Jerry, on the head pipe subject; I installed a Supertrapp open head pipe on my 2020 RKS. Along with a set of Kerker mufflers. The open pipe got rid of the catalytic converter which improved acceleration, sounds way better, and reduced heat generation along the right side of the bike.

I'm a diehard Harley guy but I just can't justify their prices. I can afford them too. I always buy a 2 year old used bike with less than 5K miles on it and I instantly save $10K. I can't see where the $30K is when I look at these bikes.

many of our roads down here in Australia are in poor shape due to recent floods. I hit a few big pot holes on my road trip and I was pleasantly surprised with how stable it is. Not even a shake of the bars. it just sailed across them. I did get bounced out of the saddle on a couple of them but no worse than my Heritage would have. In the corners the bike holds a line beautifully, really impressed with the handling for a bike of this size and weight.

Thanks for the report. Just looking to buy a '22 and the Street Glide is up there. I would like a Touring with Lowers and Tour Pak but liquid cooling and all the other excesses of the Ultra are just more stuff in the way.
Harley Davidson would like you to stop calling them crash guards. They prefer that the Fronts are Engine Guards and the Rears are Saddle Bag Guards.

@@Drillinanpiping Right on brother. Just so you know, I paid $35,000 out the door for my ST. I hope you have a good experience. I'd recommend talking to a guy named Davis if you have questions. If you decide on an ST and want to upgrade to a stage 2, you won't have to pay for a larger cam since it already comes with a 117. Just something to think about when making a decision on which one to buy. Stay safe my friend.

Did you have to do any tuning when you added the slip-on mufflers? When I added some slip-on mufflers on my ST it caused the engine to surge at idle sometimes. I'm going to do a tuner to take that out, I think the fact that the bike is free flowing from the factory once I added the additional free flowing mufflers it changed the tune or it can't tune for it by itself.

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  2 роки тому +2

I went with the 4'' Tab mufflers with the medium baffles and the bike runs perfectly. No tuner needed. Now, if you get 4.5 or 5'' mufflers with the zombie baffles or no baffles, I could see the computer not being able to adjust itself enough.

Love Harleys but it's not worth any where near $30k to me... I was a road king classic owner and am thinking of buying a leftover ultra this year. I think at that price the ultra is the only way to go, Harley's are not sport bikes nor meant to be in my view. I'm also a sport bike owner. Harley is selling fewer motorcycles these days partly due to the pandemic probably, and Indian affecting them, but arguably the most compelling reason is overall price and tied to that the BS add-on charges by dealers then atop that the Harley surcharge. I think the dealer gouging is turning people off. Even the die hards. Not sure about the supply chain issues in terms of how bad they still are today, hopefully soon at some point that will improve but wondering aloud if it will be disclosed as companies feed their greed. I see dealerships going down. Large spaces with lots of overhead. Their bikes are simply out of reach to most these days. Becoming a niche brand. Just had a Harley dealer close near me. Sad to see, love the history. be well !!!

Not worth that but, it's not really about that when it comes to such things for most.

On your TAB slip on's did you get the 4.0" on the 4.5"? I have the identical bike, nice choice.

I'm riding Harley and I was interested in the new SG ST and I had a test ride with it.
Here in Europe the bikes have to be sold according to the Euro 5 regulation.
    Means for a HD:
different exhaust systems and air intakes. The performance of the bikes are not as good as they are in the US and beside this, the "sound" is boaring.
The comfort of the SG ST is in my opinion a joke. A firm suspension in combination with a seat, that reminds me on race bikes made by Ducati.
I expected much more of this bike and was really disappointed after the test ride.
The most horrible thing is the price. Here in Austria it starts at 41.000€ !!!!!
This bike is absolutely no option for me.

The good news is nobody will force you to buy one. Although, pretty soon, the government will force you to buy an electric motorcycle, by regulating combustion engines out of existence.

Hi Jerry, of course the SG ST is a good looking bike, but I was a little bit disappointed when I have ridden it.
That is that, what I wanted to express.

I own a 22 Gray ST. It was the bridge for the gap between Ducati's/sportbikes for me, into HD. The only AWFUL things about HD so far are the dealer service departments; they are absolutely diabolically bad. HD corporate because it's gone so woke. And a LOT of HD people who hate you because you have a bike they cannot have for whatever reason. I've been riding since 1970, raced sportbikes, ridden everywhere. Yet, for some reason, in HD culture, a lot of you just act like spoiled little brats because someone has a bike you don't. Pathetic.

I've been riding and buying Harleys for 26 years and never noticed a single thing you mentioned in your comment. Maybe, you're the problem.

The difference with the gold wing, you don't have to upgrade absolutely everything that Harley knows is crap, so add another $10 grand to the Harley .
