for those anger issues
In the words of Kurt Cobain, “then why are you here?”
@@carlbaumeister3439 dumb point/question. I’d never know what anything sounds like without first listening. U see, this is basic knowledge , child. Logic. What you’re saying is “a person should know before watching or listening to something if they like it or not.” Which , of course, is impossible. So…any other questions that answer themselves? Uh oh! Got a bright one here.
@@jst2889 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@J St if you don't like the guy that's fine, but why not just scroll on? Why waste the time typing a comment to make sure that everyone knows you don't like him?
