The box games always look so pretty [& fun] but the space requirements just don't work for my use. If a game has to have more than a 12" x 18" space with markers, cards, etc. I don't really have the desk space to set up, leave it, and come back [which is how life dictates I "play"]. It's why paper N pencil sheets that I can flip through is what I spend the $ on, instead of the gorgeous box games. None of this stops me from looking at them and going, how groovy, tho!
I'm getting tired of board games trying to cram the D&D experience in a box. IT CAN'T BE DONE.. what happens is that the game becomes overwhelming and tedious, it slows to a crawl and gets boring. Then it sits on the shelf of shame...
Yeah it's a fine line for me. I love the idea of a dungeon crawl game, but normally they are too simple, and when they aren't simple I just think "I could play solo DnD instead."
Ehh. Not fully agreeing. If you want to just explore dungeons and kill monsters just get DnD adventures boardgames. Simple and pretty. But I like when games try to include more activities than just bashing the bad guy next to you. But for some reason boardgame creators like to over complicate the rules and then don't consider table space. This game can be easily streamlined when it comes to rule book size and table space. But it won't happen and it'll be a continuous issue with hundreds of future games.
I'll jump in at the reprint. 12:35 Card anatomy belongs in a rulebook. If you're saying there is none, you should contact the designer victor something...
Been playing the greenskins campaign solo with 2 characters and I love it. The rules are more complex but also flexible and moddable. It will definitely appeal more to gamers who like heavier games, not “beer and pretzel” dungeon crawls.
I've found the complexity of this game a good balance, to have something deep and at the same time not too much. A lots of great ideas ,well done. I didn't mind about some math(additions...), I love the dice explosion, the critics and fumbles, as they can also happen for monsters. It's true that the first level can be hard but you also have weakness on monsters armor that let you use a weapon that go trough them. I think, with the amout of items you can get from the start, it's a good choice. But yes sometimes it can be frustrating when you roll bad for you, and well for monsters. My only complain is the look of the tiles, not really immersive.
Totally agree about the tiles and I think I failed to mention that. Also some of the icons on the markers look like men’s/women’s room icons and I found that distracting as well. The art direction was spotty.
It's excellent game. Very easy to pickup for the first time. With the quick start guide l was able to play the same day l opened the box. So far l tried one shot scenarios. There are campaigns as well but l did not try any yet. This is very indie. I may use some of the components as suggestive material for ttrpg but so far l find ttrpg more like storytelling and less a game. I'd prefer to play a game.
Tiles are a little cheezy however the game works if you have the space and timefor it, opinions are relative, being good at math helps and honestly for the price the value is there and gameplay is enjoyable. Today a lo5 of games hav3 a crazy set of rules but once you wrap your head around it the game is fun
Seems very complicated for an oldie like me…especially without a crochet hook.
I really enjoy these videos, thank you!
No crochet hook. This is obviously AI generated. They'll get it right one day.
love it!

I'm in a similar situation - I have to tinker and game on a rolling table in my garage. And it's not just the space for setup, but the time to do so.
@@ike_d5402 good point about the time involved, also, can imagine weather impacts the 'comfort' of play >g

It's not a game for me, also those tiles are pretty bad.
