Nice list! Very different from mine, but good games all the way. I see your point with Punch Out also, it's a uniqe and captivating game. In my list are among others: double dragon 2, Shadow of the ninja & Cobra Triangle
Actually crazy how I discovered this guy from his Billy Joel video ( my favorite artist of all time) and his favorite game is also my favorite game of all time!
There are two versions of Punch-Out. One with Mike Tyson’s image and likeness licenses and a re-release after the contract to use his likeness expired and he was replaced by Mr. Dream. So the copy highlighted in the video is Punch-Out, not Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. Semantics, but worth noting.
@@TimmyG656 Honestly check out the Redux hack. It's like standard Zelda but with a lot of quality updates. After that I'd say Outlands Zed Edition (easier edition but I've played both, prefer easy), Shin Zelda, and Perils of Darkness. Legend of Link is very impressive technically and is a must play. I just didn't like it as much as Outlands, Shin or Perils, still good though. Gannon's Deception is good but too hard for me. New Light is interesting but you start with a boomerang. I need to play it more. It's not fair to judge based just on that. Ancient Dungeon is cool, but it looks like it's just a randomized dungeon, so isn't quite what you might want but still cool. Legend of IOWA is interesting, whacky, you'll know if you are going to like it by seeing a few screen shots. Same with South Park Zelda. You'll know if it's for you, lol. For Zelda 2, Amida's Curse is so good, one of the best hacks of any game anywhere. It's almost not worth mentioning any others. End of Day is well made but I haven't gotten as far. I do recommend the Redux version of Zelda 2, assuming you've played the crap out of the original. You'll appreciate the redux. There's also a free(?) remake for PC that is a nice play through. For Zelda 3, it's Parallel Worlds Remodel (easier version) and Goddess of Wisdom. You might also check out the redux version, but honestly by Zelda 3 there wasn't much jank going on. Allowing the R/L buttons to change items is cool though. NOTE: I mention 'redux' version a lot. That's basically a version of the game with a bunch of updates. Not a ton of gameplay changes, just fixed graphics, updated UI, etc. Like in Zelda 1, you can swing your sword, has a better map, bugs fixed, etc. If you've played the crap out of a game, the redux is a nice refresher.
@@TimmyG656 Oh noes! I gave a super long reply going over like 20 games. UA-cam ate it! Dang! Too long! Short version: Redux, Outlands Zed Edition, Shin, Perils of Darkness, and honorable mention Legend of Link. For Zelda 2, Amida's Curse is shockingly good, redux version also great. For Zelda 3, there are 2 big ones, Goddess of Wisdom and Parallel Worlds (Remodel Version) EDIT: Also, there are randomizers online. Check those out. Super cool! Have fun!
I don't know why, but I just didn't get into Mega Man 3 as much. I've played it. But maybe its because I love the music of2 better. Maybe its because I just love those metal blades. Maybe its because I don't like the dog Rush. The slide is cool. Proto-man seemed cool. But for me its 2 by a mile. Although not my number 1, Mike Tyson's Punch-out is a definite top 10. And although I didn't appreciate Legend of Zelda at the time, it should probably be number 1. I used to hate how long it was listed number 1 in Nintendo Power. I would have found a way to force Bionic Commando in the list somewhere. Somehow.
Great list. I was surprised by some of the choices but I appreciate your reasoning and giving some lesser-known titles some love. Some thoughts: Personally, Mega Man is a big shaft for me. I like 2 more for its accessibility (metal blade makes the game much easier) and its soundtrack, but I think either of 2 or 3 is top five on the NES. As a big EarthBound fan, I enjoyed MOTHER getting a shout. I personally think as a game it's quite flawed but I loved your points about the world building, soundtrack, and its unique setting. Much respect putting Punch-Out at 1. It captures the spirit of the NES perfectly. My Personal List: 1. Super Mario Bros. 3 2. Mega Man 2 3. The Legend of Zelda 4. Kirby's Adventure 5. Super Mario Bros. (I'll break the one game rule for this one only because of it's impact) 6. Contra 7. DuckTales 8. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (But who is Mike Tyson?) 9. Castlevania III 10. Double Dragon II
Super Mario Bros. 3 Mega Man 2 Mega Man 3 Super Mario Bros. Gun Nac Super Mario Bros. 2 (U/E) Duck Tales 2 Metal Storm TMNT III: Manhattan Project Mega Man 5 HM: RC. Pro-Am II, Adventures of Lolo, Crisis Force, Castlevania III, Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti, Bubble Bobble, Little Nemo: The Dream Master, Vice: Project Doom, Crystalis (w/ mods), Solomon’s Key, Super Mario Bros. 2 (SMB: The Lost Levels), Duck Tales/DuckTales, Boulder Dash, Mendel Palace, Adventures of Lolo 2
Nice list! I agree with a lot of it! I'd have had Shadow of the Ninja, Journey to Silius, Sunsoft Batman, and Wizards & Warriors. Otherwise, this is great!
Can’t wait to give these lesser known games a try! Missed opportunity fit Nintendo when they made the nes classic to give us the hidden gems of the system
7:40 there are two different kind of players. Kirby and non-Kirby gamers. I have never played a Kirby game for longer than 5 minutes. Can't stand them.
It’s earthbound beginnings, or Mother. Originally released only in Japan back in 89 a few years before its sequel (Earthbound) was brought to the US. Thankfully nintendo released the English translation to the Wii U Eshop in 2015 to celebrate Earthbounds anniversary
Great list! I really enjoy your videos and the way you cover the video topics...always so good
Jolly good collection you've got there, 'ol chap!

Great video cap!!
Fantastic as always, appreciate the hard work! I'm definitely going to try Shatterhand now.
Zelda is my fav game of all time. I play all the modern day romhacks and have a blast.
What would be your top 3 romhacks? Love Zelda and would really like to continue the adventure!

Sorry I'm having trouble posting. Maybe because we used some words that YT flagged?
Lemme try again...

You keep on introducing me to games I need to try. Stop that, damn it. My list is already big enough as it is. LMAO
Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy belong on this list. And DQ3 is a contender for #1
I have shatterhand & good game haven't beat it yet - legend Zelda was magical for me as a kid.
Nice list bro
Felix the Cat is also a really solid one
My top 10 list is so boring. Zeldas x2, Marios x3, Metroid, Castlevanias x3 and Tecmo Bowl.
Punchout is great and super punchout is one of my favorite games for any system ever.
7:40 there are two different kind of players. Kirby and non-Kirby gamers.
I have never played a Kirby game for longer than 5 minutes. Can't stand them.
Earthbound beginnings...good..?
0/10 list no gimmick (aka Mr gimmick) in sight (jk it’s a fine list)
👍❤
Eveyone knows the top three will have SMB, TLoZ, and SMB3
NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii and Switch are best Nintendo consoles!
So everything except Wii U and N64
Another top 10 NES list lacking the guardian legend. Weak.
no ninja gaiden is sad
Uh... how is Earthbound an NES game?
It’s earthbound beginnings, or Mother. Originally released only in Japan back in 89 a few years before its sequel (Earthbound) was brought to the US. Thankfully nintendo released the English translation to the Wii U Eshop in 2015 to celebrate Earthbounds anniversary
Ooofff....Mega Man III? The slopiest rushed Mega Man game. If you really want the best then play Mega Man IV
Soulless AI garbage
