    Apparently the Mav isn't just based on the Bronco Sport, but shares a bunch of parts with it. The suspension in particular. There are lift kits for the Bronco Sport that supposedly will fit the Mav. Meaning you can actually bring the Mav up to the ride height of a Ranger, without overly-straining the axle angles. I find this amazing. This should let you put slightly bigger and much more off-road worthy tires on it too.

    • @Dreamscythe1
      @Dreamscythe1 4 місяці тому

      without at least a locking rear diff this truck is worthless offroad though even with a lift and tires it has no suspension travel and gets stuck very easy

    • @Wearyman
      @Wearyman 4 місяці тому +1

      @@Dreamscythe1 Oh wow, this is a necro post.
      However, you are right. It's not an offroader, just an around-town city-boy trucklet.
      I did want a Mav when I made the original post, but at the time you couldn't get one without a 6 month wait. In the end I leased a Nissan Frontier, and I'm glad I did. The frontier has been far more useful than the Mav would have been.
      Also, with all the information coming out about the poor build quality of the Maverick, transmissions failing, etc, I'm glad I didn't get one.
      It was great that they made a relatively inexpensive truck. No so great that they did it by cutting corners.

    • @Dreamscythe1
      @Dreamscythe1 4 місяці тому

      @@Wearyman How was the frontier? Mostly did it get some decent fuel mileage? It's a nice looking truck but I think that engine must be hard on gas

    • @Wearyman
      @Wearyman 4 місяці тому +1

      @@Dreamscythe1 Still have it. It's ok. Gas mileage isn't great, but it's a truck, you have to expect that. Hauls well and has nice performance. Honestly I haven't driven it all that much because of COVID moving my job to "remote" and then it never really going back since I don't have to be in the office to do my job. So I've only put like 7k miles on it in two years. Still it's been OK.
      Only complaint is the sensors on it have issues. Likely because this is a 2022, so it's the first year production on this new body style.
      The Front collision sensor seems to have some kind of problem that causes a system fault, and the dealership hasn't been able to run it down. It doesn't stop the truck from working, just generates an error. So it's not worth putting in the effort to have it sit in the shop getting fixed when I'm turning it in next year anyway.
      After that, not sure. I think I might just buy a nice condition older vehicle without all the electronic trash. Maybe a diesel? Something I can get for maybe 5-10k and put a couple thousand more into to make it spiffy and just drive that for awhile until car makers get their heads screwed on right again.

  • @DoctorMotorcycle
    @DoctorMotorcycle 2 роки тому +433

    Yup, totally getting one of these. Don't know that I'd change much compared to the truck you ordered, the main draw for me is the EcoBoost and AWD with the 4K tow. These trucks are going to be little sleepers. Think of the people that are going to get surprised from a stoplight by one of these with an aggressive E85 or methanol tune. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 0-60 in the low 5's, possibly high 4's on a race tune in cold weather. Now watch every other manufacturer scramble to get a compact truck out lol. Go Ford Go!

      Depends. I live in Wyoming and have a Ranger Lariat FX4. For sure a body on frame truck gives more capability for off road with a true 4x4 system and locking diff. That said..."most people" the Maverick is awesome and perfectly fine for dirt roads, snow, things like that. Ranger is going to be way better for towing also. I primarily use my truck for camping trips and climbing trips. I am on the fence about Maverick over Ranger. They both have positives and negatives. Could I do 99% of what I do in my Ranger in a Maverick? Yes.

    Awesome review, I've watched several of yours now. Wanted the Subaru Outback Wilderness but needed a truck... I've wanted a Maverick for a while, but had a solid opportunity (and great trade in offer because of a holiday) to score a Ranger. First thing I did was drive over 800 miles to test it's off-road capabilities in the Eastern Sierras. To keep this comment from being a TL;DR situation, I'll put this simply - if you live in, on, around, or near a city, and commute to said city and don't really plan on light rugged excursions; buy a Maverick. If you're even remotely adventurous, buy a Ranger (if you're trying to stay mini/mid-size and with Ford specifically). This truck is an awesome mini machine, but it's quite literally designed for city usage (every person at *dealer that won't be mentioned* told me this).

    wanted basically this exact vehicle for years, it's just no one made one until now. a proper small, cheap pickup that's still surprisingly capable and very useful. gets good MPGs too, unlike all the giant "compacts" which do 20 highway.
    i think ford is going to sell a bunch of these, and i think one of them will be to me. XLT with the turbo AWD, FX4 and max tow is what i'd get. still good MPGs, very good power for something like this, and should be great for someone who never really wants to go offroad, but does have to drive in the snow on the regular.
    if i lived somewhere else i'd probably get the FWD and hybrid for that sweet 40 mpg.
    this does absolutely everything i'd want. i can haul shit to the dump, pull a good sized trailer (this could handle something like a 16-18 foot fishing boat no trouble at all) and still have the ride, handling and comfort of a car.

    I love that you bought this. I'm looking forward to all your reviews on this truck. It has great selling points. Storage features. Power. Fuel Economy. Looks. Comfort. Price. It definitely gives Subaru a run for its money. This is the first time Ford has me thinking about my next car. (truck)
    Hows the upgraded sound system? Is it outstanding? Does it sound like a significant upgraded system? Toyota says the JBL system is the upgraded system with subwoofer and it's terrible. Thank you again for your amazing reviews.
