I think this is probably the right prediction. There's also a possibility that the sky islands are going to somehow be linked to Skyward Sword's Skyloft, which means the islands we see could be hidden by the cloud barrier. In SS the barrier prevented birds from flying through it so it would keep the Rito from being able to find them and also make the islands impossible to see from the surface until... something... brings them into view, similar to how your theory mentioned. Instead of islands being raised up, they might be lowered down through the cloud barrier.

It's possible but also, sky islands from Skyward were generally tiny and scattered, unlike totk ones and we know already that we are dealing with Zonai sky islands, soo... I doubt they have ties with Skyloft.

That's extremly long shot, but might be very accurate one.

It is a leap but it's gonna be so hype if it's even partially correct :D

I suspect it's more that you can't view most smaller sky islands from the ground. With there being groups of sky islands that appear when you get near to them. Saving on in game resources. This is also semi viewable in some shots where half or more of a floating island is blended into the sky so the top is invisible.
However I am 100% hopefully we get time travel. It would be so good for how the timeline has been coming together. It would be so amazing to bounce between the 2 again.

No, they should still be rendered in view. Saving on resources occures by replacing the model with a 2D image when looked at from far enough away. That's what BotW has been doing all along with distant trees, for instance. The pop in always happened only for enemies, not for major elements of scenery (well, when not going at speedrunner gunning for the World Record speeds).
I mean, I could be wrong, I'm not 100% convinced this is correct, I just don't see a reason why islands would be displayed as obscured in clear weather.

@@Drakenwild To be fair I think the same as you. The quality LOZ has been going I would expect they let you see the islands from the other side of the map.
But playing devils advocate that's the only piece of evidence against the little to no islands in view when you are at ground level. Everything else points to what you are saying. They aren't there at some point and then are at another point.
The only other perspective I can see is if islands rise up higher than you can access and out of visual range but drop down to be explored either durring times of day/weather, OR timelines traversed.

@@judebox9438 Islands changing elevation due to external conditions would also be a freaking incredible mechanic to be honest!

    With the advantage of hindsight:
Your theory could also explain why there are no divine beasts in TotK. Maybe the presence of Zelda in the past prevented history form leading to a point where these would have been build in the first place

    • @Drakenwild
      @Drakenwild  Рік тому +1

Yea, it is something I've been wondering about quite a bit. There are other ways to explain the absence of the Sheikah tech, of course, like say Zelda, Purah and Robbie agreeing that maybe they shouldn't keep something they don't fully understand but which has been used against them, leading to them tearing it all down and repurposing parts... and that's a reasonable argument but I can also immediately think of a counter - there is a metric tonne of the stuff, the time, effort and manpower required to find, disassemble and dispose of all this safely is not something Zelda and the crew had at their disposal, not in a ruined country which hasn't had Hyrule Castle sovereign for a hundred years. At the same time, we do have the evidence of the Guardians and Towers existing in the past, in the form of BotW tapestry, still found in Kakariko.
In addition, there is dialogue we get about sky islands and geoglyphs - they have been reported to appear suddenly, shortly after Zelda fell in the chasm, and yet there also is literature and culture around them existing, as if they've always been there despite no one remembering it. These two things cannot be true at the same time unless these things were either hidden by magic tied to Rauru's seal or the reality has been altered by Zelda's time travel. I've heard people saying that maybe Sky Islands were hidden by the cloud barrier like Skyward Sword but the timing for that being the case doesn't work - Link spent at least a month in a coma, barrier was only broken when he left the Temple of Time, and yet people have been seeing the islands before then already.
And then to top it all off there is the sudden interest of everyone with Ancient Zonai, completely replacing the Sheikah Technology. I can't understate how weird it is for people who were specialists in the subject to suddenly drop it almost completely, with one exception of Purah Pad, and instead move on to archeology and studying ruins, which before the Upheaval were extremely uncommon anywhere outside of Faron.
All of this is extremely fishy. I'm not quite sure what is going on yet but history being altered by Zelda's presence in the founding era is not out of the question.

@@Drakenwild Now that you mention it I DID notice sometimes dialog from various NPCs not adding up to what we learned in BotW especially considering that during the Calamity a lot of history probably got lost.
I dismissed it initially considering that the developers probably only wanted TotK to be distinct from BotW, but your points do make a lot of sense.
Makes me wonder. Fascinating stuff to be sure
