I just buy a Mazda 2 2023. It is a very nice little car, with a very efficiently engine, good calibrated. My average is 5.1 l/100 km. I also have an cx3 2019 for 4 years and the average is 6.7 l/100km. The cx3 feeling drive is better than M2. Congratulations for the informative videos!

Do you have any plans to test the Honda Jazz ? Would be interesting to see if it can match up to the Mazda 2 .

One thing is almost painfully obvious in your table. As a rule of thumb, less mass = lower fuel consumption. Trend is only partially disrupted by higher cars (SUVs), probably influence of higher drag because of larger cross section

Good stuff as always. I have a request: test drive a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid if you can get your hands on one. I've heard it's more fuel efficient than Toyota Prius

Not sure about that, but I'll be trying to get one.

It would be very interesting to see you test an old-school naturally aspirated, port-injected petrol-powered car such as the Mitsubishi ASX 2.0 from 2020 and see how it directly compares to the modern-tech engines that you test.

I think you should try Honda Jazz e:hev. My everyday consumption has been 3.6 L/100 km, and I’m not professional ecodriver. I’m amazed how econnomical this non-chargeable car is.

Would the fuel efficiency of the 90HP version be similar?

Not sure, I'd say no, as it only has 5 Nm more torque but at higher revs. Driving both the same way I'd go for the smaller one, if efficiency is the main aim.

I'd be curious to see what result you would have if you drove the 90HP version. Perhaps you can try it out one day

Can you do the Honda jazz (not cross star) in currently cross shopping between Yaris and jazz and interested to see a fuel test comparison! Keep up the great work!

Could you test opel, peugeot or citroen with the 1.2 puretech. The 308 holds the distance record, 1900km at 2.85l/100km

Hi ,many thanks for your excellent video,s , i am in the process of buying a Mazda 2 with the mild hybrid system which captures energy from braking and is supposed to help with fuel consumption ? .Do your rules for economic driving allow for this hybrid system . I would love to know your thoughts .....

@ecodriver1746 , thank you for the video.
    How do you count consumption?
Couple years ago, I've rented a Toyouta hybrid in Europe and drove 3000 km, with 5.0 l/100km. consumption.
And that I summarized all petrol from petrol station bills and divided the resulting number by the mileage. It was 6,8 l/100km. :)
So the question is, do you count the "real" consumption by the amount of petrol (from refueling to refueling) or do you trust a board computer?

That shouldn't happen. From my own experience, the DJ 2 shows true gasoline injection numbers (injectors opening time) converted to a more useable format and they indeed are perfectly consistent.
By the way, true city daily use as is quite common by here (less than 10km with many, many stops) is more like 8l/100km, which is only barely better than the worse cars in this segment (H variant, no start&stop... remove about 0.5/100km with it at the cost of battery life expectancy because of the very limited occasions to drive the controlled alternator and charge it).

Don't trust the car's onboard computer to calculate consumption. It is not accurate.
