I believe they put them on cars to be exported due to the roads being poorer in europe amongst other places.
Back in the early 90s I made the export brace/ monte carlo bar with plates, tabs and hiem joints for my 67 Mustang GTA Coupe. It looked alot like this one.

We've had to back off of the 63 while we find some parts. We'll be back on that car as soon as those parts are secured.

hi nicolas, this car stuff can get a bit expensive. i have a 40 truck that my plan was to build it for the cost of a new f-150 ! well things went a little over board with my engine choice. then everything needed to assist the drive train. ive got about 200 in it and its still isnt finished. just a few more things proper size tires and a computer to operate the motor. it doesnt take much to get your project completely out of hand. good luck with your project. it can be fun too.

Was looking at fabbing one of those to clear a 86-93 efi upper for my 67 Mustang. Any idea if that one would clear the upper intake if used on a Falcon/Ranchero?

Always wondered if this would fit my 1977 Mercury Monarch.
I installed an export brace on my 64 Falcon several years before reproductions were available. It came off of a Falcon in Mexico. It seems to be heavier than the reproductions, and I assume it was a Ford part.
It might have been. It may have been installed on the export cars.
I believe the welded brace broke, not at the welds, but in the center when Ford was preparing the Falcons for Monte Carlo. Also, I know of a 64 Falcon bought new in Spain that came with an export brace. I’ve been in a show with the Spanish Falcon and it’s export brace is the same as the one from Mexico on my Falcon.
Here in Australia the factory bracing was to flimsy for our roads... they had to add extra ribbing. This tarnished Falcons name, so they did the famous durablilty run... which Mr Ford himself didn't want done.
They also did longer frame rails too, right? RRS Australia fitted bracing to the inner fenders that I'm going to ask Matthew at RRS about them. We may do a video on them.
@@AutoRestoMod I don't think the rails were made longer, they did beef up the torque boxes
They were used ( like early Mustangs) for rigidity due to less torque boxes or strength in the chassis
But why remove a welded, folded double wall brace is my question? The Falcon braces are way more meaty than the Mustang ones. Thus my theory that it was an ease of work. Not saying it is a good theory...lol
Yours was probably cut out to ease removing and installing the engine in a hurry. Or ease of access for any component on that side. In the forgotten yrs of gm A bodys (73-77) there were body braces similar to your monte carlo bars except their purpose was just a little extra support for the front clip ( not a structural component) to help prevent rattles and vibrations. First time diyer did a tune up they were removed and tossed. They were a P.I.T.A is what everyone thought till the front sheet metal was squeaking

It would need to be pretty thick on top and boxed underneath like the RRS peice.

Now that my brake lines are all bent to the twin bowl brake master cylinder WITHOUT VACUUME BOOST, I'll bet fitting that vacuum module sitting under my workbench (to hit that 2nd toe on) will fit now.
Be careful on the Falcons, the booster with dual reservoir might be a tight fit.

you should have laid the brace you got for a mustang over the falcon behind you so we could see the difference...i cant imagine there being a whole lot of difference in all unibody fords from back then including maverick

BTW for a street Falcon where the original brace is in good shape, is the RRS upgrade worth considering? If nothing else it would make getting to the master cylinder a lot easier :)
I would say probably not. RRS braces are more for higher-end performance cars. The stock brace on the Falcon would be absolutely fine for most applications. I'm looking at doing a video on bracing the Falcon after talking to the guys at RRS in Australia.

I have a 65 falcon I’m building. I have a mustang 2 front suspension in it. Do you think I need any additional support? I was thinking maybe a Monte Carlo bar?
I would add some additional bracing from the firewall along the underside of the fender aprons. A Monte Carlo bar will help more then. The inner fenders are just too flimsy otherwise.

Damn it Jeff, you just keep spending my money. JK, I thought it was interesting that the other day I was looking at a stock mustang roller chassis and noticed it had the lower brace on it like you did in the last video. Is it the same as the falcon or is it specific mustang meaning are each stand alone pieces?? The reason I ask, I know a guy who has mustang parts cars and could possibly get one for my Mercury comet??
They are different. The Mustang frame rail has nutserts in it that the Swedge bolts bolt into so you would have to figure out a precise placement for them. It would be a lot cheaper Time wise and probably even money-wise to do one from Auto Krafters.

if they had continued the Falcon.. thru the 2000 model year.. they could have had the millennium falcon if george lucas would have sold the rights to the name for a model year..
